  1. My surgeon says to get 60g of Protein. (although it's REALLY hard at this stage) But they said the more protein, the more you lose.

And maybe a call to your Dr.'s office/ nutritionist might be the next step. Maybe they can give some suggestions. 3 weeks seems like a long time with no loss!

I'm supposed to get around 90g of protein a day.

  2. Well, I had my first big outing since surgery. On Saturday, one of our local beaches, Siesta Key, was having a Sand Sculpture Competition. My husband and I went and met some friends there. We brought chairs so I could sit. My chair was one of those recliner type folding chairs. I pretty much stayed in that chair the whole time listening to the live bands on the beach. It was so nice to be among the living again and breathing that beach air! I was hurting pretty bad that night though. Still taking baby steps in my recovery. And now I think I have hit the dreaded stall. I have pretty much been at the same weight for 3 days now.

  3. On a good note.....finally ummmm, ya know! Amazing!!!! But I only got about 3 1/2 hours of sleep so my honey let me sleep in this morning and be late for work. So I just got up at 9:30!! Better get my butt in the shower now and go help him at work! (We work together) ;-)

Woo hoo!! Doing the happy dance for you! Well, as well as I can from my recliner. ;)

  4. The nurse called me back this morning. I have to go in next Thursday and have a scope out down my throat. She said they may have to dilate the opening a bit. I should not be having reflux. :-(

Ugh, that doesn't sound fun. I hope it isn't anything too serious and it will be easy for you!

  5. Girl! You had an "open" surgery! Your recovery is going to be slower. :P

Those little 10 minute walks will definitely help, and it always pooped me out, but yet, I was in less pain. (not so stiff, etc.)

12 pounds is ALOT!! You're 2 weeks out, right? My 30 pounds is from when I started the 2 week liquid diet until now. So that's a full month. (and 5 days) You're doing great!!

I know. I'm just ready to feel human again! :) I will be patient. :-). I just 'ate' my last liquid meal! Strained Cream of Mushroom Soup made with skim milk and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored Protein. On to puréed tomorrow!! I am so excited! My taste buds are so ready for some different tastes.

I swear I just felt my old tummy growl. Is that still possible??

  6. Yay! keep doing those little 5-10 minute walks! I'm up to about 45 mins now. But I started the same way. My 8yr old would "walk" me to the end of the block and back. :-)

You're going to LOVE that scrambled egg!! That's what I had too--but be aware, you may only get a few bites in and you'll be full. :-)

I hate that it has taken me 2 weeks to get that first outside walk in. This recovery is so slow. I weighed myself this morning and I have only lost 12 pounds. Everyone else is losing so much more. It frustrates me. I am hoping once I am able to walk more, the weight will start to come off faster. I just need to be able to walk by myself without needing to hold on to somebody. :( I can never do anything easy!

  7. How are you@@kimodell69

I'm doing ok. I get the rest of the staples out tomorrow. I can't wait! They are itching and pinching today. I counted, and they took out about 30 out last week and I have 14 left. I knew I had a lot, but yikes!

Still having the burning and ripping pain, but it isn't as bad today. I went for a walk outside yesterday for the first time! With help from my husband. We didn't walk far...just down the street a bit and back. But it was nice to get out. My husband was joking saying its time to take me for a walk. Like I need a leash or something! LOL!

I start my puréed diet tomorrow. I am soooo excited! I have 2 cookbooks that I have been going through looking for puréed ideas. Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook For Dummies and Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery. There are some yummy recipes in there, but I am really looking forward to having a scrambled egg for breakfast tomorrow! :)

  8. hey guys!! so i wanted to let you guys know that i am going home on monday!!! yay!!! and also i can see my uhah effortlessly now, god shes pretty :) lmfao. i havent seen her since before my son and boy is it hard to shave something you cant see lol. i am doing my happy dance all over this floor lol.

That is wonderful news!! So happy for you!!

  9. So, those of you that are on or have already been on the puréed stage, do you have any yummy puréed suggestions? My nutritionist said everything has to be puréed except for 3 things. Scrambled eggs with a little low fat cheese, cottage cheese, and a little Peanut Butter on a spoon. I start this stage on Friday and I am so excited for some more variety! Did anyone use the pre-made baby food like Gerber?

  10. Beni, I agree with DoraP, I would cut the Protein Shakes. Work on small frequent meals. And tons of water! That will flush the ketones your body is making. You could possibly not be flushing them with that many meals. My doc said, the most important thing the first 4-6 weeks is hydration not Protein, you could re stretch your pouch too soon. This surgery will work for you???? it's hard to keep optimistic when the scale doesn't budge. You can do this! ????

Strange how different the docs and nutritionists are. Mine stress both the liquids and the protein. They say the protein helps the healing process. So, I am drinking 3 Premier Protein drinks a day. They are 11 oz. each and it can take me a good hour to finish one. The other 3 'meals' are 3-4 oz. of something like low fat strained cream Soups, cream of wheat, baby oatmeal, low fat Greek yogurt, diluted V-8. I am still on the full liquid stage though.

  11. Hey guys,

So I'm 1 month out and I get a burning type pain from my belly button to the upper right side of my incision. I feel it when I get up out of my chair at work or when I bend to far.anyone else feeling this? Oh I posted about pain a few days ago but gas x/ and heating pad fixed me right up. This won't go away

Yes! I am 2 weeks out today and have been getting this burning pulling feeling since Sunday every time I stand up or walk. I have 7 incisions one of which is 6 to 8 inches long. The big one is where I feel this pain. I have been putting a heating pad on it a couple times a day. I'm not sure it is helping, but it makes me feel better!

  12. Thank you. I am so frustrated and sick of the pain and want to get off of this emotional roller coaster. I still burst out crying for no reason at all. I know I need to be patient and I am just healing slower because of everything. Apparently they took out quite a bit of scar tissue from that area. It's funny, the actual Gastric Bypass part doesn't hurt at all! Oh well, thank you for letting me vent. I do still have 14 staples left in that big incision. I get them out on Friday, thank goodness. On a positive note, I get to start the puréed stage on Friday! I am so looking forward to having a scrambled egg! :)
