    So...a water park happened...

Wow! Here's to you schlepping up and down steps with tubes in a swimsuit, stepping on scales in public and having the energy to enjoy it! Happy days!

    My nsv this week!

Imagine being able to walk those two miles as if it were nothing at all! That is where you are headed! Great progress, and you are right, all of this will really help you adjust post-op. You have a wonderful sense of humor- that will also help.

Quick! I need help on this one!

" Have courage for the great sorrows of life, and patience for the small ones; and when you have laboriously accomplished your daily task, go to sleep in peace. God is awake." Victor Hugo ( don't know what I did above that my post went up before I was finished, probably hit something by mistake) Still praying for you daily, will definitely be specific as to your request above. Remember Jesus' parable about the neighbor knocking on the door repeatedly to ask for bread for his visitor? God knows what is on our hearts and yet...... I think he knows our need to ask and our need to be reassured that He is listening. An abundance of love coming your way from Minnesota.

Quick! I need help on this one!

@@CanyonBaby I haven't looked at this sight for a day or so, so I am late with a response. I agree with a lot of the advice you have been given, so many wise people here. Why is it when a fellow Christian hurts us it seems so devastating? I think because we are all one body in Christ and it seems so pointless to hurt part of your own body. They will need to answer to God for their thoughtless words. On the other hand, none of us is perfect here on Earth, so as others said pray for them and try to let it go. If you still think after things have settled that they need an upbraiding , then by all means tell them how their words affected you and your husband. I recently came across this quote from Victor Hugo and you immediately sprang to mind. "

Anyone else have very slow weight loss?

Okay, so there is always someone who is worse off than you. I lose about 1 to 1.5 pounds per week. Only one major stall at about three weeks out for about 2 weeks. I walk 5 miles six days a week, and follow my dietician's plan. What can I say? I tell myself at least I am losing!

    I'm Alive!

Happy you are back. Not too much longer and you will have the house to yourselves again. Who knew life could be so hectic, and yet everyone is still surviving!
  10. I may get some raised eyebrows at this. My choice of surgeons was serendipitous. I started by looking for Bariatric centers of excellence in my area. I then wanted one that was closest to home. They had one of those information meetings at an affiliated hospital very close to home, so I went to that meeting. Went home pondered a little, called for an appointment which took a month to get in. Went to that appointment saw a bariatrician m.d. and a nurse. The nurse asked which surgeon I would like to use and I had no clue. I told her that Dr. Koeplin had talked at the info session and that was the only one I knew about. She said she scrubbed in with him and thought he was excellent, so I said "okay, I'll go with him." When I saw my PC (who is a friend) she told me how much she liked him and how she had chosen him for surgery on her thyroid. That was enough of an endorsement for me. I finally met him about two weeks before surgery and he was the best choice I could have made. He is very personable, highly skilled, has a sense of humor ( not often found in surgeons) and did a fantastic job.

    What Are Your Must-Have Foods?

I have stated many times my love for Chobani key lime blended greek yogurt. I stock up when it's on sale, and when it's not I still make sure that I have plenty on hand. I actually get nervous when I see my husband eating one of MY yogurts (possessive am I?). I also like to have Quest protein bars in the house at all times. Flavored bottled water (s.f.), Crystal light are some other keep in stock items.

    Stress incontinence

It improved for me as well. I joked with my surgeon that he fixed my bladder while he was in there.

How Do You Get Over the Guilt?

Having been thin until I was 37 ( when I had my first child), my guilt was in that for some reason I simply could not lose any significant weight anymore. So yes, I felt guilty that it took WLS for me to start losing again. I wish I'd had the intestinal fortitude to have this surgery before my BMI was 42!

    What Are Your Food Ruts?

I have Chobani key lime blend yogurt every day for breakfast. I will add in about 6 raspberries or blueberries or cherries etc. to change it up a little. I love, love, love it! For my other meals I mix it up quite a bit.

    Hair loss

Oh I hate the hair loss! Every time I wash my hair I say to myself this is the day I'll notice fewer hairs coating my palms.........not yet. My dietician said it typically lasts about three months from start to finish, so I am hoping that in the next two weeks it should slow down. Oh I live in hope. Babbs is losing hair again at 11 mos., please God, no! As disappointing as the hair loss is I am thrilled with the weight loss, so it's not a perfect world.

Benefits of losing weight slower than expected

@@butterfly23 I am also a slow loser. I love bullet point six, which I have found myself thinking as well. If I hadn't had WLS wouldn't I be thrilled with losing 4-6 pounds a month ( which is what I have averaged the last 3 months)? I am losing! I sometimes have a little concern over not losing as much early post WLS as it is supposed to get harder after 6 months, but maybe for us slower losers it will just continue to be slow and steady?

    Uncertain futures

@@CanyonBaby Thank you for another update. Have not flagged in my prayers for you and your husband. Losing pets at this time is adding insult to injury as they say. Those pets are valuable members of the household, and I know you will miss them tremendously. Plus we all know how they bolster us up when we are sad or not feeling well. Well I guess it doesn't need to be said, but God loves you both. Sending Minnesota hugs to you.
