  1. Thought I would check in now that I am functioning. I had my surgery last Wednesday. Was in the hospital for six days. Because of other medical problems they used NO paralytics. I had a revision from a Nissan. I feel like I am doing GREAT. Not really needing pain medicine now. Hate cruising my pills and taking them it is so gross. Have my fist follow up appt tomorrow. I gained twenty pounds upon release. That IS a lot of Fluid to retain. It is taking its sweet time leaving the system. If I rested more maybe that would help it leave. For the first six days I thought I had made the biggest mistake. Over that hump and feel I made the right choice. Thanks for letting me ramble.

  2. Today Oct 15, surgeries are:

    @@Melora,

maybe @@OnePhatWhoDat and @jasminebsn. (Those dates are not updated in the "upcoming surgeries" thread and I have not heard from them in a while but at one point they stated they were having surgery today.)

Good luck Gladiators your new you awaits

I am waiting in the waiting room to go back for surgery prep. They are running behind by at least an hour. SO frustrating.

  3. I just went through this. If the papers were faxed there is an electronic receipt. They have 30 days which they can approve or deny. My insurance took 29 of the days to approve. Both the patient care coordinator and we were calling and just getting the run around. We documented every call so the next time we callec and they said they had no record , , we read ours. Sudflenky they woukd find the paoer work. A call to customer servive was helpful. Hang in there .

  4. Anyone have any suggestions to avoid getting sick prior to surgery? Feels like I'm getting a sinus infection and I'm afraid I'll get cancelled. Suggestions?

l have serious sinus issues. I discovered a nettie pot. I use only Water that had been boiled, and faithfully do it everyday. Along with the saline packet. I have not needed antibiotics since I began several years ago. I am worried while in the hospital because I won't be able to do it. It's worth a shot.

    Hi,

I was looking over your list I am going in on Wednesday. I was under the impression that the hospital pharmacy provides the medicine while you are admitted. Is that incorrect? do I need to bring my meds from home?

    Thanks

  6. Melora - Where are you having yoru surgery next week? There are a few support groups in the Portland, Salem, Beaverton, Vancouver (WA) areas. We have talked about starting another one with the people in this group as well.

    thoughts?

I am having my surgery at OHSU. I have attended a support group at OHSU. I would like to attend one that is not associated with the dept that is doing my surgery. Since I just found this website last week I am not sure what has been discussed but a simple meet up would be a place to start.
