  1. Congrats @@cassie32104 looking forward to seeing you on the other side.
  2. @@covarrubia911 I have heard of surgery sisters, I have heard of surgery brothers. We here on this thread are "surgery family" we are the October Surgery Family. I care and worry about each of my brothers and sisters and their success. Why??? Because that is what families do. They support one another.

    Surgery on Monday.

@@Nancy1955 there are 6 of us having surgery Tuesday! I used to live in Mebane, NC.
  7. @@covarrubia911 good luck see you on the other side. Let us know when you get a chance how it went. Wow how many people are doing Inova Fair Oaks? I will try to give a report on how the hospital is as soon as I can after surgery. What they provide and anything I wish I had brought that I didn't. With mine being 6 October I think I am the earliest Inova Fair Oaks patient in October.
  8. I went looking for a broth recipe in the recipe section for ideas after surgery and found this: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/239853-any-good-brothsoup-base-recipes/

  12. @@Anxious2beme Congrats! Good luck and keep us posted.
  13. @kimvox66 I actually prefer the Orange, Cherry, Grape ones but I eat both. Welcome to all. Great to see we are still adding folks. @@avocadoPAK I am having my surgery 6 October as well. Mine will be in Fairfax, VA. I am going on my fourth week of liquid diet. It sounds like yours is different from mine. Good luck. @@CHLOE12 Nothing wrong with having doubts. This is major surgery so you want to be sure. I am comfortable with my decision so far but I started my journey last year so I've had a LOT of time to think about it. I am scared, worried and anxious but not excited like a lot of other people.
  14. A week from today I will have my surgery. After that I plan to eat a lot of low-sodium broth for a change (if Mr. Pouch cooperates). I am looking for your recommendations on brand names (and where I might find them) but also your recipes for homemade low-sodium broths would even be better. What was your experience with broths post surgery? Thanks for your input!

    Liquid Diet..

@@goblue9280 yea I chug mine right away but I add one ice cube before I add the powder. It seems to help make just a little colder. If it is too thick you can always add more liquid. After surgery I wouldn't be surprised if I have trouble with it because then I will have to sip, sip, sip. But being on it for four weeks before and 3 weeks after I bought the chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, banana, and the orange cream so I have at least had a variety.

    Liquid Diet..

@@rmarylee09 I bought mine from my doctor because it was cheaper. I found it on line at the Bariatric Advantage site but you could probably find it on Amazon as well. @@goblue9280 broth sounds so delicious right now. What is it about the shakes that give you trouble? Too thick, to thin, no taste, too much taste?
  17. @@Laughingmyassoff2015 that is an awesome picture. I love it! @@edie091371 chap stick, phone and charger, kindle and charger (hopefully I can update this sight with that from the hospital), good socks and slippers for walking, shorts (so I don't let it all hang out, now THAT would be an ugly moon), sweat pants (for the ride home in case this surgery turns me cold) and a pillow (for both while I am there and the ride home). OK what did I forget? @@60&goin4it thanks. Now I can add earplugs (so I can listen to my tunes as I walk) Hmm I don't have an eye mask may have to get one of those. Also Biotin moisturizing mouth spray. Boy you guys are a mountain of good ideas.

    Liquid Diet..

@@rmarylee09 I have been on a liquid diet for 3 weeks now and I continue this until 6 October when I have my surgery. Mine consists of: 4 Bariatric Advantage Protein Shakes made with Water 2 Bariatric Advantage Protein Bars 1 banana or 1cup skim milk (To keep your potassium up) 3 sugar free Popsicles 3 Sugar Free Jell-o's This equals around 1050 calories. They say the first three days are the toughest. The thing I missed the most is my chewing gum. I used to chew gum all the time. It doesn't bother me as much now.
  19. @@GBLady41 Best of luck to you. Glad to hear you back in the ring and willing to fight for it. A year from now you will look back on this post and see it was but a bump in the road.
