    NSV -- Bathing Suit

What a great NSV! Congratulations on the smaller bathing suits, meaning a smaller you.
  3. This week I walked my dog down to the small public beach along the beautiful St. Croix river. Kids are back in school so it was a very peaceful morning down there. I sat down on a half buried log to enjoy the view. I was watching some fishing boats go by when I realized that I was hugging my knees to my chest. What? I was astounded that I just naturally did that without thinking about it and that it was comfortable. Six months ago I couldn't/wouldn't have done that. Hurrah for that NSV! I was tickled pink as they say.

This NSV caught me by surprise

@@Jovie62 Thank you for the compliment. I'm a retired teacher and was an English major in college, I love writing, although I don't do it much anymore. Perhaps you have inspired me to write more?

    People's expectations of you...

I guess you will have the last laugh when you lose a significant amount of weight after a few months. In the big picture they won't be making those comments about you for much longer.

Well, I made it! (after pics)

You have done so well! Congratulations! As another slow loser I have always been encouraged by your posts. Good luck with the sale of your house, so much work!

Going in for the BIG reveal....

@@CanyonBaby Praying Dave finds his appetite and gains some weight. I will be praying for the upcoming surgery as well. Thanks again for the update, things are looking up, that surgeon sounds like a Godsend ! God bless and protect you both.

@@B-52 Well look at you! Here's to "older" WLS people living the dream!
  10. @@Rogofulm Sorry if I sounded like I wanted to kill the messenger. Forewarned is forearmed I do believe, however sometimes my emotions come into play and I just don't want to hear about the hard stuff. I can do hard stuff! Your information just reminded me that I must do the hard stuff if I intend to be successful long term.

Going in for the BIG reveal....

Well, God is good ! What great news! Will continue to pray for you both. Thanks for the update. Take care of yourselves.
  12. I appreciate the information you have posted. I am close to 7 months post-op and was pretty discouraged by the info posted by rogofulm. I plan to print out your post too. I think it will help when I reach maintenance. Thanks for thinking of us and sharing what you learned.

Great progress, you have done well!
  14. I will have to admit when I read this it depressed me. Then I told myself that if I just stick to my program for the rest of my life I will probably keep the weight off, followed by the thought that when it's all said and done, I will still be better off even if I only keep 50% of the excess weight off.

Going in for the BIG reveal....

I have been praying daily that the tumor will be minimal and easily removed, no metastasis, and for remission. Praying for good news today. Press on!
  16. Congratulations, what a milestone!

    Making a life changing decision

Well, if we couldn't stop losing weight we'd all be dead and it really wouldn't be a very effective surgery if that was the end result. As @@Babbs mentioned you will lose the weight if you work at it, following your doctor's plan. We all went through some of those worries legitimate and senseless ones too. You will be fine as long as you have a great surgeon and a good team.

Should I cancel my surgery? Help!

I already owned one of those hand held immersion blenders, which I hardly used. I hated pureed foods so I stayed on the full liquid phase a little longer. Premier Protein (chocolate flavor) shakes are my favorite. I think you made the right decision to go ahead with your surgery. I was pretty much recovered after 5 days.

Obesity! Will that word follow me to the grave :(

@RJ'S/beginning I sure hope you get some answers from her. I can't imagine why the specialist wrote that on the referral, you are obviously not obese. I am sorry that word hurt you so much.

    How long was hospital stay?

I spent two nights due to nausea and not being able to drink as much as they wanted me to post op.

    Surgery date

I hope you have an uncomplicated surgery and a smooth recovery.
  23. borg/assimilated

Wow - can it be real?

I was pretty much back to "normal" after five days. I could have gone back to a desk job after a week. Everyone has a different rate of recovery, so you could go back in a week or need longer it is hard to predict.
  24. You have done well, congratulations!
