  1. Several things at play. Are your eating? You should be getting at least 800 calories. You need to be getting at least 60gms of Protein. You need to get at least 64 ounces of fluids and regular exercise. You also will find it's harder to lose the less you need to lose. Your body will simply hold onto every calorie. You may need to increase your calories in order to lose. You could simply be in a stall. They happen and all you can do is ride them out. You could weigh yourself 3 times a day and get 3 different weights. This is why the scale is not the final say on your weight loss journey. Whether you weight once a day, once a week or once a month, you need consistency. Weight yourself in the same place, the same time of the day. Stay with your program. Also take your measurements (neck, boobs, waist and hips). Notice these changes even when the scale doesn't move.
  2. I guess it's my training as a Child Life Specialist and experience working in hospitals that kept me cool. I had done my research and taken every precaution there was to take. I probably wait 4+ hours for surgery. I got dropped off at the hospital early because my ride had to go to work. I chilled in the hospital lobby for 2 hours before going up to the surgical center. I chilled there for an hour or two before being brought back. Medical settings don't scare me. I used to give pre-surgical tours to children and their families so I know what the equipment does and what the machines are for. They couldn't start my IV. could find a vein. I was not happy but okay. I knew it would mean I'd have to get a PICC line. I did my relaxation breathing to center myself. I walked into the OR I wasn't wheeled in. I climbed up on the tiny operating table and they once again tried to to find a vein. When they had to tilt the bed back for the PICC line one of the nurse's decided to hold my hand for comfort. I had to tel her to let go. I couldn't go inwards and center myself with her external stimuli. I was fine. My surgery was easy and I was up and walking no problem. Think about how to relax yourself instead of freaking out. Once you develop those relaxation skills, it doesn't matter how long you wait.
  3. My doctor started me on omeprazole (generic prilosec) in the hospital. I was put on it for 90 days Post-op. However as I transitioned to regular food I noticed I need it more. I increased my dosage to 40mg and now I am fine. We'll recheck the need for it at 6 months.
  4. I only weigh myself once a month. Otherwise I drive myself crazy and start living for the scale. This is about health for me. I'd rather focus on eating properly and exercise. Some people weigh daily and don''t get upset. Some people do once a week. For newly sleeved people I would say wait at least 2 weeks or whenever your first post-op appointment is. There are too many factors that may impact that early weight. You could be retaining fluids from the IV, Your belly could be swollen from surgery. You could be constipated. Whatever your routine becomes do not let the scale become the be all, end all. Take your measurements (neck, boob, waist & hips). When you hit that 3 week stall seeing the difference in the measurements may help you better see your progress. When you do weight yourself try to do it at the same time of day and in the same location every time.
  5. You will probably need to set up a schedule to eat every 3 - 4 hours. You need to get in 60+ gms of Protein and 64+ounces of fluids. In between that you need to walk or exercise and take your Vitamins & supplements. As for updating your profile: On the webpage scroll to the top and click on the gear symbol next to your user name. Follow the prompts on the pull down menu. You can't get to those settings on the app so if you are on your phone you'll have to use your internet and go to the full version of the site.
  6. Since most medications are based on body weight it is quite possible that your meds will change frequently. You may need to get your levels check with each f/u just to be cautious.
  7. Did you have to use a spirometer in the hospital? It's a sort of tube with a ball that you breathe into and try to keep the ball in the air? There is a tendency to develop a little congestion post op. Try sitting straight up and inhaling and exhaling a few times a day, particularly in the morning. Also make sure you are walking. You have to expand those lungs so that congestion doesn't take hold. If the cough worsens or last longer than a week call your doctor.
  8. Welcome to the other side. Glad to hear they found a solution to your nausea. Hopefully it's onward and upward now.
  9. Thanks everyone. I'm pretty sure it's an ear infection since that's the course my colds tend to take. I just can't believe I survived sleeve surgery but it's my stupid ears that have been on the verge of tears!
  10. @@swimbikerun - It is $8.9 a lb. As for food prep. It takes finding your rhythm but I actually only spend an hour on Sunday prepping for the entire week. Since I'm on a fixed income it's much more economical for me.
  11. Studies have found that artificial sweeteners create a false dependency. They stimulate your appetite, Increase carbohydrate cravings and stimulate fat storage and weight gain. In short artificial sugars prepare your body for food that often is not coming and thus confuses your system while also making your body crave more and more sweeter things.
  12. I was weighed DOS and was 2 lbs lighter than my heaviest weight.
  13. It varies depending on what stage you are in.
  14. I wonder if it's the fat content of the Soups you are eating. During my all liquid phase I tolerated vegetable broth no problem. I would hope that your BM's normalize as you move closer to a regular diet.
  15. Trying doing a search for "Protein" or "Protein Powders". You should get several threads.
  16. I feel you. My surgery was easy but my ears are killing me because I tend to get ear infections every time I get a cold.
  17. Vegan/Vegetarian friendly options, more natural options, and stevia free options would win me over. I like Prosource no carb in the individual packs. I can then order multiple flavors.
  18. I'm swapping out clothes as they get too big. I too have everything n my closet from an 18 - 30. I've had to buy new underwear because they were literally falling off. My winter dress coat is too large but I have some jackets I can fit. Both my suits for Water aerobics are too big, but I'm only buying one to replace it. I'm mostly wearing dresses and my workout gear since they seem to look the most presentable as I lose. My pants and jeans just look crazy.
  19. Do not wait until Spring to exercise. Do something indoors, or join a gym or even take a brisk walk outside! It's an exercise class? I had no idea what it was.
  20. LOVED skiing. My favorite ski vacation was when we went to Chamonix. We were so high up that we actually skied into clouds as we were going down. I have got to get back to that!
  21. It's liquid sugar. You miss all the Fiber and nutrient. Eat your vegetables instead.
  22. I'm 4 months. I have a Protein shake in the morning and 2 small meals for lunch and dinner. I eat anywhere between 600 - 850 calories a day.
  23. It doesn't sound like you are eating enough. Are you eating any vegetables? what's in your salad. Are you drinking Water? Exercising?
  24. Go to the gym and ask. They may try to sell you a personal trainers package. If you can afford one at least short term, that's not a bad idea. However, if you can't the gym is still responsible to make sure you know how to use the machines properly.
