I had my first fill about 2 weeks ago...not feeling any restriction. the scale says i have lost 3lbs since then but dont bring any food around because i am hungry...all the time. Gonna try to make it back in next week for another fill...ugh the struggle. Cant wait to find my "green" area!
  2. So i know not everyone celebrates Thanksgiving and Christmas, but for those of you who do, what types of band friendly food will you be cooking? And what are your tips and tricks for staying on track? This will be my first holiday season with the band. (Got banded oct 2014) i think my will power may be a tad weak :/

    Can cross my legs!

Great post everyone! Congrats on all these milestones! I was banded in october and thought the same about being able to survive on so little....the first thing i noticed was how much i used to eat! No wonder i was gaining weight! I also noticed i have to listen to my body more. My weight loss has been slow recently, but i have noticed jeans are definitely a size too big! @@Ldimples keep us updated on your surgery! Good luck everyone!

Getting scared as it gets closer!

I also had to quit reading all of the negative! After much research i chose the lap band because of the low complication rate...everyone on this forum that i have talked to is so amazing...we all go through "funk" phases! Thats why we are all here...to help eachother through these times! Dont be scared! It is a new chapter in your life!

    Calories?

I also didnt reach my calorie goals in the beginning...my doctor stressed the protein shakes...i would force a bit down when i could because i could tell that even though i wasnt hungry or thirsty i was getting dehydrated. Your calories will come up as you add food. My doctor told ne thats when you have to be careful because some people tend to go for ice cream, and mashed spuds! My band was done mid october...and i am on "real" food..no fill yet, hopefully soon because as i progressed to the foods i became super hungry. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

    Help! Needing motivation!

Thank you all for the wonderful replies! I feel better knowing that I am not the only one out there who has these types of days-or weeks! I mean it...thanks! Going to start working out more. I notice when i stay busy i dont want to eat.....its the night times..movie nights with the family and days when i am home alone! I did drink coffee last night while cooking and it did fill me up enough to keep from picking at everything.

    Help! Needing motivation!

Needing some serious advice...so how does everyone deal and what are your secrets for breaking old habits? I am an emotional eater and probably almost always munched on things through out the day. What tips does anyone have for battling the need vs. Wanting to eat? I could not be hungry and semi-unknowingly pick and eat things....this gets tough because i love to cook and i am always making lunches or deserts for family...ugh :/ help!

    Guys...Im HANGRY!

Lol...your posts cracked me up. I too have the habbit of taste testing everything as i cook for my family....how have things been going? Has the hangry passed?
  18. Good luck to you! Dont get too stressed about the horror stories! There are bad stories from every type of surgery. The way i looked at it when deciding to go with the band is it has the lowest risk. And complications are slim.. Just follow what your doctors tell you to do...there is some reasoning behind what they are asking of you. And ask plenty of questions!

    2 weeks with my band!

Congrats! Your date will be here before you know it! So for me the two week diet prior to surgery was tough...i felt like i wanted to have a big fat burger and fries because i knew it would be my last! Lol...i loved muscle milk..full of protein and keeps you full...i bought a huge powder jug of cookies and cream! Lol..so surgery was quick. The only pain i experienced was my left side. And i honestly felt good when i took my pain meds but it made me so tired. And i was always thirsty...when i woke up from surgery my throat felt like i had been screaming at a concert all night but it was bearable...and i felt super bloated....i had to ask my husband if my stomache always looked so puffy. It was like gas and cramps...all of which were not too bad because i was so excited. Wear comfy clothes! That seemed to help!
  20. So today is my 2 weeks....first off i would like to say the journey has been actually not too bad. I have only threw up a few times and that was as soon as i was discharged from the clinic...i was so darn thirsty...other than that been good. Have not had a fill yet. Does anyone experience hiccups? All the time? Seems like i drink water and get hiccups with a sort of ache in my gut. And how is everyone's weight loss? In two weeks prior to surgery to now i have lost 25lbs. Though i am not quite sure where. My pants aren't as tight. And my weight seems to fluctuate a pound or two from day to day...normal water weight? Well i hope a few of you can chime in i would love to hear how others are doing at this 2 week post op time frame.

    Who did you tell?

Only my husband knows...my kids know i was in surgery but the deets are not out for them to ask a lot of questions.all they know is i cant eat like i used too... feel it is a need to know basis. Maybe once the weight is gone i will tell people. If they ask. But probably not. I am not that open with people.
