Sliced apples already in a package for single serving with almond butter. (Amazon sells Barney's Butter in single serve packages. A little expensive to eat everyday but very portable.) Beef Jerky (I like Krave brand which is very tender). 1 ounce portions of nuts. (You can buy these individual servings or just break them out in sandwich baggies yourself.) Mr cheese O's are AMAZING if you like cheese crackers. (I found mine at Target but Amazon carries them also.) Individual serving packs of tuna (the Hickory Smoked flavor and Lemon Pepper flavors are great.) If you can refrigerate, definitely string cheese or Cracker Barrel 2% cheese sticks or Greek Yogurt (boosted with a half scoop of Protein powder) or sugar free pudding snack (boosted with a half scoop of Protein powder).

I've been trying to think of non refrigerated snack foods. I know almonds, PB, Jerky, and of course there is always Protein Bars.

I love low fat string cheese, salami, and lunch meats. Gallo's reduced fat salami is tasty. For a change up, roll a slice of lunch eat around the string cheese.

I completely understand your post and what I would add is that it seems like it is an ongoing balancing act, adjustment. I relied so heavily on intense exercise for awhile, and then when I couldn't do that anymore - had to readjust. My capacity for food is much higher than it used to be - so need to adjust for that too. anyway, we all have our own stories, own experineces but maybe the unexpected is that our own story changes quite a bit over time too!
This is why there is no one size fits all answer - especially to maintenance challenges.
I have known for quite awhile that excessive carbs make me hungry. Not everyone has that experience and we all need to listen to our bodies, listen to others ideas and then figure out what applies to ourselves... right now... not yesterday or tomorrow, but what is needed now.
I have a friend who eats sandwiches all the time, she is about 40# overweight and on an annual bases loses that weight via starvation diet, then regains it. she blames it on no willpower, junk food etc - well... maybe... but eating bread 3 meals a day (when not on starvation diet) might be part of the hunger trigger!

The day/night before is the most exciting. Yes get some rest if you can. Also grab a few necessities like gax x strips and chap stick, pack them in your bag. Remember that walking eases your discomfort of gas.. the pain will go away(get the pain meds early, it helps)

I don't think juicing would be all that useful one week-post op, since you should only be thinking "protein, Protein, protein" right now.

I am sure lots of the weight was due to my menstrual cycle-yeah during the surgery, i had to deal with this!! But I am following my doctor's orders which required a one day pre op and one week post op liquid diet. I'm just transitioning into full liquids today. I am seeing how long 4oz of yogurt can actually take! And yes I'm walking at least 30 mins a day, be it my dog or the mall or supermarket.
    How are you feeling/doing?

Great! I was on 1,000 calorie diet two weeks before surgery and I had my surgery with an open cut so I was I the hospital from Tuesday til Saturday afternoon. I'm moving around a lot better now. In the hospital I walked around the floor they want u movin. Now I can take a small walk everyday bcuz I'm moving faster. Just being careful of my incision which a nurse came out to check on me and I'm healing phenomenally. I'm so grateful to God bcuz I can honestly say I didn't have a lot of pain. And I know people who had more pain and their surgery was laproscopic. I'm excited about the journey. I haven't weighed myself bcuz I'm getting a scale this weekend. But my other half says he sees I lost already. You keep up the good work and stay encouraged.

@PartofMyCharm.... I feel exactly the same. While I am excited about this next chapter and proud of what I am doing to be healthier and feel better, I am having some adjustment issues. I was totally mentally prepared and knew exactly what having the surgery meant and was going to mean in my life. But I have still had a little depression since the surgery that I did not expect. But I am down 20 pounds overall and just keep hanging in there knowing it will just keep getting better and better. But like you said, it's kind of hard to explain. I hear you.

No you are not alone. Like you I'm very excited and happy to start this new journey, but reality is also settling in that my life will no longer be as it was. I'm very happy about that. From living a more healthier lifestyle, relationships, sigifacant weight loss, and the mental portion of this, we have a lot to adapt to. I'm in the hospital, I'll be discharges in the morning. I've had to refuse some visitation and ignore calls because I'm not ready to answer questions and be ridiculed for my decision.

You look great! Keep up the good work! I'm feeling the same way-very optimistic. Had my one week follow up and discovered I lost 17 lbs (!!!) I was not expecting that. I know this won't happen again, but I am happy. Doctor said he was happy with my progress, not just physically but mentally and emotionally too. So job well done to you as well!!

I was sleeved also on September 30th and I feel good! My surgery was open so my recovery time is a little different. I have not had much pain and I walk as much as I can. My doctors said I was a champion and did very well with an open cut. I'm excited for the journey. I wish everybody so much success.

22 pounds in one month??? that sounds amazing to me! don't forget when you read posts about people losing much more than that: make sure you look at their starting weight, because the more you weigh the more you lose, but it's all proportional percentage-wise. please try not to compare yourself with anyone else, as we're all different. would you be disappointed if you read the latest best seller in 2 weeks and your friend read it in 1 week? the outcome will be the same. relax and enjoy the journey!
