Endoscope-painful?
My doc also did a biopsy with my endoscopy...the endoscopy is to check for any abnormalities in your upper GI tract. The actual biopsy checks for bacterial infections that could be problematic after surgery. I was told it takes 2 weeks for the results of the biopsy to come back.

Endoscope-painful?
Just had mine last Saturday and yes they knock you out. My throat was sore a few hours later.

Endoscopy
Thanks! I was super nervous about being put to sleep for a procedure but it really wasn't that bad. It was like I took a Benadryl and had a nap lol

Plan B
Thanks for your input...I am not at all worried about surgery in Mexico. I work in a nice hospital in NYC and I've seen mistakes been made. Doctors all over the world are good, not just America. It's good to know booking can be made 2 weeks in advance.

UHC is driving me crazy!
I have UHC choice plus. Yes there was 6 month diet program but NO additional 6 month wait after that. Sounds like the person you are speaking to doesn't know what they're talking about. Have you called the bariatric resource center for UHC? They would have the best answer.

Uhc insurance and bmi
Yeah I have a tentative date of 1/11/16 and I'm hoping everything goes well with approval. Perhaps you should cal your bariatric nurse they optum assigned to you and get your questions answered on record. Just in case ya know ????

Stressed..
I haven't been sleeved yet but your progress sounds great. I wanna be like you with 43lbs in 9wks...I don't want some HUGE drop. I also plan on sticking with weight watchers meetings after my surgery. I find it very helpful to sit with people who have the same struggles with food. You really do learn tips to make better choices and even if you mess up they teach you how to not beat yourself up over it and fall into depression. Also...would it be possible for YOU to get a job? Your daughter may be eligible for free pre-k in your area. Sometimes SAH moms just need to get out into the workforce to feel a sense of confidence and mingle with other working women. ????

What did you tell people about your absence?
I plan on telling them. But I prefer to tell them afterwards. I work in a hospital full of medical professionals who will figure it out lol. I have a few co-workers who I am SURE got it done but I don't ask because I know it's a taboo thing and quite frankly their medical history is none of my business. Therefore your medical history is none of theirs. BUT people are not stupid. These surgeries are becoming a lot more common and whether you want to share or not they will figure it out. If you are uncomfortable with a big lie then tell the truth. You may be saving someone else's life ????

6 month non-surgical weight loss regimen?
I had to document my weight, diet I was trying and physical regimen. Make sure your physician is writing this in your chart. Diet types included: Low calorie, low carb, jenny Craig, weight watchers, etc Physical regimen: Work out DVDs, personal trainer or gym..make sure you write how many times per week in your chart I was attending weight watchers all year so my insurance included that as part of the 6 month...they only required me to see the doc 2x because of that.

Uhc insurance and bmi
I also have UHC Choice Plus and asked the same question to my Bariatric resource nurse. She said no, only the initial weight is what matters. How did you get Pre-approved? They never discussed that with me.

Plan B
Hey there! I am in the pre-op phase of the VSG. Done with all of the pre-op testing and have a tentative surgery date of 1/11/16. I have 2 jobs and both of them make their schedules 2-3 months in advance. I put in request for the 2 weeks of 1/11-1/25 and most likely I will get what I want. Heres my problem, my surgeons office will not submit paperwork to insurance until 2 weeks before 1/11 which is sometime around Christmas...my work schedule for Jan will be done 1st week of Dec so Im a little worried by the possibility that I could be denied so close to the tentative date. Therefore, Mexico is my Plan B if insurance doesnt approve (for whatever reason) because I dont want to be scrambling around at the last minute trying to explain to my boss why I needed to be added back to the schedule. My questions: -Are there any pre-surgical requirements? (lab work, tests, evaluations?, BMI Requirement) -How much time in advance do surgeons need to book?

Just got approved!
Congrats ladies!
