I'm so glad you posted this! I have a BMI of 35 & I'm 5'2" 190lbs but also have sleep Apena so my insurance is covering it. I am a little worried since my bmi is on the lower end (but still high) that my weigh loss will be much slower.

You sound just like me! 192 pre-op diet 186 morning of surgery and sleep apnea. I am 1 month 5 days out and couldn't be happier! Don't get me wrong the first two weeks were tough but I would do it all over again!! I am as of this morning 164.6 I had a 12 day stall that everyone experiences and totally panicked. Once I got through that I have consistently loose .5 lb everyday or sometimes 1 lb a day. I am walking 3.5 miles (takes 1 hour) 5 days a week. Eating 2-3 oz at a time mainly Protein then waiting 30-45 minutes to drink. I use my timer on my phone for every meal to make sure I am eating slow (30 minutes) You will do great it just takes some planning for meals and I never leave the house without a Quest bar or turkey Jerky just incase I get stuck somewhere without a good choice.

I have a mini crockpot that I use several times a week at work. This little thing is amazing and everyone that has seen it has bought one of their own! It plugs into an outlet and will have your food piping hot within an hour. It holds 20 oz. I'm hoping to get as much use from it post surgery as I am now. Go check it out!

    Hello everyone!
My surgery was yesterday in Houston and everything went as planned including repairing my Hiatal hernia! They gave me something to relax about 10 minutes before they took me back. My surgery took 1 hour 15 minutes then I was in the surgery recovery room for 2 hours (I don't even remember being in the surgery recovery room.) My husband was anxiously waiting for me in my hospital room. Yesterday I felt pretty good because I had an automatic morphine drip and I also had a push button if I needed more (I loved that thin) I was up most of the night with everyone checking on me. Respiratory breathing treatments 3 times (15 minutes each time) checking my BP and puls-oz and changing out my IV fluids and antibiotics. It's way busier than during the day! I would recommend bringing ear plugs if you are a light sleeper because of all the movement in the hallways. This morning they stopped my automatic morphine drip so all I have is my push button. 2 ounces at a time up to 5 times -an hour! I had my barium swallow to check for any leaks and no leaks!!
I will have to say drinking that Fluid 4tablespoons totally filled me up!! Make sure you tell them that your stomach is the size of banana so it won't take as much liquid to coat your stomach. I had to stand up because It didn't feel like it was going slow. 20 minutes after we got back from that....my chicken broth, Jello and Water showed up. I drank 1 ounce of the chicken broth that took me about 15 minutes to sip it all. I also had two bites of raspberry Jello.
If anything it feels like in having a very bad period!!

In my experience, the pain itself was gone after the first few days as long as I didn't move around much. I stopped feeling twinges of pain when I twisted wrong at about 5 weeks.

I thought the same thing initially and my first night home was almost in tears wondering what I did to myself. At 6 days post-op, I no longer had pain each time I got up. Yesterday, 7 days post-op, I didn't need my pain meds at all! So believe me when I say, each day gets better!!! Keep your chin up and know that better days are ahead!

Those liquids are definitely tough to get down the first 2-3 days post op. I struggled the most the during that time just to get 1oz each hour. It will definitely get better with each passing day I can assure you.

By day 9 or 10 post-op, all the discomfort I was feeling went away. It took a few more weeks before I could lay falt on the bed or lay on my side without feeling a pulling sensation inside. I think I was back to my normal self by the end of a month.
The liquid pain meds I was given tasted so disgusting that I went without. My stomach was rolling and complaining all day, every day for that first 10 days. But everything quieted down after that.

You should feel much better in a day or two. Then better every day.
You should feel fully normal in 2-3 weeks. It goes much faster than I'm sure you can imagine right now.
    Hang in there
