    Any Tennessee Sleevers Out There?

All the best to you and your wife. Dr. Woodman is an awesome surgeon. He's a bit blunt but its necessary. I was sleeved by Woodman and never had an issue with him until my last visit. He came into the room complaining about the lady he saw before me had been, "eating ice cream" and then he went on a tirade about how i had only lost 5 lbs since my last visit and how I wasted my time and his by having the surgery. I will not go back to see him again. I have followed his guidelines as best as I can. I dont eat crap, I excercise, I get my Proteins.....i have not gained an once and I have lost 10 inches from my waist....also went from a 3x shirt to an XL. .....i didnt need any discouragement from somebody I am paying. .....BTW....he charges $500 up front and my insurance said he is not allowed to do that. Like I said, I will not see him again.
  3. Blerdgirl. .....quit being so confused...im more than meeting 60grams of Protein, im just not doing it with supplements. I clarified that more than once on above statements.I applaud you for this statement! I read these forums and she seems to always have an opinion about other people's plans. It's rather frustrating when I read a question and she always always always has thrown her opinion in which comes off as being all knowing which unless she has an MD quite frankly im not going to pay too much attention to! I am also with you and never had any issues with drinking or eating. Honestly Id talk more with your nutritionist and surgeon about what to do then people's suggestions on here. Everyone seems to have a different opinion and your surgeon and nutritionist have seen what works in the past with other patients. My surgeon says no fruit for the first 3 months some people think that's crazy but he's seen how helpful it is for weightloss with his patients, doesn't mean every one should try it if that's not what they were told you know? Good luck! Thank you....some think they know everything, but each case is its own....basics are basics, but when dealing with different body types and different medical issues, things change. Im glad i have a surgeon that realizes the things that help that may not be the cookie cutter answer.

  5. Then why aren't you getting in 60 gms of protein? The theory s that the body cannot process more than 30 gms of protein in an hour. If you are sipping longer than that you're fine. I am getting the correct amounts, just not getting it through the premier Protein Shakes.....and I've never had to sip anything since the 2nd week. I was one of those that was really wondering if I even had surgery. I never had ANY issues that I've read about on here. None of the, "I can only eat a tablespoon of something", none of the " I throw up", none of the "im in so much pain"......it's really been a strange few months. I've followed the advise of my Dr to a tee.....exercise daily, eat correctly, the whole nine yards. My Dr has a great program and the staff is there to answer any questions that arise........although I have not had many questions at all. I can easily get most answers right here. I've found that I am not alone when it comes to these things. It seems like every Dr has his or her own way of doing things and the differences an be quite astounding. I was told to crush my meds, some on here never had to crush meds. I was told to drink 2 Premier Protein shakes a day, some are told to sip on all morning long. I know there are basics to the surgery and the months afterwards, but there really is no set in stone plan. In all honesty, the studies are still not concluded as to what is really supposed to take place because there are so many variables to each individual.....yes, there are basic guidelines, but there are as many variances as there are guidelines. My Dr has a plan set up in a binder and they say follow the plan, but there are things in it that would never apply to me since I did not experience some of the adverse side effects that some people do. Thanks for the input and thoughts and advice. Maybe the loss will start back like most everyone else's has. If not, I see the Dr again soon and we will see what the follow up provides.
  6. Too clarify....the surgeon said to cut the protein shakes to below 60, NOT total protein intake.
  7. He did say no supplemental ( premier protein) was needed at this point and those may be the reason that things slowed down. He told me that what i was eating contained the protein needed. I didnt question because he was very straight forward with his answers and explanations. I don't think this surgeon has went against anything ive seen or read on here or any other sites. It was a strict requirement to get 60-80 grams of protein for 90 days after the surgery. He just said at this poibt, the food intake would replace the protein shakes. His entire program is laid out in a binder given to me weeks prior to the surgery and it clearly states that when normal food is able to be consumed, supplements should be reduced or even stopped. Those shakes have way more protein in them (30grams) then what my NUT says my body can even process at a time. Either way, im sure ill reach my goal, if nothing else, this tool has been a blessing by getting me off my diabetes and blood pressure meds. I appreciate your words, but i, in no way feel like my surgeon has veered to far from the norm.
  8. I didn't question his reasoning as he is the expert and he said my intake od 2 premier protein shakes a day was what he thought was hindering my loss. He was happy with the weight loss between visits. I didnt start out at a very large weight, so my loss so far is about half of my goal.....im just reading the posts and am discouraged that it has not fallen off more quickly...i have not gained any weight though, so i guess thats a positive.
  9. Blerdgirl.....my surgeon said to cut out the protein intake to below 60 grams, so im not sure thats my issue
  10. I was sleeved 12/16/15 and lost a quick 30 lbs.....since January, i have held steady. Not doing the 60 grams of protein and not eating high carb or high fat foods. Excercise has increased, but still not getting 180 minutes a week. I need to double that i guess, but something has to give......its good to have lost many inches, but the weight loss part is starting to disappoint me.

    Meds

See...just what i thought, there is absolutely no common ground rules to follow. Each surgeon has his or her own way of doing things. I totally forgot and to a pill and capsule last week and i didnt die. Crushing these pills makes me think im wasting a lot of meds because ive spilled them. Ive bought 3 different crushers.. none have been perfect.......my pills are no larger than capsule sized. I dont want to not follow the Dr's rules, but if there is no gain to crushing, i really need to stop.

    stomach size

I'm also wondering the same thing. My question is why are some people saying they can't eat more than 2 baby spoonfuls of food???? I was able to eat an entire can of chunky Soup with no problems 4 weeks out. I have not felt the bloating or fullness that most everyone seems to report. I know I can't eat an entire pizza, but I can get in more than a couple of baby spoons of stuff/

    December sleevers

Sleeved on 12/16 .....have had absolutely no issues other than my taste and smell has been screwed up, but it coming back. Started at 259lbs and im stuck at 233.....have been there since mid January. No problems eating, but blown away with these people claiming only to be able to eat "2 baby spoonfuls" of food. Heck, i can eat an entire can of soup.....i move to stage 4 menu on the 16th, but have no desire to do so. Ive learned to like my premier protein chocolate shake each day and applesauce (unsweetened). I haven't experienced any pain. Im able to do what i want ( and have since the day i came home from the hospital (12/17).....this "stall" is giving me fits though....im so ready to drop some more weight.
  15. I, too, wondered if i had surgery. I am at 1mo, 20 days out and ive never felt nauseous, never felt full.....i hear people saying they can only eat a couple baby spoons full of food, but i have had an entire can of progresso soup.....i didnt think this was normal, but this thread proves im not the only one. My taste and smell was totally screwed, but i think its coming back. Im only down 28lbs from my surgery day. My surgeon said i was doing fine but he told me to cut my premier protein down to one drink a day instead of two. Thanks for this thread as it has settled my thoughts down a bit.

    Taste change?

My taste and sense of smell has changed. Chicken broth now tastes horrible and the smells of normal everyday things are sometimes unbearable. ...not sure what the smells are like is just something I've never smelled. It's kind of a chemical type smell. I used to love Progresso chicken noodle soup. I can't stand the taste or smell now (and I bought a bunch to have during my pureed stage) A lot of "fresh off the stove" foods also have that horrid smell. I also bought a lot of applesauce, it still tastes really good to me. This is so strange. My Surgeon's nurse said things will return, but my Surgeon did not give me that hope. Anybody else have their smell and taste return?
  17. Had my surgery on Dec 16 and my sense of smell and taste is completely screwed up. Been on liquids since Nov 24 and you'd think I would love to smell any food...there is nothing!! Is this temporary or permanent? ?? Others experience this?
  18. I had mine on the 16th in Memphis. I drove and went shopping on the 18th. My Dr said as long as I'm not on pain meds, I should be good to go. I've had no pain meds since surgery, none given at all once I was in the room.
  19. Mine took less than 1 hour...released the following day...absolutely no pain..walked the entire floor within 3 hrs....this was 12/16...already down 15lbs!!
