    Any Washington State Sleevers?

I just met with Dr. Landerholm last week. I will be having my surgery after the 1st of the year, due to needing to change insurance plans. He was wonderful, did not talk to me like I am a sick child. I am very interested in making some sleeve buddies, pre and post op. I live in the Mill Creek/Snohomish area.

    Insomnia

I haven't had my sleeve yet, but I didn't sleep for days after my ankle surgery. I would doze for 30-45 min, be awake, and all groggy for hours, doze again. I think it's a side effect from the general anesthesia. You just have to wait it out.

    2day liquid pre op diet

My surgeon does a 2 week high protein, low carb diet, similar to Atkins.

    Endoscopy

Hi everyone! I am new here. I have my first pre-op appointment with the surgeon tomorrow. I will hopefully be sleeved mid-late January. My question is this, does everyone get an endoscopy?

    Endoscopy

No endoscopy for me because I do not have any reflux or indigestion. I do have to get a sleep stufy. I would probably rather have the endoscopy.

    Lap band vs gastric sleeve

I have not had my surgery yet, but I chose sleeve over band for a couple of reasons. The 1st being, my sister in law had it done, barely lost weight, gained it all back and then some. 2nd, I have 2 friends that were sleeved, and they are doing fantastic! I want a permanent change, and to be successful!
  8. You may want to talk to your NUT about upping your protein. When I was on a restrictive diet, I lost more if I added a little extra protein. Not much, but it made a huge difference in my loss.

    Endoscopy

I guess it depends on your health issues. I have 2 friends that had it done, no endoscopy. I completely forgot to ask them before I posted this. What about sleep studies, does everyone do those? I do not have sleep apnea.
  10. I am new here, too. I have my 1st appointment with the surgeon tomorrow. I have been obsessing about post op for months. I have to change insurance plans in order for the surgery to be covered, which is why I am just having my 1st appt now, but have been freaked out for months. I have a 9 month old baby, and I am really worries about post op care for him. There is a lift restriction. I am worried about getting dehydrated, getting enough protein..all of it. I had ankle surgery 12/31/12, as a result of being booted for almost 2 months, I developed a blood clot. It is totally gone now, but that scares the poop outta me. These message threads are really helping me know what to expect pain wise, loss wise, and food wise post-op. I think support is the most important thing! Well, that and knowing what to expect!
  11. I think some people are oblivious to others, and some people are hesitant to talk about weight. You are doing a great job, and I bet if you take a pic today, and compare it to a pic before surgery, you will see a huge difference!
  12. I have my first appointment on Oct 8. I am really nervous. I have 2 good friends who had the sleeve done, where I am going, and had amazing experiences. I have to switch insurance plans in order for it to be covered, so I am looking at January or Feb. I also have to look into how flex spending acct works, as we will be paying out of pocket for the dedictible.
