  1. Just a quick chime in.... I visited the website mentioned above with the weight loss calculator....i never visited the site, nor did i ever think about it. All i knew was my doctors goal for me, which was 150... And i guess i have lost more than average...i had the lap band, but punched my numbers in for the bypass as well...just out of curiosity. And either way i have lost more than average....would i have lost more with the bypass? Who knows. So yes....its possible! Easy? Heck no! But worth it! 😉

Questions on your experience with the Lap Band

1-after meeting with different doctors and talks with my husband, the lap band just seemed like the best option for me. Cost was similar, but the surgery/aftercare seemed more manageable for me. 2.no....not any hair loss. But im pretty pro active as a woman creeping up to her 40's. I take my vitamins religiously. 3.honestly, i can eat almost anything....its more of an issue with how much time i want to take to eat....i have to eat slowly and make sure i chew well...especially things like steak. Now i can nibble on a piece of bread, but to take a bite of a dinner roll...no way. What i really miss is chugging cold water when i wake up in the middle of the night.... I cant drink fast at all. 4. When the constant hunger was gone.. 5. The #1 tool for me has to be my gym. Good luck with your journey!
  4. Ok...so looking for some advice. First off let me start by explaining that my work schedule is hectic...im out the door by 530am and home roughly 530-6pm Im a mom and a wife so that also keeps me busy. I have a home gym with plenty of equipment, free weights, and bars/weights, pull up bar, elliptical, spin bike, treadmill, bowflex, weight benches and powerline p2x machine with the leg press...so no i never go to the gym and meet with personal trainers because i just dont have the extra time. every night i work out...i run a mile, or spin for roughly 30 min (aka my warm up)...just long enough to get the pre work out to kick in. Here is my routine not too detailed, but what i rotate...usually pick 5 exercises that target that spacific group and do 4 rounds of 10-15 reps Mon- warm up + 1 hr back Tue-warm up + 1 hr shoulders Wed-warm up + 1hr arms/bi's/tri's Thur-warm up + 1hr legs Fri-warm up + 1hr abs Sat-warm up + 1hr chest Sun-warm up + 1hr back And rotate back through the list. So long story short... the roughly 1.5 hours that i have avalible each night is my max time...you know before dinner homework ect. My delema is this...i wanted to do another round of insanity (30 day program) to switch things up...its about 45 min long cd's. Is it worth quitting the weight lifting/warm up to do a month of crossfit style exercise? I only have time for 1 or the other....

Anyone out there a weight lifting/fitness pro?

Lol arnold lifting😂 wow thats awesome you are a personal trainer i could literally pick your brain for hours..... My job is quite hectic im on my feet all day so 10k steps is a pretty common day.... I always felt that the run (which is a mile and usually under 10 min)/spin would work as a warm up to get my blood pumping and head in the game after a 12hr shift. (And let that pre work out kick in!) I never thought it would hinder my weight lifting! Im definitely going to give your suggestions a try! Thank you!

    Mr. Stinkybreath

I keep biotene mouth wash in my purse and the mouth spray in my lunch box....kind of a pain to lug around, they are both a bit bigger then say a pack of gum...on the bright side i see a ton of youngsters wearing fanny packs these days....maybe you can pull that fashon trend off and pack an assortment of items to try?

Anyone out there a weight lifting/fitness pro?

I was banded oct of 2014...so a few years now. There is no way i would have enough steam to do cardio after weights. Lol...usually im bushed...but i will def. try! So when you say resistance, isnt weights via machine say rows or leg press considered resistance? I always read cardio warm up followed by heavy weights less reps, till you cant complete with good form, followed by lighter weights, more reps? Ugh...so much different info...maybe swap one day out for cardio? And see how that goes....

    LAB PAN SURGURY

    Lap Band Removal or NOT???

No issues....unless i test "her". All the problems i have ever experienced have been my own doing...not following the band rules... I stick to a plan and workout every day... Best of luck to you...its definitely not an easy road...
  18. I know my restriction levels change quite often.....even things like humidity play a factor.....has anything changed?

Scheduled for Lap Band - Success vs Regret?

As of right now i dont regret the band. For me, at the time i (and my doctors) thought it was the best choice. I have reached my goal and i am very well aware of the work it takes to keep my band in check. I watch what i eat and i work out every day... I have never had any issues, and hopefully i never do. I followed everything my doctor told me and spoke with him or the nut/nurse when i had questions...i also came here alot in the beginning. There are a few of us banders left.... Good luck on your journey!
  20. This is intresting, and a tough one for me to rank Because emotional and mental health definitely play a part in coming to the conclusion that we need help, and the weight loss surgery isnt a fix all, and it takes work. If you arent ready to change your lifestyle, nothing will change. Without the right support, we often have a hard time succeeding. We need the will to succeed to push ourselves to diet and exercise. The surgeon is also very important....they provide skills to help you succeed. Luck...im not quite sure i believe in this playing a part. Luck for me would be winning the lottery.... I came to the conclusion that i needed the surgery and my will to succeed along with support from my family got me here....no luck involved...my own blood, sweat and tears Emotional/mental health Will to succeed Support Surgeon Diet Exercise Luck

    Body Dysmorphia

I totally relate....with all of this. I see old pictures of myself and it freaks me out. I look so huge next to my husband and it will make me sad. I didnt realize how big i actually was. And not once did he ever say a word about getting bigger or gaining weight. Even now i have body issues....when i work out all i see is flabby skin. Even though i am pretty fit. And i see muscle definition. im always getting clothes that are way too big, and i still get nervous trying on clothes in a store... Maybe it just takes some time for our minds to catch up.
  24. So im usually pretty good with my food choices. But i am human. Here goes....my drug of choice? Reeses peanut butter cups...not the regular. The white chocolate. OMG....delicious I keep a secret stash, downstairs in the freezer....😋
