  1. If you scroll down to the very bottom of the page you will see a list of threads about this topic. I told everyone, and received only positive feedback.
  2. I think it's pretty near impossible to say that any volume of food is right. .5 cup of ice cream vs. 1 cup of veggies? It just doesn't make any sense to me. I think it's important to eat a healthy, balanced diet and to creat that habit just in case the band is not forever.

    Explain to me how....

I had three ccs put in a 10 cc band at surgery. I haven't felt hunger yet. I was banded on March 5, 2008. I weigh and measure and keep track of my food. I am losing well enough and enjoy cooking and eating my meals. I am uncomfortable if I eat too much. I eat between 1000 and 1200 calories a day.

Ever feel its not worth it?

Recognizing the misstep and admitting the error is a huge step, Bandguy. Best of luck.

    calorie intake

I try to get in about 1200 a day, but I usuallly drop to 1000. I've found myself lately losing much more quickly by getting in at least 1200. Look up your BMR on the net. If you can reduce that by 500 daily you would loose a pound a week, or achieve a reduction of 3500 calories. Reduce it by a 1000 a day, with diet and exercise, and two pounds a week. It's pretty simple math.
  7. Why do you feel you are eating too much if you are losing weight? The point is to lose weight, not to eat the tiniest amount possible. Is there some magic amount you want to eat? I eat between 1.5 and 2 cups of food (mostly veggies) at a meal and I'm losing 2 pounds a week. By the way the doctor has to tell you your medical information. There was a huge law suit over just this thing and the courts held that records are the patient's property. Just be more firm with him. Insist.

    A better chewable vitamin?

You only need chewable or liquid vitamins if you can't take the pills whole.

    I Never loose 2lbs a week!!

It would be sweet to say that all we had to do to lose weight is to get a band on. I think you need to rethink your food choices and to learn to eat in a more healthy way. If you have children, now is the time to set a great example as far as food goes.

What happens when the band is full?

Those commercials will not cause you to succumb. YOU will cause you to succumb. If the commercials are hard for you, then turn off the tv and read or sew or whatever . . . It's up to you.

    Really? Carrots?

I eat fresh veggies with hummus for lunch often. Just never celery or carrots. Cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, etc.

I feel like a TOTAL FAILURE!!!

Sliming can be caused by taking too big of bites and/or not chewing enough. It isn't just caused by being too tight. Get a preg test. Go see your doc. You don't need manners from her, you need medical advice. Ask if she has a counselor or a nutritionist. It's up to you.
  13. I think that this thread shows people need to deal with their issues with food. Just getting a band and "eating like "normal" people do only tiny amounts" isn't necessarily the answer for everyone. Work on your issues. It's only food, for crying out loud. Being hungry or not eating is NOT an emergency.

Ever feel its not worth it?

Bandguy, go back and see your doctor, you will not be the first of his patients to gain weight. A fill might help you get back on track. To get back to the thread topic. Yes it was worth it, but somehow I missed the drama queen phase so many seem to go through. I didn't have much pain at all. Day three I was exercising. You'll do fine, but you must be committed to the process.

I Must Have My Band Removed!

Debbygburg, I hope you are feeling better soon. Have you considered some counseling to help deal with any food issues you might have. I think this might help whether you keep your band or not. Best of luck to you. I completely agree with MsJai. You must do what is right for you.

    Want to change the "focus"

I always thought it was an interesting paradox: the fatter you get, the harder it is for people to see you. I think that this includes yourself. It helps to not attach any moral values to weight/size. It's simply a descriptive word, like tall, short, blonde, etc.

    Am I Alone?????

I have thought about this thread. Fat people don't like others judging them because of their size. Hmmm . . . Live long and prosper.

    Liquid Vitamins...???

    P.C.O.S and Metformin (glucophage)

You have to be off metformin to have surgery, as far as I understand it.

    P.C.O.S and Metformin (glucophage)

Well yeah. Metformin is used most commonly for diabetics to help control their blood glucose levels. lol

Guidance on Diet for Normal Life

I think you are right, Jachut. There seem to be many ways to use the band "as a tool". I don't mind being on a diet, I never have. I like the control and the decision making on a daily basis. Others like to use it for portion control. Whatever works for you, is my motto. To answer the op. I can eat chips, but I never do cause I would eat the whole bag. I can't eat Pasta and rice. cheese, melted or otherwise is fine. I love garlic bread but I have to nibble at it, otherwise it sticks. I don't go to fast food restaurants.

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

We ended up quite liking the PB2 powder in chicken satay and all kinds of peanut sauces and in chocolate sugar free pudding.
  25. The best benefit of having the lap band, for me, is that I never feel hunger. Not once in three months.
