  1. Wow....I am amazed by the fact that so many mothers are so hard on their daughters. I could never say any of this stuff to my daughters or anyone else! I was fit in my younger years. So through school and my 20s I didn't have many problems. After my second child I went down hill with my weight. Sept of 2014 I hit my highest of 250. I can honestly say the thing that had bothered me the most was running into people that I haven't seen in a while....they all said the same thing before even talking to me..."wow" I knew what they meant though.
  2. I aimed for a number where I remember myself being truly comfortable in my own skin...and it's a bit more then recommended on the bmi chart...but maybe it will change when I get closer to my goal...
  3. Congrats!! I love all of your posts! You are amazing inside and out! Way to go!
  4. If i crave it, i allow myself a little bit. Thats what got me all messed up in thw first place...i would say no sweets, no candy ect...then i would totally binge. Now i take a small piece and let it just melt in my mouth...really taste it and enjoy it. Once i try the one bite i notice the little bit i had was enough to satisfy my craving.
  5. @@B-52 i'm glad you posted this...i sometimes wonder if i should make myself eat on days like this...
  6. I would just call the dr's office and talk to a nurse...usually they are pretty good about answering questions over the phone. Maybe its just a tad irritated? I would try some warm liquids like maybe tea and soft foods for a day and see how it goes....
  7. Aw...no one has tried anything else in conjunction with their wls? I am not a seller of any of the above items so im not trying to sell anything...lol. i got invited to a workout/supporr group through shakeology....and was curious if their is any real benifit for those of us who have had wls.everyone i know is trying to sell this stuff..i just am in the fence since there are so many gimmics out there!..im gonna aim for 10lbs a month....sounds totally do-able.....
  8. Thank you for posting this! I am curious as to what others are using in conjunction with WLS! I will definitely be keeping an eye on these threads!
  9. Just got Breaking Bad seasons on DVD...I'm hooked....I also like fast & loud, catfish, and ink master
  10. I honestly can't wait for the day when people call me "skinny" lol
  11. I get this also.....the sliming. Eating way slower. Smaller bites seems to help.
  12. Ok...so hopefully I don't upset anyone with this. I know we all gain/lose at our own rate. And healthy is what we all want to be! but what are realistic goals? I feel like I need something to work towards...but would I be setting myself up for failure if I put a number on how much I wanted to lose each month? And does anyone out there use shakeology or thrive? And do we need it? Or is the band along with our lifestyle change enough? I feel like the band is an excellent tool...I just don't know if I should be doing anything else in conjunction with it....besides eating less and moving more. I'm going to discuss this with my dr. When we meet the first week of Feb. but wanted to see what others are doing... What are your goals...and how are you getting there?
  13. You aren't alone! It happens..... Tomorrow is a new day! This is a learning process!
  14. Only my husband knows.....for some reason it seemed like if I told anyone it would be exactly the way you are talking about...the competition....and for some reason, I feel somewhat ashamed by the fact that eating was one thing I never had any control over.....when people ask what I have been doing, I tell the truth. Eating smaller, healthier portions and workin out. After all no one has came out and asked if I have had any surgery. So it's not like I am being untruthful....I just left out the part that I felt they didn't need to know..
  15. I take kids chewables...the iron in adult vitamins makes me super sick...also b12 i use the drops and a gummy calcium chews which i buy from walmart hope that helps!
  16. Congrats!! I was banded 10/2014 and if i never see a protein shake it will be too soon! Lol! And yes the gas pain is both weird and annoying! Lol! Walking helped me tons! Keep us posted!
  17. How did it go?! I was so ready to be banded if i could have wheeled myself into the op room i would have! You wont starve lol and the pain is bearable! Just think of the new you! Good luck girl!
  18. Good luck! Keep us posted! remember to take it easy!
  19. @@bandedbunny, so sorry that your experience thus far has been terrible! Maybe look into another doctor just for your fills since your current doc sounds unpleasant to deal with. And i also have to wait till mid morning before i can eat anything. Dont give up! You have come so far! 15lbs is still 15lbs! Every lb is a success! And everyone is different when it comes to losing weight. I think the problem may be the doctor.....or at least thats where i would start. A friendly knowledgeable dr who can not only answer your questions but can help you work around these issues...i was banded in oct/2014 so i am not as knowledgeable as others here..but i think having a good doc matters...and then slowly experiment with your food...thats the only way i know what works for me. Trial and error. I know i have had some speed bumps, but i am sure in the end it will be worth it! There are alot of us here for support!
  20. I also can not eat until mid afternoon...i have read that alot of other people do as well. I was banded 11/2014 and it has been a learning process! I can eat a turkey/chicken burger (just the patty) but not mashed spuds! Definitely have to eat slow, tiny bites. And i drink water right up to the min i start to eat. Also protein bars are my go to. Have never had a episode after eating one. I know this may not be a ton of help, but you are not alone out there! I think we all just have to figure out what works best with our band.
  21. Wow! These are all amazing! Congrats to all of you! Lookin good!
  22. Great post @@B-52 i didnt realize how little i can actually eat. My dr said 1/2 cup. Not getting anywhere near that. But i am not complaining or blaming anything on the band. Just trying to see if any one else experiences this...my doc said everyrhing soft and mushy should be fine....mashed spuds, one bite and thats quits for me...and for me eating beef would have been my choice, but now i use ground turkey or chicken. I dont think my band is too tight as i only have 2ml in a 14ml band. I have been doing some reading and it seems that others experience morning difficulties so i feel better...not only do i feel better that i am not alone i feel better that i am down from 250 to 210 in 3 mo so i am convinced the band is doing its job. I also plan to stick this out and continue my healthy lifestyle..
  23. So i had my 2nd fill due to no resteiction on the first fill. Definitely noticing a difference. Especially with the type of food i eat. Has anyone had any experience with the following (sorry this may be gross to some) *not being able to keep anything down before mid day *not pukeing, but slimy spit up? Like pukeing but without the convulsions? Like it all just slides back out? *weird varietys of what your body can handle? I think mashed taters would be ok...wrong. but a turkey burger (no bun of course)settles just fine...
  24. I asked my Dr about it because i have the gurlging all the time! He said its normal...almost everyone experiences it! And mine gets loud...my hubby always adks "are you hungry?" Lol
