I want to thank everyone for their advice and encouragement. I spoke to my husband about that comment today. I told him how shocked I was and how much it hurt. He said that he meant that seeing me in such a fragile state and knowing how much pain I'm still in, he is afraid to hurt me. Other than that comment, he has been wonderful during this process. Maybe I misinterpreted his comments, maybe not. I believe his explanation for now and we'll see. I remain focused on myself and the positive changes that I am making. Than you all!

I'd seriously consider taking a long hard look at my relationship if I were in your shoes. To me, it sounds as if you two could use a long talk and some couples counseling.

What if you had been in a serious car accident that required reconstructive surgery? What if you had appendicitis or a tumor that required surgery? What if you needed a stint or a transplant? Would he find you unattractive for any of those reasons?

My husband loves me fat, thin, with scars, without, hairy legs, overgrown eyebrows, roots showing, gassy, greasy haired, in sweats, with zits.... He's in for the long haul. If something came up cosmetically that he changed his mind, I am fairly certain the change of heart would be more than skin deep.

I'm 2 months out and stalled for 2 weeks! It just broke today and boy was I happy! But, during this time I definitely lost inches and that made me feel much better! I started working out this week (30 mins on treadmill) and I think that helped. I also paid closer attention to hydration as I found myself dehydrated early on. Can only eat very little, but I'm doing several small "meals" a day. A meal meaning a few bites at a time.
Good luck and I'm sure it will pass.

Thanks for all the encouragement. Clothes are definitely loose, and I am wearing some pants I've had packed away for a couple years so.......... I am getting smaller! It just doesn't show up on the scale yet.

When you buy a bathing suit, that not only fits, but looks cute on you. Middle aged cute, but cute. It's a two piece with a swim skirt and a tank top. Oh and first suit in over twenty years

Same thing happened to me a week after surgery. Then I started losing again, then I hit another week long stall. It's frustrating but the weight will come off.

Totally correct! I upped my intake by doing smaller more frequent meals and my stall seems to have broken! I won't speak too soon *knocks on wood* but upping my caloric intake did make a difference.

You are probably are in starvation mode. It sounds more aweful than what it is.
What happens is, the body is seeing that you are not putting enough calories that it is naturally burning during the day. So your body is going like "oh oh, I need to preserve, I don't know when my next meal is coming from". So it stops losing weight in order to conserve.
This is what my surgeon explained when I flipped a lid like you. What he said is, what is most important is to stay hydrated while you are recovering. (This will keep you away from an I.V. at the hospital)
As the days go by and you increase your calories, your body will start waking up and say..."okay, I will be getting food" so it starts burning the fat for energy while you are putting in Protein for muscle. If you don't put in Protein for muscle, your body will disregard the fat and use muscle for energy instead. *You don't want that*.
So just keep on keeping on, and keep drinking your liquids and work on increasing your calories and trying new things every day, eventually the scale will move.
I went through a one week stall during my third week and I was like, HOW IN THE WORLD can I not lose weight if I barely make it to 400 calories a day???!! Well the answer is above, and it worked.

laurenella82 got a reaction from blashlee in Did your shoe size change after weight loss surgery?
I'm about 17 days post op and I already see a difference in my shoe size. Pre op I was in an 11. The one pair of "heels" (they are actually 5.5" wegdes) that was comfortable for me to wear to church are an 11 and they are now flopping off my feet. My 10's are officially back in action....but they are a little looser than I remember too. Some of it could be that I'm no longer retaining Fluid like I used to but I'll take it! It's hard as hell to find cute shoes in an 11!

Thanks Ms. Kathy! I am going to pay extra close attention to my measurements and how my clothes fit. So far, if I only focus in that, I'm extremely happy! Happy to be wearing baggy jeans out tonight....who would have thought lol!

Me too! Had surgery 2/3. Haven't lost a pound since 2/17. Kind of disappointing, but I gather from reading posts on here that it will eventually pass.I am getting a little tired of it though. Hopefully yours (and mine) will break soon!

    you are both early PO
this could be your first of a "few" stalls
especially if it lasts another few more days
    this too shall pass
you know stalls happen to most of us
the time they last will vary from one person to another
"God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It "
even though you are presently not losing weight
    take your measurements
    they could be dropping
don't get discouraged (easier said than done)
good luck to both of you newbies

I ask for a to-go container right off the bat. That helps. As for the bread on the table... I've done pretty well at just ignoring it, so I don't have any advice there. I have dieted a LOT in my life, so I have long since developed the ability to sit through an entire party with a bowl of cheese puffs in front of me without eating a single one. I just cease to see it as food and it doesn't register with me. But that's my own situation, so that doesn't help you at all!
