  1. My surgery was May 20th and the hair loss began in late August. It hasn't seemed to even slowed down yet.... it's freaking me out! I take my multis, biotin and get pretty close to hitting my proteins daily. Please be honest and tell me about your hair loss. I knew going into this that hair loss is a side effect, but I wasn't prepared for it to be like this.

When will the hair loss stop?!?!

Liquid silica? Wow, I'm learning so much from this thread. Thanks for all the suggestions, I'm going to start some research

When will the hair loss stop?!?!

Biotin shampoo... ohh, interesting. That's the first I've heard of that. I guess hair regrowth is the silver lining of slowed weight loss. Thanks!
  4. Stop weighting yourself daily.. it will mess with you more than help you. Stick with "naked early Monday morning weigh ins post pee".... after a few weeks of breaking the scale habbit, you will never look back at the agonizing daily scaling.
  5. Miralax!! Take it daily for 2 weeks then reduce it until you find your balance.... once, twice a week maybe more... you'll know when it's right for you. Perk: it makes you get an extra 8oz of liquid in before bed. Also, if it's safe for children and pregnant women, it cannot be bad

    Not losing very much

The only way I can keep possitive when I'm feeling down about how quick (should i say slow) the weight comes off is by putting it in perspective... have you ever lost 6lbs in a week? Probably not, so enjoy it, savor it. 6lbs is excellent. I hate to say it, but there will be weeks of stalls or losing only ounces.... those weeks are rough. Please don't let a massive loss like 6lbs get you down. Be proud, stay possitive, be patient! You are on your way to the new you.
  7. I am 7 weeks out and it was recommended by my surgeon and 2 nutritionists to stay at 500-700 a day depending on activity. Some days I can barely make 400 if I eat super healthy, while other days I have gone as high as 800 due to poor food choices. I'm still learning, but my body does well at/around 500-600 while still losing weight.

    Onederland!

Congratulations!! I entered ONEderland on 7/6!! Similar to you, it was at least 7 years since I was under 200.... and seeing that number on the scale is amazing! I cannot wait until my next doctors visit when we no longer need to move the scales weight from 150 to 200. That will be a moment to remember
  9. Let us know if you like/dislike it.
  10. I often get the question "how much have you lost so far?" But I never know where to count my losses from. What milestone do you use? - The weight I was when I became determined to have WLS, 250+ (not even close to my all time high) - Start of my presurgical diet, 240 - Day of surgery, 222 I am down to 202 - so is that nearly 20, 40 or 50lbs?? I also like to follow up lose stats with pant size loss... to give those pounds more perspective. ((A tight 22 to a lose 16 btw woohoo!)) Thanks all!! And best of luck to everyone on this journey.

What weight do you count from?

I just had 2 people that I haven't seen since thanksgiving pull me aside and express how great they think I look and congratulate me on whatever I am doing (they don't know about the surgery) And That made me feel better than anything!! Although all the numbers and stats are important, unsolicited acknowledgement of my efforts is what I think my real motivation is!!!
  12. I feel like my not eating makes the people I am with uncomfortable

    Mfp

You can add me. I would like more friends too for the same morltivational purpose. Esom21
  14. Unjury is what I use. I like it although even without flavor the texture of foods certainly change.

    May sleevers

Who else feels weak, nauseous and faint at times? Is that hypoglycemia?
  16. Are you feeling better? Did your stall budge? Keep us posted.

    Weight Loss

    Totally possible. Enjoy it!!
  18. I was back to work on day 6. It was exhausting but without disability, I needed the $ .. despite the surgeons 2 week recommendation. I am now almost 3 weeks post op and I feel Great!! I think getting back to work forced me to get past the post surgical hump.

    Day Five...hunger

I found that the hunger subsided once I started on solids. When I feel a mild hunger pang I now drink water to hold off until my next solid meal.

    May sleevers

I don't measure, I let my body tell me when to stop. But I would estimate I am close to .5-.75 cup of soft (like cottege cheese) or approx 3oz of solids (like chicken and beans). I've experienced eating 1 too many bites once, and once you feel that, you will be sure not to do it again!!! It's a terrible feeling.

    May sleevers

Hi, I was sleeved on 5/20 and I feel great (despite the fatigue). I am already on solids... is anyone else there yet? Liquids were hurting me so my surgeons PA suggested I move along to solids, since it's rare, but some people do better with it opposed to thin liquids. And now I'm not having any issues with any of the foods I am eating. I am really surprised this whole process is as easy as its been. Last week I had a slight stall which worried me. I was stuck at 212 for 5 days and then this morning it broke and I was down 4 lbs overnight..... it felt good and made me realize that these stalls I have heard so much about, are real. Good Luck Everyone!!

    Curious

My surgery was 5/20. I find that I get really tired after I eat. I know a few people who were sleeved several months earlier and they still feel the fatigue after eating. The best cure I have found is to rest for 30 mins then get active. I also try to make the most of my meals by packing in the protein to get the most energy.... but I still could sleep the day away if I didn't have responsibilities lol. I can't wait to be 6 months out and be used to all these changes. GOOD LUCK!
  23. I am in the information-gathering stage of my journey. I am trying to gage where most lap-banders begin and what was the one (or many) facts that made you go for lap band opposed to the sleeve. Thanks!!!!
  24. Thank you all for sharing your insights. It's very good to know that there is a resource like this that I can use throughout all phases of this process. I wish you all continued sucess!!
  25. I agree completely... my biggest fear at this point is to wake up in another 5 or 10 years and realize & regret that I have wasted even more time, become bigger & unhealthier. This was my realization these past few months and I will not allow myself to sit idol and relive some of the sad, pathetic, embarrassing experiences I recently encountered. Thank you all for your inputs, you have all helped me and I love hearing your personal stories because I can truly relate!! I hope that my venting about where I am in my journey gives you some perspective or jolts a memory of your own and makes you remember where you were and in turn gives you a pride boost. I want to be where you are, I want to be on the other side of this conversation.... I'm just nervous about making such a huge life decision Thanks again
