Pmease check with the Dr on tje Iron. Taking Iron by itself can kead to nauseous ness and you will want to take that a few hours after or before your Calcium as both fight for absorption. All of this takes time to develop a routine but it is so worth it!!! I am nearing 2 years post op and still learning. 2 years ago, I was 405 lbs....weighed myself yesterday and was 230.8!!

Once I get back to sucking down the H2o...eating and eating good resumes! Hope thos helps! Sent from my VS987 using the BariatricPal App

My name is Hannah. I am 23 years old from the DFW area. I am 3 days post op. I had gastric bypass surgery on 12/16/16.
My highest weight was 465 and I had to lose some weight before surgery, so when I weighed in on the day of surgery I was 419! I haven't weighed myself since surgery. I figured it probably wouldn't change much in just a few days.
The only post op struggles I am having are gas pains. I also scared myself a bit when I drank Water the first time. I drank far too much and felt like I was dying. Not a fun feeling!
I am a little hesitant about my journey. My boyfriend broke up with me right before surgery after spending the entire 8 months before helping me prepare and sharing tips and tricks with me. I'm worried I won't be able to do it without his support, but I know there are support groups I can join.
Let me know if you've just had surgery, too. We can be buddies!

That's pretty much normal. I bought a recliner prior to surgery because I knew I was going to have trouble sleeping since I'm a side sleeper. Even taking my pain meds, I'd only sleep a few hours at a time. Everyday it gets better.
The first week is the hardest. Hang in there!

All right dang it! You know that ya gotta get somethin in ya! Seriously, I believe that we all have times where our bodies just aren't responding in a happy maner. I had days like that pre op too. Now that we are post op we are finally listening to our bodies. Get in some liquids or soft foods (I could really go for some pudding) and pound a Protein Shake if you need to.

    Good morning everyone!
I just wanted to share my excitement this morning... I hit a stall that lasted 2 weeks... I finally broke out of it and starting dropping weight again.. as of this morning I am down 154lbs!! My first goal was to lose 50lbs then 100 then 150 next is 200.. I'll admit the stall was a drag but man am I ever grateful for this surgery.. I wouldn't have been able to lose this much on my own ever.. I still have ways to go but it's the best feeling ever. Yes I hate the drooping skin but I love not being 465lbs!!! If your feeling bad or hit a stall don't worry so much..it's temporary

Hormones will make you crazy. The hormones stored in fat flush out into your bloodstream and cause you to feel out of control sometimes. Depressed (serious deep depression), anger, bouts of crying and instant irritation (short fuse syndrome) are all possible, for as long as you are losing weight. Would have liked to know before for this and alert close family that sometimes I might blow up or start crying and might need to excuse myself (or ask for help).
That the surgery is not the magic bullet you think it is. There is real work involved and it's not just healing from surgery - you have to use the honeymoon time to throw out ALL of your bad eating habits and learn what it means to eat healthy, whole foods. If you don't do this, you will lapse back into eating the old way, and likely regain most of the weight you lose in the first year or two. The surgery does help to reduce your portions permanently, but it mainly is a tool that helps you to lose a large amount of weight and reduce hunger and give you a fighting chance to replace the unhealthy eating habits. This is the most important part of this whole thing - and they just don't emphasize this enough from what I've read over the last couple of years. It is REALLY easy to eat around a sleeve if you go back to crap foods (high carb, fat, calorie foods).
How important it is to face up to your unhealthy food issues/relationship (binging, eating for comfort, using it as an emotional crutch, whatever). And find healthy non-food ways to reward, comfort, deal with stress. It has been HARD realizing how much I used food for so many things beside basic nourishment.
