  1. Just a quick note to let you all know Valentines Day will be exactly one month since my lap band surgery and I cannot tell you how happy I am that I have made this decision to better my overall health. Within the first thirty days and 10 days prior to surgery on a liquid diet. I have lost a total of 44 pounds. When I went for my first fill 2 days ago I was in total awe. I did notice my blood pressure became a lot lower than usual. I was told by the awesome staff at NYU langone to see my physician regarding my BP meds. After seeing my physician, he immediately took me off one of my three meds that I have been taking for the past 15 years. "One Down - Two to Go" Since my surgery I have to say I am eating better, being more aware I what I eat and looking for a healthy lifestyle for the rest of my life. I will check in from time to time and thanks for all your support!!!!
  2. Congratulations, that must feel awesome!!!!
  3. So its been a week since my LapBand surgery and I have to say, not much to complain about. Maybe for a few minor pinches by my wounds when getting into bed. But other than that it has been smooth sailing so far. Whats great about this is that since I started my PreOp liquid diet until today which is 20 days. I have lost a total of 29.5 pounds. I keep hydrated, drink all my Protein, (more when hungry...which is rare) and take my walks when the weather allows me. Everything is going great! I see my doctor for the first time this coming thursday. Thanks for all your support during this time!!!!!
  4. Best of Luck....you will do fine
  5. Well after six months of planning, lab tests, docter visits, psychological evalutions and a 14 day liquid preop diet. My Lap band surgery was completed 2 days ago. I was truly blown away of what an amazing and truly professional job the staff and my Docters at NYU Langone Hospital in New York City did for me and my surgery. From me being admitted, surgery, recovery and discharge, the staff at NYU will go above and beyond for you and your family. I was released the same day and I have to say the only discomfort I had was some bloating and pinching near my incisions which is normal. In the beginning, I was skeptical and a little scared of going under the knife. But I totally agree with all the other past banders on this site who gave me the support I needed to make the first step. I thank you all for that and for your support. And to all you contemplating WLS for yourself. Think it over, then think it over again and if its right for your by all means go forward and enjoy your life to the fullest. I will check in from time to time to let you all know how my progress is going. All the Best!!!!
  6. GNC Lean Shakes are great tasting and have 25 grams of protein and 170 calories. Also, egg white protein shakes by Jay Robb sold in HNC as well
  7. Well after 6 months of Doctor visits, Blood tests and a 14 Day PreOp liquid diet. I go into surgery to get banded tomorrow. After all the failed diets, fad diets, pills and everything else I have tried. "And I have tried them all" It is time for a new beginning and a new me. I was thinking last night how being overweight had kept me captive in my own body. Watching my kids grow up and not being able to run in the park with them, sit comfortably in a movie next to them, even go to amusement parks only to be told I was too heavy to ride some attractions. This all comes to an end tomorrow. With my new weightloss "Tool" and am now ready to take on the world and everyone in it. Hope to all speak to you later on this week!
  8. Best of Luck!!! I am scheduled for surgery a week from today. To a New Year and to a New You!
  9. Considering the amount of food I would eat through the day, I am really amazed that I am sailing right through this. With my lapband surgery just 8 days away. I think I have a great hold on this whole thing. Wish me luck!!!!
  10. Incredible Job, all the best in the new year
  11. Your on the way, and by the way I started my liquid diet on the first as well. Surgery is scheduled for 1/14...get ready for a great 2015 and a lot less of both of us!!!
  12. Congrats... I am right behind you. I am scheduled for Jan 14th. Started my PreOp Diet on New Years Day! What better way to start something like this!!!!
  13. Congrats... That is awesome!!!
  14. And so it begins! Wish me luck!!!!
  15. Jan 14th, can't wait to finally get this done
  16. Well today it finally happened. I was given my date for my lap band surgery. Finally after all the years of shopping for whatever fit me then shopping for what I wanted. Finally after all the years of standing behind in a photo to hide instead of up front. Finally after all the years of food being in control of me, I will be in control of my food. In a little over a month everything that has always been in front of me will be behind me....way behind. Wish me luck!
  17. After tomorrow appointment, I will have just 2 more meets with my surgeons staff and surgery should take place in early January 2015. While I'm very excited about this, I do come upon some band horror stories. I keep telling myself that won't happen to me and I will get through the surgery fine. But it's always in the back of my mind. Wish me luck!
  18. Hey Matt, Joe here from NYC, I too recently decided the best thing for me to do is to get banded as well. The ball has begun, I am 2 1/2 months from getting my surgery and I know this is the best thing for me. All the Best!
