  1. Mine used a 32 French. I have had no problems. I just have to make sure I take small bites. I have never got sick, and I have healed very quickly. My doctor is also very strict on what you can eat for the first 6 months. For the first 3 weeks, Water, Protein and broth only. Three weeks after soft blended (baby food soft) Soup non creamy. 6 weeks after soft protein, fish shrimp, chicken, and some veggie. I'm allowed 2 tbs of fruit a day. Not much I know. But it's protein, protein, protein.

  2. I had a 10 day, Protein Shake and Water only diet. I was ready to beat on someone, and it's worse when you have to cook for your family. But now I'm 14 days post op, just moved to full liquid and it's not so bad. Getting a little tired of Protein Shakes, but I'm not hungry, no cravings, in fact I'm still trying to get all of my water requirements in. I think for about two days after the hospital I was head hungry. All those stupid food adds. But it will get better, just look ahead.

  3. Nice going, Msbritt! On your way!

I've hit my first stall, hoping it doesn't last too long:

    Monday: 253.4

    Tuesday: 252

    Wednesday: 253.4

    Thursday: 253.4

Anyone else having this kind of plateau already? I thought I'd get at least 3 weeks postop before hitting a plateau. :(

I feel pretty good. Incisions are healing nicely, not too sore anymore. I'm having BAD head hunger on the liquid diet, though. Really have to stay busy to not think about it.

I was sleeved the same day as you. I lost 7 lbs on the 2 week liquid diet, after I got home from the hospital, I had gain those 7 lbs back from the surgery and Water weight from the I.V Fluid. I was able to loose that, and 7 more pounds, but stalled last week and have not lost anything for over a week. The plateau really sucks, when I've seen others sleeved the same day as me have lost 20 lbs, but they are not me...we are all different, I have to just remember that. As of today I have list another 1.5 lbs, so I'm hoping my plateau is over. So I understand your feeling about this.

  4. Your EGD is to check you're esophagus and stomach for any problems. It is very quick. They put a camera down your throat. You are asleep when this happens. My throat did not even hurt. In fact I could not tell anything ever happened. Some people do complain about a sore throat. It all depends on your doctor.

  5. I am supposed to have only clear liquids for 3 days before surgery. I am wondering if I am supposed to still use Protein powder over those 3 days. I am supposed to start this diet tomorrow which is Sunday so I can't call my surgeon to ask until Monday.

Jessica, it all depends on your doctor. Mine has me on a 10 liquid diet, where I can only have Protein Drinks like premier, broth, Water. Yours has you on a three day so I don't know. Who is your Doctor?

  6. Well, started my two week liquid diet today, surgery on the 24th!!! For breakfast I had a Premier Protein shake but if anyone has any recipes or links for Low sugar/Carb and High Protein Shakes it would be much appreciated! Also, any advice is appreciated. I am a college student and I know these next two weeks are going to be full of temptation but I KNOW I can do this!!

This is one of my favorite drinks. Premire Protein vanilla, pumpkin spice international delight fat free/sugar free.

  7. I am a patient of Dr. Ludwig. I had a better than awesome experience this past Tuesday getting my vsg. The hospital staff was phenominal. Of course both Dr Simchuk and Dr Ludwig go into every surgery together to assist each other. If you did not have a good experience I'm sorry for that.

So far I have had a great experience. My surgery is on Nov. 25, so I'm just trying to see what the surgery and hospital stay are like. How long was your hospital stay, and surgery?
