    Protein help

What does your doctor say will happen if you don't get enough Protein? Because mine is like- no biggie. Just get your Water. The point is not to eat. I don't get what the problem with low protein is that is so bad? I get about 20-30 grams a day and am doing great
  2. God I miss chugging water. Sigh. I empathize

How can i get in my protein?

You won't be able to, most likely. I don't know know why everyone on here is so concerned about it! You won't die without it, okay? It's like, your fat will feed you for a long long time. Your okay. It's okay. You don't have to force feed yourself Protein. Per my doctor ( one of the best surgeons in the state) The point of this surgery is NOT to eat. Don't worry about not being able to get in your protein. You will eventually be able to eat more. It's okay to eat very little in the first 6 months to a year. I only eat about 20-40 grams of protein a day and am doing great. My doctor says all is fine!!! So don't worry about it. You'll eat what you can. It takes time.

    Feeling a little down.!

I would start tracking and get rid of the Protein shakes. Liquid calories are a huge no no after the first month!!! You should be getting your protein in through real solid food, per my nut. It's very easy to take in too many calories thorough liquids, the shakes are only for the beginning part of soft food. Your well beyond that now. Your pouch will work best with solids and you need to track everything you eat to make sure your calories and carbs are in check.

4 Week Post-Op: What are you eating?

I'm five weeks and eat eggs (Blahhhhh) fish, tuna, ground beef, shredded chicken, sashimi, milk, cheese, Beans, salsa, small amounts of lettuce and veggies (well chewed), coffe (decaf) yogurt, small amounts of melon, and I did try some quinoa but it made me dump.
  11. Had surgery at 238 and an 5'6. It doesn't matter the number, it's how you wear it and how it's affecting your body. I carry all excess weight in my belly and imaging how being pregnant for life made my back feel!! I love that I don't have a long way to go before I look slim again. I am so glad I did this before things got out of control even more!!
  12. My surgery was performed by doctor David Thoman of advanced surgical associates in Santa Barbara California. I really like Dr Thoman. He is very quiet and doesn't exactly hold your hand but he is very calm, very confident and an incredible surgeon. The process of getting my surgery done with him and his office was very easy and enjoyable. I really like all of his staff. Cottage hospital is also wonderful and I had a great experience there. My pain needs were very high after my surgery and I was well taken care of. Everyone was understanding and reassuring. This doctor has given me my health and energy, my vitality back. He never made me feel a moments doubt about this surgery and from everyone I spoke to, he is the best bariatric surgeon when it comes to surgical skill and knowledge. The other doctors at cottage all rave about his skill in the operating room. Having a great surgeon is a must when it comes to rny. I also like his personality although he is quiet and has a dry sense of humor. I tend to appreciate people like this a lot and so it worked for me. If you must have a lot of pep talks and shoulder rubbing from your doctor best not go with him or you may feel a bit disappointed. I have had no complications and feel great, thank you Dr Thoman!!!

    tail bone pain

Welcome to the club . My hips are feeling it too. I think it's weight distribution changes and less padding. Really having trouble sleeping.
  14. Personally I believe "not eating enough to lose weight" is a load of bull. The less you eat the more you will lose, it's proven fact. And if you work out you'll lose even more. So maybe your NUT disagrees but your not losing fast are you? Long term slow loss is probably better for you but I too understand how hard it is to have gone through this surgery and still be waiting for change. Get your Vitamins and Water and some Protein. Work out and eat low carb, low calories. And your weight loss will pick up. You may hit a stall now and then but your going to see big losses. Eating more to lose weight is a line the diet industry came up with to justify getting people into snacking which ultimately causes weight gain as it increases calories and habitats towards eating.

    meat eaters

Experiment with tofu!!! It's amazing. Buy extra firm and season it to match the taste of almost anything. Also I tried sushimi at one month, yummy and went down great!!!!
  16. Can't tolerate my multi either. Sometimes a take gummie multi, it's better than nothing. They are disgusting make me vomit I'm going to look into another kind when I see my doc.
  17. Had it. Normal. Should end soon though or call doc. I had bliss in my vomit too! Argh. Still alive

    Change of heart?

I regret it some days as I loved to eat, but food was killing me. At a month out I look forward to being able to eat more in time. I had regret the first week. I was not that overweight before surgery but it was getting there. I was getting sicker. Now I'm 30 pounds down and that feels awesome. Food is a big part of life. In the next few weeks focus on not quantity but quality. Focus on single foods at a time. It will get better. I don't think there is any going back and sadly there is no way to explain the feeling of this surgery to someone who hasn't done it.

    Daily rutine

I am a month out and things have pretty much been like this: I wake up and drink Water, I am constantly thirsty. Some days I get in my Multivitamin but others not. I find it unbearable to eat. I take my other Vitamins throughout the day. I am looking forward to being able to swallow my vitamins soooo much. I will usually eat about 4 oz Protein shake in the am, a 1/4 cup Soup in the afternoon, and two bites of egg in the pm. I try and drink water and other Fluid all day long, it's very hard. I have no physical desire for food but mentally I want it just the same. I miss it and feel sad my stomach is so different now. At the same time I like the weight loss and look forward to progressing my diet which still seems impossible. It feels like I have a stomach bug for life. Be ready to give up eating it is so hard some days. I just wanted to add this as I am an example of someone who is having a harder time. I have lost 30 pounds in 4 weeks.

    Constipation Club

Last night at two in the morning had to make an emergency trip to the pharmacy for milk of magnesia. Ugh. Got home and thank goodness I pooped. This is the worst. I don't know what to do because I can't get in enough Water and there is no Fiber in the foods I can tolerate, if I can tolerate anything at all. It's gotten to the point that I just don't want to eat anymore.

    10 days post-op: diet help

I tried some fruit and dumped also from mashed potatoes. Be very careful with carbs. Light yogurt with a little bit of peaches was okay for me. Also decaf coffee was a nice addition for a change in taste. I know your inns hurry to eat eggs but sadly you may be sick of them too in no time. It's hard in the beginning.

    Bad Protein?

Aren't they fried and full of preservatives? You may find you don't care for them much any more. Your tastes may change a lot and you'll crave leaner lighter fare.
  23. Mine was like that too and then suddenly huge difference. Your still bloated

    Mental breakdown

It's funny how much things change too- right now I can't even look at food much less crave anything at all. It totally disgusts me and I can't believe I used to miss it!! hope your doing good.
