  1. @@gigi14 There is no surprise you have inflamation, I know I had an awful time with the last few weeks of having the band.In fact I finished up in ITU and it had to be removed as an emergency as I could not even drink water.Let me reassure you that at least in my own experience the sleeve has been completely different and I have no regrets at all, only that I wish I had been sleeved from the start.Pippinleicester
  2. @@gigi14 I had band to sleeve revision and the surgeon told me that when he got inside if the band had caused any damage he would have to do a by-pass. I was his first revision but when he checked during the surgery he said all was fine and so he just sleeved me. I have been completely fine and find the sleeve ideal .Pippinleicester.

  6. These tea bags have recently come on the market in uk,they are made with green tea which I usually cant stand but they have given them lovely flavours including gingerbread, salted caramel, fudge melt and cherry bakewell all of which I love.I dont know if they are on sale outside of the uk but you can buy them on Amazon.Anything that helps me get in more fluid is great and these are really different and a welcome change.I really dont know if green tea has health benefits but I love the taste of these.Pippinleicester.

@@Soodoo You have nothing to fear although of course that is exactly what you do !! The surgeons have done this operation many times and it helped me to think that every time I got into my car to drive I was taking a much bigger risk. It just helped me keep it in perspective. You have a wonderful journey in front of you, where you are free from being under the lash to your appetite. My very best wishes to you Pippinleicester.

@Kate_UK@Soodoo. I sometimes don`t like to mention this too much because I know some people have awful experiences but the whole thing has been a piece of cake (pardon the pun) for me. I had virtually no pain and was back at work in a week.I have had no problems post-op and am still losing steadily every month, perhaps not as fast as some but I had a band before this and people who switch tend to lose slower.I am still delighted with my 70lbs loss and best of all those scales are still going down and never up.I am in a real groove now with the new way of eating and feel like I could carry on for ever.Pippinleicester.

@@chrisredjeep Hi I had my op on 17/11/14 and I am thrilled with the outcome.I now do nordic walking aquafit and cycling, before I had trouble even walking.I am going for a check up with the surgeon this evening.Great to hear from you Pippinleicester.

@Hi I am 66 years old and had no health problems so decided to self fund.It was the best money I ever spent and if you can afford it I would urge you to go ahead.I would really love to hear from other uk sleevers.I have had absolutely no problems and though I still have 3 stones to go I feel fit as a butchers dog and am wearing size 16 clothes.Pippinleicester.

    Is there anyone from UK

Well done, you have lost far more than me but as a band to sleeve conversion they told me I would lose weight slower.I too am delighted with this op and would recommend it to anyone.Have you been excercising at all I go nordic walking, cycling and aquafit now,It used to make me out of breath just putting my trainers on lol.Pippinleicester
  15. Hi Lindsey,I am also band to sleeve and have found that I have to accept that my loss of weight is slower than many others.Surgeon said that top of my pouch was stretched from the slipped band. The thing is not to weigh to often, I weigh once a month and can honestly say that I have never failed to lose weight any month.I have lost 63lbs in 7 months which compared to some people is slow, but I know that this is a marathon not a sprint and I could happily eat as I do now for the rest of my life.I am free of the grip that food had over me,and I still lose steadily every month.I have taken up nordic walking and go cycling and aquafit a couple of times a week I am 66years old and feel on top of the world.Pippinleicester.
  16. pippinleicester

Ok its droping slowly but surly

Good for you, I decided from the beginning not to weigh often and not compare myself to others.I weigh once a month and have consistently gone down and never up some months a lot some not much at all but I have always lost and that suits me fine good luck.Pippinleicester.

    MMMMM BAKED EGG CUSTARD

I have always had trouble with protein shakes or bars as I just can`t stand the taste.I have started making a baked egg custard which is very easy to make and I make it with milk, eggs, stevia (which is a natural sweetner)and sprinkle with a little nutmeg. If you want you can enrich it with some skimmed milk powder. It is just so delicious a real old fashioned food and full of protein.I can eat it any time hot or cold even for breakfast. If you are having trouble getting all your protein give it a try.Pippinleicester.

    MMMMM BAKED EGG CUSTARD

There are loads of recipes for but i used 4 large eggs, a pint of skimmed milk ,two tablespoons of stevia and nutmeg to taste.I beat all the ingredients together except nutmeg which i sprinkled on before baking.I think your oven settings may vary from the UK so i will just say bake in a low to moderate oven till set.Just put in baked egg custard in computer and you will get loads of recipes just use stevia instead of sugar.pippinleicester.

  21. I work in a hospital and pre-surgery somebody took a bite out of my scotch-egg and put it back with the teeth mark.I took to putting a note with a skull and crossbones on it pointing out that I had spat on my food before putting it in the fridge.Gross I know but completely untrue.Pippinleicester.

    Sick of the drama

I too found some posts rather rude and judgemental and found it was rather putting me off this site. However it did not take me long to realise that it was pointless trying to reason with some people and that I did not value their opinion anyway. I simply blocked their posts so that I never had to swallow their bile and now these people simply do not exist for me.Just go through the posts and you will soon see which names crop up regularly in conflicts then erase them from your life and make your experience of this site much better.Pippinleicester.

Over 60 and having the sleeve

Hi Jim, I am 66 and had my sleeve on 17th Nov 2014. Sewing machines

I have recently re-discovered my sewing machine.Haven`t put in a zipper for 30 years but found lots of help on youtube.Saves me money and earns me lots of brownie points from my family as alterations cost a FORTUNE nowadays. You need things post-op to keep your hands busy and this is just ideal.Pippinleicester.
  25. Hi Cleo`s Mom, I too had a really bad experience with the band it never worked for me.I veered between no restriction and violent vomiting.I had to have it removed as an emergency as I could not even hold down water even with it completely empty.I know some people are fine but it was a complete nightmare for me.I felt so low and such a failure after that it has taken me almost 2 years to have a sleeve. The difference is as between night and day.I have had a really trouble free surgery and was back at work in 10 days and I am 65years old.For the first time in my life I feel free of the torment of being out of control with my eating. If you were a loved one of mine I would absolutely say have a sleeve it is the best decision I ever made. Please message me if you have any fears.Pippinleicester.
