Tired of Answering the Same Questions Over and Over? - Help Requested for Solution!
Word of advice: I think this is a really good idea, but unless the software has it built in that your must do a search or check the FAQ before being allowed to post many people still going to post repetitive questions. It's just how the internet works. We now live in the TL;DR (Too Long: Didn't Read) age.

This diet seems like BS and I am pouting
One other word of advice. Change your language. It's a mental thing. A diet is temporary. While the various phases you go through as you resume regular eating may change this is NOT a diet. This is relearning to eat in a healthier manner.

"Categorically Excluded" - Did I assume wrong?
It doesn't matter. The insurance company is not going to reimburse you and finding out you *might* have gotten it covered through appeals is only going to piss you off. Just keep in mind going forward, most insurance companies have appeals processes.

This diet seems like BS and I am pouting
@@forgetit - I'm sorry that's not what I meant to say. My point is your conversations & meeting with your surgeon or nutritionist need to be a give and take, an actual conversation or discussion about what works for you and your body specifically. My program gave us a manual to follow. Yes it had general guidelines for all bariatric pts, but when I meet with the nutritionist I then discussed with her what would work for me. I am vegetarian and have several food allergies. I can't have artificial food dyes or most artificial sweeteners. My food plan took that into account. On a message board such as this you will a million different answers based on the wide variety of programs out there. When I recommend someone ask their doctor or nutritionist, I mean take the same questions you are posing here and ask them. Let the professional explain their reasoning. The all liquids phase is tough for most of us. Not much to do there but grin and bear it. I did find that using unflavored Protein powder helped. I did 2 shakes and the had vegetable broth with unflavored Protein Powder in the evenings. I hit my protein goals but having that savory broth in the evenings made things a little bearable. Lastly if you are already on a PPI you may need to increase the dosage. It's not unusual. I started at 20 mgs and had to go up to 40 mgs to get relief. pastas, rice and breads? A year out I don't eat them much and honestly, I don't want them. On the occasion I do have Pasta unless it's in vegetable Soup or something, it's bean base pasta. When I have rice, it's black, or brown. Hang in there. The early days are a challenge but worth the struggle.

Your body should eat itself, you've got enough fat to feed it. ???? What does your plan say? Are you clear liquids or all liquids. How long? How long for purees & soft foods. The liquid phase is challenging for us all. Hang in there. Make sure you aren't experiencing head hunger or acid which can often mask as hunger pains? Do not compare programs. You signed up for this one. If you have questions or concerns talk it over with your nutritionist and try to come up with reasonable workarounds or compromises.

Yogurt, Milk - Dr against both for several months
I'm not knocking anyone's program, I'm just curious as to why. I have no doubt you can hit protein goals without it. Also seems rather arbitrary to allow cottage cheese but not yogurt. I understand not allowing the flavored yogurts, but why not plain Greek yogurt?
-
When did you start eating cherry tomatoes
Week 3 /4 I think. I liked cooking them with eggs. Had them raw by weeks 5/6. If they are allowed on your food plan just try them and see.

Yogurt, Milk - Dr against both for several months
Did he explain why? I rarely use milk these days but used to drink almond milk. I stopped because it's too much carbs and fat for the protein payoff. I still use plain greek yogurt regularly though and my NUT has never had an issue with it. I'd love tot hear his reasoning why he doesn't recommend it.

Anyone familiar with this?
Those are some of the more popular protein powders. Whether you like them or not really is just a matter of taste. There are literally dozens of threads for and against each one discussing at length which ones they do and do not like and how they use them. Try using the search feature and looking for protein powders. It should bring them up.

At 6 Wks be going home for Christmas. They don't know! What can I eat to blend in?
What's on you eating plan? At 6 weeks I was allowed all foods as tolerated so I probably could have picked at tiny portions of everything.

Vitamin crystals
Never heard of them. Link?

How much weight lost in the first month After surgery?
I remember my weight loss at my 2wk follow up & and my 6 week f/u. After that it gets fuzzy. I only really keep track of my current weight. I know as a newbie it's exciting to step on the scale post op. You've been looking forward to this for a long time. Finally you'll get rid of this weight. Many have in their minds this big number . Truth is some do get that big number, but others get a small number or no loss at all. Still some even show a weight gain from being swollen, IV fluids and the like. In the end it doesn't matter. What matters is you relearn how to eat and live a healthier lifestyle.

Dangerous Diet Tip #4: Salads: Your Weight Loss Staple.
As a vegetarian in my prep-op life I strived for 50 grams of protein on a 1200 - 1500 calorie a day diet. I never did much else with the micros except make sure I didn't go over MFP default settings. Sodium was the only one I manually set to a lower rate. I was thinking I would just go back to those levels once I reached maintenance. However I think I could manage 60 grams of protein. I knew too much protein was hard on the kidneys. That's part if the reason WLS patients need regular blood work.

Hey wait a minute. Why do I only have 3 not 5 scars?!?
That's all you needed. Not everyone has 5 scars. I had a radical hysterectomy also done laporascopically 10 years ago. I only had 3 scars from that. I have more now because the surgeon made 3 (or maybe 4) incisions for my sleeve. In short, there's nothing to worry about here.

How much weight lost in the first month After surgery?
There's no good answer here. Some people even show a weight gain.
-
Why are people so mean to you after WLS?
I'm not saying you are flaunting it, I'm saying it could feel that way to them. I'm not sure why it's important that they text you back and say congratulations. Don't get me wrong, it's an accomplishment and you should be proud. It just seems unfair to expect them to be over the moon when they may be struggling with their own weight loss issues. Other than talk to them abut how much you have loss have you asked them how they are doing? Even better have you asked them what good tips they have discovered? Maybe try changing the script a little. As an outsider I just don't see their silence as being mad at you. Like I said, I'd stop talking weight loss with them at all. It may just be more than they can handle at this point.

Any Experiences with Not Obeying Doctors Orders?
Is this a common recommendation? (No dried fruit permanently?). I enjoy some dried fruit and it's kind of a staple in backpacking/camping. I hadn't heard this. :-( No. I can have it, just not in large amounts. In fact I often use raisins dried cranberries and dried cherries in oatmeal.
-
Corn
Unless it makes you sick, there is nothing you can never eat again. However the amounts and frequency of how often we eat it often has to change drastically. Other than in soup, I don't think I've had corn more than 3 times in the year I've been sleeved. I haven't had cornbread at all. I used to love them both, but now it's just not high on my list of priorities.

Why are people so mean to you after WLS?
Stop telling her. She may be dealing with her own issues and your success could actually be discouraging to her. It could feel like you are flaunting your success over hers. If she's a friend, why not just find something else to talk about? It's not their job to pat you on the back. If the friendship is worth it to you, then take weight loss out of the equation.

Snacks
Google Bariatric food Manual. Several PDF's that you can download should come up. It should cover all food stages. My favorite Snacks early on was plain greek yogurt with chocolate Protein powder mixed in and then frozen to a pudding like consistency. I also liked using a tbsp of almond butter Other snacks I like are: String cheese Single Serving pack of pistachios, cashews or almonds Peeled and diced cucumber with a splash or sriracha and lime juice.

Kibbeh
I haven't had them post-op because of the rice. if I get in a cooking mood I may buy some grape leaves and stuff them with a black rice mixture.

Kibbeh
I'm vegetarian with aims to go vegan. I barely like the idea that I currently eat eggs and dairy. Eating actual animal flesh is out of the question. I'm also deathly allergic to all seafood . I used to eat sushi, but only the vegetarian options. Sashimi is also a giant no go.
-
Is / was your nutritionist all that helpful?
My concern would be that a personal trainer doesn't have any training in treating bariatric patients who have vastly different stomach capacities and nutritional needs that a person who has not had WLS. Who provided information on your nutrition for post-op life?

Advice on how to get all your water in
I know it's weird but I could never do the really large containers. It was just too overwhelming. Refill a 24 ounce bottle 3 times a day? No problem. I actually get joy out of refilling it. It's like a small pat on the back. I mentally think "1 down" or "only 1 more to go."

Ideas for ready made stuff I can buy to eat?
I'm deathly allergic to all seafood and have been known to have reactions to strong airborne smells. I'm also vegetarian so I'm probably not one to ask for recipes, but I would think anything that could be made in a crockpot could be made in this. I've had my eye on it for a while but haven't bought it yet. You could try Eggface or even pinterest for healthy crockpot meals.
