    Lipedema....anyone out there have this?

No, but I want to say I'm sorry this has happened, I've seen shows on TLC where people have had lymphedemas removed so they could walk, and they usually weigh quite a bit. I hope the fact they have caught it will help some how, but I have to admit I don't know a whole lot about them.

    Finally! Broke the Plateau.

@@loser2014 I know the average with lapband is about 2lbs a week, that is about what it is with any type of diet so I have had to really wrap my head around that. I also do better with exercise, and am really working on not wolfing my my food down, but you know what I think is going to be one of the hardest things for me is remembering not to drink anything with my meals, it seems so unnatural not to have a drink with your food. Glad your weight is moving down again, I know that had to be discouraging.

@@briefs199 will do, I am right now trying to stick to the stage 2 diet plan, but I had some tuna fish on toast a minute ago and I will be glad to eat a bit more variety by Saturday, even if it is in small portions.

    Many questions

@@AbruptlyBlue I think the surgeon you use is very important, I really am confident with my choice of surgeon I went to 3 different seminars and chose the surgeon that had WLS surgery himself. He gives you his personal cell number, and believes a lot of weight problems lie in the psyche, he does lean more towards lapband but will preform the surgery that your comfortable with. I love that he knows what it's like to be obese he has had his own struggles with rude medical Drs just like I have.
  7. My husband likes that he will be getting more meat so Protein side of it is not a problem, I usually will fix mashed potatoes for the kids and my husband and a veggie side for me and I will eat a little of both. I go around the plate like my Dr. said Protein Veggies fruit and then anything really high carb. hopefully when I get my 1st fill tommorrow this will have been good practice.

I had to lose 5 percent during a 6 month supervised Drs visit, I lost considrably more, Than that, during the pre op diet I lost 18 pounds. I lost a total of 80lbs by the time I had my surgery but holding steady now and waiting for my 1st fill.

    Medical Clearance

yes Cardio and pulmonary clearance also had to have an EGD
  10. @@BeagleLover I also had a primary care Dr. that everytime I would bring up WLS she would shake her head and would not even discuss the issue with me. She is no longer my Dr. I am so glad I dropped her as she wasn't giving me the right BP meds or monitoring my irregular heart either that should have had medication as well. Sometimes we really have to be our own advocates.

    Fat v protein

I think it's better to focus on Protein but aim for lean choices. Tuna, chicken, Roast beef, eggs, low fat cottage cheese.
  13. Today is day 8 Post OP, yesterday was the 1st day I was able to eat on my list of acceptable things is cottage cheese, my book says I would only be able to handle 1 or 2 bites, I ate nearly half a tub, and did not get sick, not that I wanted to get sick, but the fact that I was able to eat that much worries me a bit and I feel bad for not stopping myself I knew I had, had more than I should have, but I have been on liquids Since Oct 18 and it was so stinkin good. Now I am worried that even when my band gets filled I'm not going to feel the fullness. I am also a feeling a bit depressed, I don't know if it's the weather, I haven't been able to return to my previous exercise routine, my family isn't helping with the house they are simply waiting for me to feel better...... blah blah blah and a big sigh.

    What is happening?

I read something in my big lapband book the Doc gave me that a lot of people who have the band have trouble with steak.
  15. I couldn't be hungrier reading throught these, lol but I thought of another grape jelly on sausage and biscuits maple syrup is also good.

    What is happening?

I don't know the reason, but I am thinking of the food steak being rather tough pie being mushy and going on through. Makes me wonder if something is wrong or your not chewing thouroughly?
  17. my Dr. suggested mine, if you notice the BMI for my goal weight is slightly overweight but my Dr. said I had to fatcor in extra skin.
  18. As far as what to say because of your business, I would just tell people "yes I've lost weight, I decided to be healthier." If they say "How you doing it, give them the diet your on." lots of people who don't have WLS try high Protein and low carb and have success.
  19. I also am 38 and been overweight for a while. I didn't start telling most people until after I had the surgery, only My Mom and closest friends knew, I had incidents where one or 2 people I told tried to talk me out of it, and decided I would keep it to myself until it was over. I also am not crazy about the attention I get when Im losing weight some people are genuine but then there are those that never talked to me before who will start gushing over the fact I've lot weight and it makes me feel that is the only reason they like me.

Having the Lap Band when your broke.. help?

Have you ever shopped at Aldi's or do you have one real close, they are cheaper than Save a lot eating a lot of Ramen wouldn't be good. What about eggs? They have more Protein and really aren't that much more expenive than ramen. Also find a food bank I have found high end Protein Bars at food banks for .25 cents a piece. Hope your luck changes I am on the low income side of things as well. Hoping to lose enough to be able to return to work.

    What's wrong with me?

Nothing is wrong with you, I wouldn't like someone invading my personal space like that either, perhaps meeting guys in a different scene than a bar would be better. Like a church group, or something like that. I'm so sorry you had this experience.
