So right- I'm sure there may ultimately things my "head" will miss. Walk a few seconds in my run over moccasins. I am 70, tired of being tired, feel my body slooowing down, could I be slowly die-ing? I have lymphadema in my legs up to almost knee level, getting harder to walk a distance even when I WANT to, I'm invisible to fun conversations, either I disgust them or they think I'm stupid. Tired of fat jokes about me.. Inside there' s a fun young at heart Rosey, but on the outside everybody sees s Rosey Bush out of control and needing pruning. Bariatrics will prune me back to where I should be. I'm not a young seedling but I believe I still have blooming potentials. Let's all grow toward health my sisters and brothers. your Rosey Posey.

I appreciate your ranting. I'm just starting all the pre-surgery restrictions and have done a complete makeover in my kitchen and am exercising too. I'm starting to treat myself like I matter. The last thing I want is to be influenced by someone's counterproductive advice!

I'm 4.5 weeks post op and I cook for my family and watch them eat and it doesn't really bother me. The only thing I wish I could have is a big bowl of salty, buttery popcorn.
I'm in Clear Liquids until tomorrow (again), thanks to an ulcer that crept up on me this past week. I'm looking forward to a Protein shake tomorrow!

I am almost two weeks post op sleeve and I can say I am craving food so bad. After being on full liquids for almost four weeks has taken a toll on me. I never thought I would be so excited to have a scrambled egg or 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. And it is JUST head hunger as you call it. I did NOT go through this just to mess it all up. Too much money, pain, and work to give in. So far I have stuck to it 100% and I know I will have cheats here and there but hope and pray it will be a long way down the road.

It's amazing to me the lengths people will go to to sabotage themselves after surgery. I normally just shake my head and continue on. We have to want to make these changes for ourselves, we know when we do wrong. Me personally, I don't want to know if I'll dump if I take a bite of chocolate. 1) I never want to throw up or dump 2) I don't want to eat something bad and NOT get sick, then I'll know I can eat that item. Nope, I'll just convince myself I'll get seriously ill and it's not worth it. I'm surprised on my birthday how much I enjoyed watching everyone else enjoy the cupcakes I brought for treats, and was never tempted to even have a taste.
Sugar, Pasta, covering everything in cheese, alcohol.... my health is worth SO much more than the taste of any of those things.

I have eaten a lot of exotic foods over the years, but till this day I can not handle Brussels Sprouts. I can still taste those little rotten cabbages from when I was young child.

I like most veggies except for squash and brussel sprouts. Squash should be squashed and brussel sprouts look amazingly like donkey turds. Give me some fungus growing in cow patties though and I'm in!

WLS was done by me so I could better address the "big things".
As I gained more leverage over my shortcomings I became less tolerant of how my wife dealt with the same.
In the days since it would seem that her position is flexible yet mine is rock solid and dug in.
Not sure if character flaws have been revealed in me or her..............but I'm not changing, so I guess it's on her to chose if she can accept or needs to move on and find wtf it is she's looking for.

All the above Sounds great. I like the crablegs too, and fresh crab salad with avocado, lemon juice, diced Tomato. My number one choice is fresh Florida saltwater fish, blackened or grilled. Such a simple meal. I also like stir fried onion, Peppers and mushrooms with beef strips. I used to love chicken. No more. Roasted eggplant is a great meal, topped with a low fat and low sugar great Marinara. Large meals are a thing of the past, we eat lightly and we each eat when we get hungry, I keep multiple choices in the fridge, like you. No planning needed! I am now supplementing with Protein Shakes as I get bored with food choices. Your food sounds good, Lipstick!

I am over three years out, above my goal by about 5 pounds and happy. I could (fairly) easily get down to my goal by tracking, measuring and weighing my intake, or I can eat sensibly, enjoy a daily treat and maintain effortlessly. I choose the latter for now because I have a LOT of other stuff going on in my life. The minute my size 8 AEO jeans start getting too tight, I'll go back to option one.

My restriction is super great. I can rarely get in more than 2/3 cup in volume or 3ish oz of firm protein'. My oldest went off to college (go Hoos!), my youngest is a junior in high school and is busy with show choir, volleyball, martial arts, a part time job and with a new driver's license, she is rarely home. (BOOOO!) My husband gets home pretty late and is a grown man, so I've gone from making a sit down dinner every night to making sure there is something in the fridge to eat when anyone gets home and making special "little plates" for myself. I don't have @@Dub cooking for me (jerk!!), and I prefer rich, flavorful foods.

Why am I posting this? I have no clue. I am going to throw out a few of my favorites and I would love to hear your suggestions for more. Most of these can be thrown together in minutes and most components are staples in my house.

Seafood salad and and a few soy wasabi triscuits is an amazing combination.

Cheddar, a few apple slices and a bit of good quality thinly sliced soppressata or prosciutto.
Grilled garlic edamame and Sriracha mayo dipping sauce.

A cluster of crab legs, hot or cold.

cheese stuffed meatballs, baked with whole milk mozzarella on top. (No red gravy for this half Italian. Weird!)

A slice (or two) of avocado wrapped in pepper jack, turkey and (pre cooked) bacon, pan browned just until cheese is melty.

Softly scrambled cheese eggs with diced onions and mushrooms.

Portabella stuffed with artichoke, spinach and feta.

    Mini taco stuffed bell peppers.

    What else, peeps?

Here's the thing though. What worked for me may not work for you. So you need to kind of be your own guinea pig and keep experimenting to see what works and what doesn't. What worked for me was slowly increasing calories until I was at 1100 by a year out, 80 grams of Protein, less than 50 grams of carbs and moderate exercise. Once I got close to goal, I upped my carbs a bit to around 70 or 80 in preparation for maintenence. Play around and see what works! Sometimes the body needs a good shock to the system to get things moving again, so suddenly upping calories and protein may very well do it. It used to work for me to break stalls.

What I would give for a chicken nugget - got to have Protein in it right? I can't get any of that in. A few won't hurt.

Oddly enough, there was no "drama" intended nor was there actual "drama" occurring despite the flaccid attempts by a few who are constantly on the lookout to point fingers (usually at me). Despite their efforts, it appears that many share my opinion that taking accountability for your own efforts is key.
