    Wii Fit

My son in law got one, and while he's not really overweight, more just out of shape, she just emailed and said if I buy him Levis for his birthday, better get a size smaller. Good for him!
  2. KGlapster, you are only two weeks post op? The first month or so is for healing, not for weight loss. Think of the shocks you have put your body through: operation, total change of diet, etc. Give yourself sometime, this is not a race. Patience.

    Hiccups

The hiccups are my "soft" stop signal. In other words, when I get a hiccup, if I don't stop, it will come back up. It sounds like that me be what is happening to you. Don't worry about cleaning your plate. Next time take a bit less.
  4. I don't like Water either, but I take a peeled, sliced cucumber and a sliced lemon and put them in a half gallon of water and put it in the fridge. It has a nice light taste and is very refreshing. I refill the pitcher a couple of times and then put the spent cuke and lemon in the compost and start again. You could do it with oranges or whatever you wanted to.
  5. My doctor set a goal weight and I shrugged. It was in the right direction anyway. For now, I just use it as a general goal post. I can't make a decision until I get close® to it. If your goal is making you want to give up, head for smaller goals, easier to achieve and encouraging.

    I cheated!!!!!

Just remember that being hungry is NOT an emergency and that this is a very short period of time. It's important to follow your doctor's instructions, why else would you consult them?

    I cheated!!!!!

They can tell by looking at your liver during surgery how well you followed the diet. They don't need to ask.
  8. I've seen people recommend this as a stop gap during the liquid diet phase. I think that part of the liquid diet problem is that it is a sensory deprivation. It's not just about food but data input from your nose and mouth. As long as it is temporary, I wouldn't worry too much.

    Metamucil, anyone?

I have half a cup of All Bran with extra Fiber every day in my morning smoothie. It works for me. Also I use two spoons of benefiber in my coffee. But Benefiber is soluble fiber.

Hit "goal" mentally at 4 months -

It's nice to "settle in", isn't it? Although I'm pretty sure I will never be done, that I will always have to have a care about what I eat or don't eat. It's fine by me.:crying:

    Applebee's Spinach & Shrimp Salad

Shrimp can be an issue for me. I can eat it but I have to be so careful that it's just not worth it.

    Exploratory Surgery scar

I had gall bladder surgery done the old school way. I have a scar from between my breasts and it sort of crosses under my breasts and ends up in my side. It was not a problem for me. As long as your previous issue is healed I'm not sure it would be an issue.

    Family member question

My band is in place and working fine and I eat healthy food and correct amounts of it. I do also burp a lot. Not so much the other. Lots of burping. I think it is relatively common with the lap band.

    Band Removed Yesterday

Great that you found a solution and that you are finally feeling better. Speedy recovery.

I Must Have My Band Removed!

I'm sorry you are strugging with this. I hate it when they can't figure out what is wrong. Good luck and hang in there.

I Must Have My Band Removed!

Some people do seem to panic once they have their band placed. Have you consulted your primary care physician? Ask her for a referral to a pulmonary specialist. Do you think it is just a sensation? Have you fainted from lack of oxygen? Are your fingernails blue or pink (under the nails). If you are in distress, you need to find a doctor to help. Go to a specialist.

Have you gone off caffeine? That can cause a horrible headache.

    Does anyone weigh their food

I weigh my food everyday. I have a small digital scale that sits in my breadbox and weighs tare. I can put my bowl on it, hit tare and it just weighs whatever I put in the bowl. I then enter the food into my online food journal at sparkpeople. com. I simply observe what I eat. Once in a while I have a high calorie day, which for me now is maybe 1800 calories. lol It does help to spot habits, tendencies and just plain gluttony creeping in again.

Did anybody NOT tell their family?

I have told practically everyone I know. I have received nothing but positive support. However, I am the sort of person who doesn't really get too wound up over what other people think.
  20. I don't have any issues either, but you might learn to like your water, if you drink it more slowly. I, too, have chosen to be less restricted.

    can't get motivated.

Excellent post, Penny. I, too, am 56. What works for one might not work for another, but every idea is a chance someone might grab it for their own! Keep on, keepin' on. :wink2:

    First fill

I had three ccs put in a ten cc lap band. I've had restriction from day one, although mild restriction and I like it that way.

    Kink in my tubing :(

Excellent that it can wait for your insurance to kick in, Fanny. I'm sorry you had to have this, but you have shown a lot of strength in following through and dealing with the various medicos. Keep on truckin'.

    Can't Eat!!!

Good to hear you are feeling better, Stacy. Hang in there.

    can't get motivated.

My son, who works in the health care field, says he sometimes has to talk people into just going to the gym every day. He said sometimes they just go there, change into work out clothes and leave. After a while the habit of going is established. Then he talks them into doing the treadmill for five minutes a day . . . etc. Habit, sometimes they save you and some times they'll kill you.
