Worst things people have said to you or behind your back regarding surgery
@@dhrguru - I have gotten the same comment a couple of times about eating "good". Some from people who know about the WLS and some from people who have no idea. I am not going to sit at home and avoid an event (birthday party, wedding, etc) just because I am eating "good" I will do just like you and pick the right food and ignore the idiot.

I take 2 bites and I have major pain in my upper chest & upper back.
@@Mas1172 - I burp like that if I am full, usually too full. Are you truly hungry when you eat or are you eating because you think its time to eat? Could you be thirsty instead? You might try smaller amounts and chew well and sit your fork down while you chew so you don't eat that 1 bite too many.

Lessons Learned
@@The Candidate - AMEN to your statement of "...starting your life over again is still a viable option, if you're willing to work for it". I am 52 and I am post-op and I think I have really learned to LOOK at not only how much I am eating but what I am eating. Really reading the Protein, sugars, carbs, etc.

What Are Your Top Considerations for Choosing a Weight Loss Surgeon?
I wanted a surgeon who had performed the surgery multiple times and who had the bed side manner of a human being not a robot. I also didn't want a surgeon who didn't sugarcoat what to expect (blunt) and what he expected of me. I got both. Dr. Miroslav Uchal at St. Vincents here in the Jacksonville area is my guy and I am fortunate to have him (and his team) with me on this journey!

Aspartame
@@choosehope - I couldn't eat the SF popsicles or Jello, made me sick. I couldn't even swallow it too strong of a taste like @@dbfn had mentioned. I didn't know about the cinnamon so I may try that in the plain greek yogurt with a banana.

What's for Breakfast?!
@@maggie409 - pretty much eat either 2 scrambled eggs with a slice of cheese melted in it on weekends. Hubby likes to eat out so I order eggs and sometimes I get half of a 4 inch smoked link too. That's if he orders it on his plate. During the week its a Protein shake (25 to 30 protein) or a cup of coffee and a pure Protein Bar (20 grams protein). I get up at 330am to go to work. I am not always hungry but I do try to either start with my Protein Drink or regular Water as soon as I get up. I am drinking about 100 oz a day.

Just got settled into my hospital room

A story about the cookie that made me cry
@@Jenyp8409 - I am almost 12 weeks post op and hubby like to eat out, ALOT. Saturday night we went to Red Lobster and I was sitting there not having anything to drink, nothing to eat (waiting on my meal)...while he was guzzling sweet tea, eating a salad and munching on those cheesy cheddar bay biscuits...I haven't had one since before WLS - I got one and starting eating it. He said "what are you doing?" I said "eating, I am hungry, I haven't ate since Breakfast (8:30ish) and I am trying to wait patiently on my food." I ate about half of a small one and felt SOOOOO GUILTY. I am ordering an appetizer from now on for dinner or I am going to tell waitress to bring atleast part of my food (broccoli) when he gets his salad. I usually order a salad but it defeats the "Protein first" rule so I have quit ordering salads & any kind of drink.

Obsessed with weighing in... HELP?
@@LittleMissCopular - you are a Junkie (a scale junkie). I am one too. Congrats on getting your new "birthday"

I need some pep talks!
@@BrandyV2729 - sorry about the loss of your mom, that's tough. I deal with some of the same issues and I knew going in for surgery 3 months ago that my personal life (stress) and not sleeping was going to slow the loss. I am THRILLED to have lost what I have. Be excited you have LOST 88lbs!!! Get back on track and think about plane tickets to fly to see that beautiful grandbaby. Do you want to sit comfortably in a seat in a car or plane? Three of my grandbabies are in NM... Did you sign up for the Labor Day Challenge? I did to push myself. WLS is a tool, be thankful to have it - use it. Let us know how you are doing and set small goals for weight loss. Any loss, is a gain!

How long were you out of work?
@@jfzimmerman - I have an active job and I am also required to lift up to 40lbs by myself. Luckily I have an understanding workmate who said "I got it" and I was back on May 18th (Monday). I had surgery on Wednesday (the 6th of May). I could've come back probably the following Monday after surgery. I think me being mobile at home, the weekend & week following the surgery, helped me be pain free. No gas pains, cramps, etc.
