Surgery went well, I had a hernia that had to be repaired and I guess my stomach wasn't contracting when I ate like it should have, on the road to recovery now. How is everyone else out there?

I'm on for the 8th. Tomorrow less than 24 hrs. Omg. My surgery is first on the schedule. They only ask me to be on liquids clear only today. Yesterday I ate chicken and mac cheese. I had a half glass of wine as a goodbye of my fat unhealthy self.

I'm the 8th at 10:39. Think about how your health is going to be so much better!

It sounds like you have a good support system and of course your moms going to worry she's your momma! Once it's over and she sees your ok she will feel better...it's natural! I wish you all the best!

Anyone else have surgery on the 8th? I would love to have a surgery partner. I am so scared right now. My mother knows 2 people personally who died from bypass, 10-15 years ago. I didn't tell her until last weekend because I knew that she would be negative. I am 52 years old and want to live to see my grandchildren. I need to stop reading the internet and seeing horror stories! My husband, children, and best friend are supportive. I know she is scared for me, but I really need to be positive right now.

Good Luck My insurance approved mine on Nov. 21st. then after what felt like an eternity I got the call on Monday 1st Dec to schedule my surgery, and only one week of the liquid diet.. then Surgery is on 8 Dec. Today was my pre-op, and now I am starting to feel a bit anxious.

I almost cried reading your post. When the children worry its always heart wrenching.
I think that your decision to have WLS is an amazing step forward in taking back your health. Congratulations! We make our choices mostly for ourselves but our children are huge factors in the decision making.
I've not been sleeved yet but I'm looking forward to claiming my seat on the losers bench. Hope to see you there!!

Welcome!!! My name is Daja. I recently got sleeved a little over 2 months ago on September 15th 2014. I chose the sleeve because I also was an emotional eater and I could never lose the weight and keep it off. During my transition I haven't had any complications..thank god..in the beginning there was a lot of pain..mainly in the incision site where the doctor removed the stomach. But that pain only lasted for about a week. I was immediately walking right after surgery. As far as eating goes..the first 2 weeks I was on full liquid. .them 2-4 weeks I was on purees and soft. Now I am on a regular diet. There is restriction. I can eat about 3 or 4 spoon fulls and be full. I work out for about 2 hours a day. At 2 months out I have lost 50 lbs. Staying hydrated was hard in the beginning because of how much your pouch can handle in the beginning but once u get the hang out it..it's ok. ..so that's my story..lol..I really didn't have any bad experiences but good luck to you and if you have any questions feel free to ask

Welcome to the forums! Just know that the journey to getting to a healthy weight is a long one, this is not a quick fix. You have to commit to the program 100%. I was glad that I had to do 3 months of nutrition and supervised diet as it gave me a chance to feel/see what I was getting into. I wasn't perfect, but I didn't stay off the wagon too long.
As far as ins/outs...all I can say is success seems to be more of a mental game than just the physical size of the stomach. I try as much as I can to focus on the positive (minus a couple of what are now funny meltdowns). I chose the sleeve so that I could lead a healthy balanced life. I'm ready to get the surgery part of it over with (next Wednesday).

Today was an exciting day, My insurance has approved my surgery. So scheduling should happen any day now. I have chosen to do this so that I just feel better. But I know that the surgery is looked upon negatively by friends and family, My husband is aware, but we will keep it at that for now. I know this is the beginning to a healthier me and will allow for more quality time with loved ones.

Do you not want to tell family because you are afraid they will be negative? If so, just focus on your diet and do not feel the need to make an excuse for what to tell them. Focus on visiting and catching up with relatives. No one should be monitoring your food intake. I know I wouldn't pay attention to what people are eating. I am just happy to see people I don't get to see all year.
