Darla Bramel Cochran got a reaction from NewJeffrey in 3 days post op and it still doesn't feel real...
I had surgery on Oct 22. I too went through fairly quick and I remember that feeling of "what the heck did I just do". Coming up on 6 weeks, I've come to terms with it all. I'm down 42 pounds and am starting to get my energy back. I really am excited about my new life. It's been sort of a rebirth for me. I know what you mean about sleeping. My bed is extremely high and I cried the first night I tried to get in it and find a comfortable position. I finally resorted to sleeping i our recliner for the first 2 weeks post-op. I sleep on my stomach now. No problems.
Please drop me a note if I can help in anyway. I'm not a pro by any means, but I'm a few steps ahead of you. I can at least remember what it feels like.

I am about the same days post op. Here is what I do
Protein: I don't use the shake. I use Isopure liquid zero carb. each bottle contains 40gms of Protein. I divide between 1/3 to 1/2 in to the 750ml camelback sipping bottle. I fill the rest of the bottle with ice and Water and a touch of steiva. I then sip on the mixture fo 2 to 3 hours. I make about 3 of those mixtures which gets my protein. My favorite is grape and orange and coconut.
Vitamin: I use the all-in-one powder Vitamin. I mix it in 1/2 cup Water . and sipp in the morning and at noon. http://smile.amazon.com/All-One-Multiple-Vitamins-2-2-Pound/dp/B000GAP9FK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412093986&sr=8-1&keywords=all+in+one+vitamine

What I've found (by trial and error) that works for me is to literally put my fork down after a single bite and wait. I can tell by a bite if what I just ate will sit well with me. (I'm nearly 6 weeks out) If nothing happens, in goes bite two. If not, I get that sharp knife-like pain right at the base of my breastbone. Scared the daylights out of me the first time it happened, but fortunately, it goes away relatively quickly, as does the plate of food.

Gosh I think most of us have experienced that horrible chest pain of over eating. Most of us are very aware of how we are eating from that point on. Well except me and I am a slow learner had to be miserable a couple times before I made the connection lol

Post op day 12 and last night I "ate" a bit too much. Oh the freaking pain. I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. Today I am so scared to eat anything. I'll be sipping today. I never want to feel like that ever again.

My surgery Ctr support group told me to count my blessings the weight is coming off slow and steady. Because with exercise and slow and steady weight loss, skin issues will be minimal. Yahoo!!

You are not alone. I just got word that I would have surgery 10/22. I was fine until they set the surgery and now I'm freaking out. You're right about all the stories. I almost wish I hadn't read any of them so I could just experience what I truly am feeling rather than thinking about what someone else felt. Good luck to you. It'll all work out just fine.

I had RNY in June. I'm feeling fantastic. Never had any vomiting, nausea, never took pain meds. I was readmitted to the hospital 2 days after getting out and stayed for another 3 days with pneumonia but even with that, I didn't feel too cruddy.
The first month was strange... didn't feel bad or anything but staying on liquids and puree'd kind of sucks. It felt good to actually get to start chewing something. I eat everything I want (I just don't try things that aren't within the food plan). I don't do carbs except from fruits/veggies. I still drink a shake in the morning for Breakfast because I don't like to cook, I don't like the smell of hot food in the morning, the shake tastes good (muscle milk 100 chocolate) and I'm usually driving to work. Win, win.
I eat tiny little amounts of everything. Love chicken on a stick from Chinese restaurant -- one stick is all I can eat. I can eat about half of the chicken breast from a Wendy's grilled chicken sandwich (don't touch the bun). I seldom experience any hunger unless I go from like lunch time to past my normal dinner time without eating. Then, it's not like a ravenous hungry or shakiness just a little feeling in the tummy that it's time to eat again. Small bananas, clementine oranges, small apple, and a handful of almonds -- those are my standard Snacks.
I'm down 55 pounds in a little over 3 months -- only 15 from my conservative goal. I'm exercising like the Energizer Bunny... run/walking a 5k tomorrow morning (and I wasn't run/walking anywhere before surgery). I was a relative lightweight (BMI=36) and today it's 26. And I went from a size 16 to a size 6 jeans... I only bought 2 pairs because I'm still losing. Went from 16 to 14 to 10 to 6... skipping sizes. I'm amazed because lightweights usually lose a little slower than people with more to lose.
This has been a wonderful experience for me. It's normal to feel apprehensive -- if you didn't it would mean you weren't taking the surgery seriously. There is always a risk for complications and you'll see people on the boards here who have had them. Most will say they would do it again. But, if you think about it, people with complications are more likely to come here for support and help. People who are successful go on with their lives and may not be on the boards as much.
Anyway -- here's a story from someone who has been wildly successful and wouldn't change a thing! Best decision I ever made.

Autumn thanks for being so candid. These photos do not deter me. Like you, I know after the sleeve surgery life will be so much better. Saggy skin is Very small price to pay to be healthy.
By the way, good job on the weight loss. Wishing you continued success
