    Fill Comparison Survey

I'm a little curious. How exactly do you define really really good restriction?
  2. One of the reasons they are careful is because being too tight can contribute to slippage, and perhaps loss of the band. It's worth taking the time and doing it carefully.
  3. More than buying any dress or doing anything that has to do with fashion, I have been happy to reclaim that part of my mind that was occupied with food and feeding. The rest is only gravy.

Doc doesn't want to do a fill.....

You are following the band rules and eating band amounts of food. The band being tighter will not make you lose more weight, if you are eating the right amount. I was eating 1200 a day and my loss had slowed. I lowered it to 1000 and have lost three pounds in a week. Then again, I see the band as a maintenance tool and as a back up. I depend on myself to restrict my intake and do not want to be very tight. Good luck.

    Fiber & Bowel Movements...

I would rather eat the fiber. I have a half cup of all bran with extra fiber every morning in my morning smoothie. Everyday I have more fresh fruits and veggies than meat.
  6. One of the first things you might want to do is to check with your doc and see if the meds come in liquid form. Then it won't matter much, just drink it with milk. Otherwise, I'm not sure if you are that tight how to get the pills down, if you have a lot of them. Crush them and eat in applesauce, if they are crushable.

    Why...

I think it was as much to have a place for women cause men have one, and a place to post about menstruation and tampons etc. and the men could avoid if they wanted to. It's no big deal.

    Want to change the "focus"

Way to go, BrandyII. I think you have made a huge step. I can recommend the book by Rick Fields - "Chop Wood, Carry Water." Perhaps your library has it. Hang in there and keep up up to speed on your progress (physical and emotional).

    June 5 I will be de-banded

Well done, Ravenlunatic. You did what everyone should do, research, talk to the doc and make a choice. Congratulations on your success. :tongue2:

    It's coming out:

Winterwish, is your only issue with the port? Good luck to you, and a speedy return to health.

    Cool :)

Not only do I not miss the TOM, I won't miss having large breasts either. I'd go to a b in an instant.
  13. Winter Wish, I am so sorry that this happened to you. I can't imagine what it must be like to pay for the band and then have it not work. Hang in there. I hope you are healthy again, soon.

    Starbucks..what do you order??

I don't usually do Starbucks, but the other day I got an iced coffee (black coffee on ice) and it was $2.79. Robbery. By the way, Jachut, I agree on both the gum chewing and the slurping from a huge paper cup.

    Cereal and Milk???

Well try it and see. If you become hungry very soon after then you know it doesn't work. Your best bet is probably something a little more substantial in the cereal department. Cooked whole grain cereal, perhaps.

    Ok I Have Two Questions

Being so tight you cannot eat without vomiting does not sound healthy. Having your teeth fall apart/out could be a sign of nutritional deficiencies. I hope you can find a path to health. Starvation is not healthy.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I think restriction, and the sweet spot, is different for everyone. I don't mind relying on my will power to do the portion control and use the band as a second line of defense. I definately see it as a long term maintenance tool as well. I'm losing slowly and that's fine with me.

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Jiminy Christmas! According to the tread mill at the gym I walk for an hour in my target heart rate and burn 150 calories. Kinda makes me look at those hundred calorie packs a little different.

I Must Have My Band Removed!

Good luck and I hope you find good health as quickly as possible.

    Unpleasant Question

My best advice is that you should call your doctor.

I Must Have My Band Removed!

Thanks, MsJai. Are you going to have the band removed or have you had it removed. I'm sure it's very frightening to feel short of breath.

    Exercise DVD'S

Besides the cardio workouts at the gym, I've started to do T'ai Chi. I love it.
  23. Since the band IS a tool, it is used in different ways. I do not want to get too tight. I can eat about a cup and a half of food, maybe even two cups. I just make sure it is good, healthy food. Lots of fresh fruit and veggies. My band for me is something that will keep me from going way over the border, but as far as day to day operation, I decide how much to eat. Not my band. I like the control.
  24. Of course if you accidentally swallow it, it won't matter if you have no restriction. Once you are restricted, you might experience something different. I regular mints all the time. Life saver wintergreen. Especially at the gym.

Anyone needed no or few fills?

I had three ccs put in at surgery and have had no hunger and I do have plenty of restriction. This thread just points out how individual banding experiences are.
