  1. I am only 10 days post op. I honestly can hardly tell I had surgery. If it wasn't for incisions, zero hunger, irregular poop, and eating/drinking taking more time, I wouldn't know I had it. zero complications, I feel amazing. I have been a bit more emotional than normal the past 2 days. I have no regrets, aside from not doing this 10 years ago.

    Meds

I was swallowing my pain pill and valium in recovery. I also take omeprazole daily. My vits are all chewable though.

    Illness and appetite

My NUT said to always up your protein when sick. Your body needs it to heal.

    Frustrated and Weak

It sounds to me like you may need a bit more protein, and definitely more calories. At some point your body goes into starvation mode, and just stored everything as fat. You need closer to 800-900.
  5. Penny likes her life just how it is. She controls everything from her bed. Her husband is clearly a few cans shy of a 6 pack, and her poor little boy will be following in his dad's footsteps. I agree with the previous poster, her son should be taken to live with functioning family members. Her husband needs to leave her. She is abusive in her control. Everything is about her, even his trick or treating. It is about control for her, I do not believe for a minute she is a victim in any way, she knows exactly what she is doing, and exactly why she isn't losing weight. She is a manipulative, miserable human being.

    How to tell the kids

Oops, I meant to add, this is a very personal procedure, there is no harm done if you choose not to tell your kids what you are doing. It really isn't anybody else's business.

    How to tell the kids

I told my kids what I was doing, why I was doing it, and that it is important to me that it remain a family secret. My boys are 19, and 12. I also have a 14month old, but he isn't taking!

    Sleeve on Prednisone

Prednisone. I hit reply too fast! I get bad bronchitis, and sometimes pneumonia. I get prednisone once a year, at least. Sometimes I just don't take it, it really depends on the severity of my illness.

    Sleeve on Prednisone

    I hate predisone. So much.
  11. I take Oneprazole, generic prilosec, 20mg capsule, and have no reflux. I wonder if it makes a difference if you had reflux before? I have never had an issue with it, the only day I felt a little burny, was the day after surgery, but they said that happens.

Cheated every day of 7 day pre op diet

One piece of cheese is not going to hurt anything. You realize people have surgery daily, with no pre-op diets. If you have basically followed your surgeon's instructions, you will be okay. I had a real rough time with my pre-op. Oddly enough, my liver isn't even remotely fatty. He said it was perfect. That being said, I do not advocate cheating, and have followed my post-op instructions to the letter. No nausea, no vomitting, no issues. Good luck everyone.
  13. Yes, some pain at the larger incision is normal, as they stitch itnto the muscle. I know, because I called 5 days post op, when I couldn't walk upright. The incisions can be sore for 2 weeks, during the healing process. Take some Children's Tylenol, or the pain meds the doc gave you.

    Fed up

I lost 3 pounds on my preop. Doc still sleeved me, and my liver was perfect. Don't be discouraged.

  16. I am 7 days post op and do not regret a thing. I have followed the guidelines set by my surgeon and NUT, have had zero nausea, no vomitting. I get all my liquids, and protein in. I do not miss food at all. I am not hungry. I see people sleeved at the same time as me, already eating regular foods and doing fine also, but I really feel like I did this to change mt life, not find a new way to cheat. Best decision of my life. I am not looking back. I would recommend the procedure, as long as you can follow the post op instructions.

    Complications Poll

I suggest watching you tube vids. There are some great people who documented their journeys. Vsg kirk is amazing. Know that most people who do what they are supposed to, won't have issues. The more research you do, the better equipped you will be. I would tell anyone to RUN and get this done. It's a great tool to get your life back, to be fit, and enjoy life.

    Recovering from Surgery

The only real pain I have felt is in the largest incision, as it is stitched to the muscle. There was some gas pain for a few days. Burp, a lot, fart if you can. I had an amazing surgical team. I have had no nausea, vomitting, I have no issues drinking water or protein drinks/shakes. Not once have I regretted my decision to have this surgery. I suggest following your doctors instructions to the letter. I am a natural rule breaker, a pusher of the limits..but not with this. I want Little Sleevie Wonder to heal and be happy! You will heal faster, and feel better if you do as you are told. Provided you went to a reputable surgeon, they know what they are doing. Take time to rest, get your protein and fluids in. Make your proteins and fluids the same thing. Take your pain meds, your antacids. You will thank yourself later.
  19. I make sure my fluids count! I use Isopure, mixed with Crystal Light, or Powerade Zero. 10oz Isopure=20g protein, and 10oz fluid..add the powerade/crystal light, and I am getting 20 oz fluid, and 20 g protein. I also flavor some of my water, I have found that I really like Powerade Zero drops. They taste good. Crystal Light is good too. Just keep sipping all day long. You can do it. I am on day 5, and I just make sure I have fluids, or a protein drink, sometimes both, with me at all times.

    Funny story for today

I am on day 5 post op, and I have found that even the most well intentioned people have a difficult time grasping the concept of all liquids, no solids. They just don't get it.

    Difficulty with protein

I was sleeved on Feb 18, I am on day 4. I have been mixing most of my protein drinks with milk, the exception is I use water for my Unjury Chicken Soup, and Powerade Zero for my Isopure. I like getting my fluids, and protein in at the same time.
  22. For you Feb sleevers that want to join the secret Feb fb group, pm me your fb name and maybe a description of the pic, so i am able to add the right person. Since the group is secret you cannot search it.

No poo here yet either. I don't feel like I need to go, at all.
