What was your last good meal?

That is so true, GraceUtah. My notion of food and what it's for has really changed. I still like food and I love to cook. Last night for dinner we have skinless, boneless chicken thighs baked in orange sauce and broccoli. My "last meal" lasted about two weeks. It's embarressing to even think about, let alone type about.:cool2:

    3 wheel adult bicycles

I'm getting a trykke or trike, however it is spelled. I'm 56 and I probably will look silly, but who the hell cares?

    Soda

Fruit juices are high in sugars and not much bang for your buck. Water is much better for you to drink. Eat the whole fruit if you want fruit. The fiber is good for you.

I had three ccs put in on the day of surgery and I have always had restriction. My band is 10 ccs.

Help me please! AGB vs RNY

Best of luck, Nicole. Live long and prosper.
  6. I was intubated, but it had been removed when I awoke. I think that is a precautionary statement.
  7. I only regret allowing my appetites to endanger my life with morbid obesity. I do not regret getting the band.
  8. I never lost my hair and I used Slim Fast low carb drinks.

    Leading a life of slime......

For me it's not. It very thick slobber ( I call it) that just comes up. For me it is not painful, perhaps because it occurs if I eat too much. I just burp it up. It's not vomiting. It actually has nothing to do with vomiting.

    Venting..............

I think you are right, it's not for everybody, but it is for some bodies. ) I did think to ask my surgeon if he would remove it if I wanted it taken away and he said "Of course.". I wish you all an easy and speedy recovery.
  11. I said this on another thread. I like to treat myself like a willful 2 year old. A sense of entitlement - it goes like this: "I DESERVE this." Hahahaha. I don't think I'm addicted to food at all. I think I'm addicted to getting my way, and that somewhere "my way" turned into eating non-stop. That has changed. I worry a bit about people who believe they are addicted and helpless in the face of food. .
  12. My doctor and insurance required neither.
  13. If you think back to your emotional eating, you might see (as I did years ago) that you have eaten (maybe a lot) and not even tasted it. I remember eating two grilled cheese sandwiches while reading a book and suddenly realizing all my food was gone :huh2:( ). I'm not addicted to food, but I am addicted to giving myself whatever I want, when I want it. In other words, I'm treating myself like a willful 2 year old, sometimes. I've used the little phrase "I deserve it, dammit." so many times, I'm sure it's engraved on my tongue. Yes, I deserved to be taken care of, I was just doing it the wrong way. One of the reasons is that I did sometimes feel like I was adrift, even though I have been successful generally in life and in my career. The other day I was standing in front of the fridge wanting some food, but not being hungry and my partner walked by and asked if I needed help cause I looked lost. My reply was: "I'm just a stranger in a strange land." I'm not sure that food addiction is a physical addiction. I DO know that it is much more comfortable to keep the habit, addiction, or whatever, than it is to get rid of it. It is not an emergency to be hungry and you will survive the wanting. What you might not survive is feeding the habit.

Unusual question - not sure where it goes

My doctor said no more than 10 pounds for six weeks.
  16. Pre-band I would have defined full as "can stuff in another bite even if I shove it with both hands, Thanksgiving day full". Now I define full as having eaten. If I get too full I feel very uncomfortable. I always know what I'm going to eat and how much of it. I fix a plate of food (a small plate) and take it to the table. When the food is gone, I am done whether or not I think I still want to eat. Almost always after twenty minutes or so I am satisfied. I don't actually feel real hunger since I had a lap band put in.
  17. I liked curves too. The workout definately varies with each person. I go to LA fitness. I vastly preferred Gold's Gym, but there are none near me. The LA fitness is ok. I loved deep Water aerobics. I used to do that an hour a day. Not available in Houston, that I can find. I don't want the walking in water thing. I want the deep water aerobics. :smile2:

I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!

Brittly, just give it time. It is reversible, however, you are still in recovering from surgery and have implemented a change in your life. Give it some time. Rest assured that you are not different from everyone else, nor are you a different person. You are just recovering. Give it some time. If you can't live with it, you can have it removed. You might also consider some counseling if you think that your identity is so intertwined with food and eating that you cannot seperate the two. Good luck. Keep on truckin'.

    Measuring Your Food

Jennifer if you go to Sparkpeople.com and sign up, (it's free), you can enter food and it will tell you the calories in each component. If you don't want to do that here is the link to subway's nutritional information. Click on the link to go the info. Official SUBWAY Restaurants' Nutrition Information I don't worry too much about amount I eat. I just make sure my calories are at 1200. I have to be a little careful about it because I'm a diabetic.

    Measuring Your Food

It's before chewing. The half cup measure is volume. I use a digital scale because I can't measure a sandwich in volume. I measure each component. The digital scale is very small and sits in the bread box in the kitchen.

    way to much protein

Your body can only utilize so much Protein at a time. If you take in more than about 30 gms at a time, it's a waste. It also seems to be important to eat whole soy Proteins, not just the isoflavones. Do the research on the net. Some of it is conflicting, but it is important to make an informed decision.
  22. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

    Are most having chewable vitamins

I take centrum adult chewable or liquid adult multi vitamins, whichever is cheaper.
  24. I had a three cc fill in a ten cc band when I had surgery. It has worked well. I was banded on March 5 and haven't needed a fill. I am restricted as much as I want to be and am eating fine. I don't really have any pain from my band, but I do have to use care about my port. I can't sleep on my stomach.
