I'm 27 weeks now and no unfill as yet...
I don't have great restriction, but have noticed the past few weeks I'm not feeling all that hungry and have to remind myself to eat - I'm not sure if this is because everything's getting pushed up and squashed now.
-
I'm 17 weeks at the moment, and so far since conceiving I have lost 8 kg/17 lbs.
-
Okay... now I'm looking a little pregnant - it's popped out almost overnight.
The bigger surprise was I went for my 12 week check up last week and the doctor was checking my fundal height - and proceded to tell me I was 16 weeks pregnant ..... not 12 weeks!
So off I went for a dating scan, and sure enough, I'm further along than what was expected. So, I'm 17 weeks now.

Good luck for Thursday, can't wait to see the ultrasound pics of your little one.

I am currently weighing in at 112 kg's or 246 lbs.
This pregnancy was a bit of a surprise for us (but a welcome one).
I was only 5 months post band when I fell pregnant, I am now 12 weeks along.
This is a bit of an embarassing question, but I was wondering if there is anyone on this board who fell pregnant while they were still overweight, and I'm curious as to whether the pregnancy showed?
I'm wondering if mine will as I have quite a bit of excess skin and still have a bit if fat padding around my abdomen.

Hi Kipton
I'm wondering if the 'sugar test' you are referring to is the blood glucose test they do to test for gestational diabetes?

Hi Everyone
I also am pregnant (10 weeks), it was a huge surprise to us as we weren't planning to have any more - our bubs are 13 and 10 years old.... now we have our heads around the fact we are happy.
I am only 6 1/2 months post band, I was using the contraceptive pill - as I have been for many years - but - now a baby on the way.
Anyway, just thought I'd say hi.

Anything else: Big surprise, and big gap between siblings - 13 and 10 years, but they won't know about this new addition for another 3 weeks - just in case... I can't wait to see the looks on their faces though, they are going to be thrilled.

Chickie you are such an inspiration - I first read your story in either the That's Life or Take 5 magazine.
I had been looking into the band for about 12 months befor reading about you, your story was what made me finally make the call to do something about my weight. I could almost swear that the photo of you before was my body....
Anyway, I wanted to say thankyou for sharing such a personal journey, and a successful one at that. Congratulations - you look fantastic.
All the best for your healthier life.

I was self pay and it was a 2 week wait from the time of consult to surgery day.

I'm just wondering if there has been any news on Jen's recovery lately?

I find I am not hungry at all during TOM, my band was a lot tighter last TOM (and the week before) and I had great restriction.
Since being banded I've also found I don't have the dreaded cravings at that time like I did before the band.
-
Still can't live without my coffee, but don't drink it as much as pre-band, maybe 4-5 cups a day now.

Josh
First up, congratulations on your fantastic weightloss.
I also commend you on seeking the help you needed from professional avenues, that can take a lot of courage and I'm glad to see you are doing well.
Take care

Hi Fanny and mss,
I'm in Perth, I see Tony Kierath.
I have had pretty much the same experiences as described in the posts above, overhearing some things that make me wonder why some people even bother getting the band, but on the same note I've also heard, and had some really positive and inspirational conversations in the waiting room.
Most people I've met in the surgeons rooms have been really friendly,
but also at my local GP's often someone will start a bit of small talk while waiting, usually older people.
Where are you guys from in Perth? I'm in Forrestfield, and my surgeons office is in West Perth - I'm wondering if it depends on the area to what kind of waiting room ettiquite applies.
All the best

Hi Cherry
The same thing with the weightloss happened to me, I lost 9kg's in the first 3 weeks, then nothing else until I had my first fill.
I then lost another 4kg's between my 1st and 2nd fill (nearly an 8 week gap) - I found it extremely frustrating and disappointing. Willpower can be a b***h.
On Thursday last week I went for my 2nd fill and have lost another 1.5 kg's in 5 days - so things are beginning to turn around for me - I now have a small amount of restriction, where as before I had none.
Hang in there through bandsters hell, things will start happening for you soon.
Take care and big hugs to your little boy.

Fanny and Cherry Blue
Next time Fanny is back in Perth how about we meet up then? Maybe some more Perth people might see this thread between now and then and might like to meet too - if not, I'm still happy to meet up with you guys, even if it's just for a coffee at my place or something.

I have lost nearly 20kgs now and am quite proud of myself , but when someone stands there and says " the only way you can lose weight is to eat good and exercise - which fat people don't do " knowing full well that I have had this surgery I nearly beat the crap out of her!!
And shes not skinny either!!!
You should be proud of yourself!
As for the b**ch you work with, next time she makes the nasty comments ask her for her detailed eating plan and exercise regime - if she obliges I'd state that now you know what NOT to do, since it's obviously not working for her!

P.S - Thought I'd better just add that this isn't a serious suggestion
Pregnancy & lap banding... Will my port show?

I'm nearly 36 weeks pregnant, my port doesn't show when I'm standing up - but sticks out when I'm laying down.
