About Me

  • Biography
I'm pretty laid back. I'm passionate about education. My husband of 24 years and I have a beautiful daughter who is 17. I'm very social and like to be around lots of people. But I can also enjoy snuggling on the couch and watching movies.

How fast do you drink your liquids?

I think everyone is different. I can gulp, but it makes my stomach hurt a bit afterwards. I think I was told that gulping causes air bubbles in the new pouch just like a straw would. I try not to do this, although when I'm really thirsty I have to really watch myself. Cold Water or drink really makes my stomach hurt as well. I'm six weeks post op.

    Tailbone problems anyone?

I notice this while sitting in the bathtub. That is the only place. Ouch is right! Best wishes!

I'm 6 weeks out. How many of you gastric bypass people dump?

I'm 6 weeks post-op and I never have dumped. I really try to behave myself. There have been two times that I've eaten something that I probably should not have and I frothed a bit and then vomited a small amount, but never dumping. Darla
  5. I had surgery on Oct 22. I too went through fairly quick and I remember that feeling of "what the heck did I just do". Coming up on 6 weeks, I've come to terms with it all. I'm down 42 pounds and am starting to get my energy back. I really am excited about my new life. It's been sort of a rebirth for me. I know what you mean about sleeping. My bed is extremely high and I cried the first night I tried to get in it and find a comfortable position. I finally resorted to sleeping i our recliner for the first 2 weeks post-op. I sleep on my stomach now. No problems. Please drop me a note if I can help in anyway. I'm not a pro by any means, but I'm a few steps ahead of you. I can at least remember what it feels like.

    Scared to death....

You are not alone. I just got word that I would have surgery 10/22. I was fine until they set the surgery and now I'm freaking out. You're right about all the stories. I almost wish I hadn't read any of them so I could just experience what I truly am feeling rather than thinking about what someone else felt. Good luck to you. It'll all work out just fine.

    October Buddies wanted

I will be having surgery in Mid-October. I would love to have a buddy - I'm starting to get nervous, but I'm ready to get moving forward.
