  1. Has anyone actually started their pre-op diet yet? If so, please tell us all about it, what you're eating/drinking and how you're feeling? Also does anyone watch Youtube channels of people who have been sleeved. I watch all of them, but have recently found Leah's VSG Channel, which is one of my favourites. She went from 226 I think to 125-130, which is my goal too so shes super inspirational and talks about ALL of the good and bad things we may have to face. Anyone else watch her? Good luck to all! X
  2. Good luck Chris! Mine is only 6 days after yours You have support from me and our stats are similar! please feel free to message me anytime At least you have 4 weeks to recover, that is a nice amount of time. I have 2 weeks so I hope that will be enough! I am more worried about the surgery itself rather than the post op way of life....but I am sure it will all go fine. Xxx
  3. Wow ge0rgette2, you're getting so close to the date! Good luck and please keep us posted on how it all goes. I will be rooting for you! I will definetly attend the post op support groups too, and I am looking into getting a therapist to help emotionally deal with the change. I need to start getting prepped too re the Proteins I do and do not like, supplements, etc My doctor recommended eating LOTS of tuna to prevent hair loss, so I am going to buy hundreds of cans of that! X Good luck to everyone in December, great to see so many of us going through at same time, so we can all help each other. Does anyone have a youtube channel? Let me know as I will defo watch X
  4. I'm not on Facebook, I guess I can't join the group unless I sign up to Facebook? X
  5. Hi Hannah, yes we should meet up!! I was living in Purley, Surrey, but have now moved closer into London around Sydenham/Catford. It would be great to have someone to actually talk to in person who has gone through the same journey I know how you feel, my brother is one of those super fit guys so he keeps telling me to just work out and eat well...if only it was that simple I will send you my number via message (if I can work out how) X
  6. Good luck to all of us!! This time next year, we should all be completely different, healthy, in control people Plus looking great!!! XxxX
  7. Ladiec2 - wow yes our stats our super close! Let's keep in touch to see how we're all doing Well to everyone having December surgery - good luck!! Does anyone else not have any family support at all? I think I will be in the hospital on my own which sucks, but who knows, maybe they will support me in the end. I guess we all have the chance to change our lives now, just have to make sure we work with the sleeve and not against it and regain. PLEASE keep in touch
  8. Hi Ladiec2, thanks for your response. I will reach out to your sister and all the best to her! Good luck for yours as well and let me know when you have had it and how its all going! x Hi Pheonix, thanks for your response too. Wow yours is so close how are you feeling now? Yes please definitely let me know how you get on!! Lets keep in touch as we're having it so close together! I will message you x
  9. Hey guys and gals, Is anyone else having surgery around Christmas? If so we can be friends along the way If anyone is in the UK especially, I would love to be buddies and meet up post surgery!! (Im in London) I know it might seem mad doing it over Christmas, but my work is closed for 2 weeks then so it seemed perfect, plus I dont have to take any days as holiday or lose salary My WHOLE family are trying to talk me out of it, which isnt great, but I know they are just concerned about the surgery. I am definitely concerned about gaining weight back, so think I will get a therapist to work with me regularly post surgery, to deal with the mental issues (I binge and have laxative addiction) while the sleeve helps with the physical. Anyone else doing this? This is going to be a hard journey I know, but I just need to change my life, finally. I have been battling too long, fluctuating too long, and need to do something to help. My stats = female, 24, 5 foot 5 in height, Lower BMI current weight 200lbs, highest weight 230lbs, lowest weight 170lbs, goal weight 125-130lbs, battling with weight for 6 years. Jess X
  10. Hi Amy, That would be great thanks so much. I will inbox you now
  11. Hi Thinkingthinner, Thanks for your response, I appreciate it. What I'm tending to hear is just what you've said, the early stages you regret it because of the pain and transition but later on there are no regrets, which is good I really will try to work hard on my diet and exercise too to make sure I'm not one who gains it all back. Congrats on your natural AND sleeve loss! Amazing and inspiring thanks again Jess
  12. Hi Onthefencejenny - youre right, I want to eat becuase I have to, not because I want to, that is the goal. I dont want to crave food and its taste anymore, I just hope my appetite is genuinly reduced! Congrats on your loss, amazing!
  13. Hi Cowgirlane, Thanks a bunch for your feedback. If I get it, I really hope I would be one like you who gets the weight off and keeps it off I would need your help big time! I might get a counsellor too to emotionally support me
  14. Hi! I am in the research stage and really want to have a phone chat with someone who has had the surgery and had similar initial stats to me, as I just want to hear your full experience. Ideally someone who is at least 6 months out. If someone has time to REALLY talk to me, could you let me know and message me? I am all ears!! And skype is fee I'm in London UK so am happy to call when convenient for you. I am 24, female, 5'5 height, 200lbs (230 was my HW), goal is 120-130lbs. BMI is 33. I have battled with my weight fluctuating for 6 years and want to finally halt the regaining as I'm creeping back up to my HW. Thanks so much X
  15. Hi everyone, Thanks so much for your responses. I will take your advice on board and search more on this forum (I was using it from my mobile earlier but it is so much easier to follow on my laptop!) It's great and inspiring to hear about positive experiences and CONGRATS to everyone on their success! Cowgirljane, thanks for breaking down the main reasons people regret it - that does follow with what I have seen on here. My biggest concern is your point 3 - people that have it and dont lose any weight - I am scared that would be me VSGANN2014 - do you know why WLS is only successful in 50% of people - is this because they still feel hungry and overeat? This is one of the biggest problems I can't fully grasp with the VSG - if I currently have problems controlling my hunger and diet, and I currently make the wrong choices, how will the physically smaller stomach stop that? I get that it reduces appetite and how much you can take in at one time, but I have read about people still felling hungry, and even gaining weight! I would just hate to do this, to still feel like I need to overeat and still crave foods. If I do that now, how will surgery make that go away
