    Psych appointment help

I have my psych eval the least Wednesday of this month thank you for asking this question I am concerned too...for those of you who have taken it....I am someone who has depression and anxiety and unfortunately one suicide attempt...I am managing all of these issues through medication and counseling will these things hinder my ability to pass the eval? From anyone's experience? I feel like one catalyst. ( not all but one) to my mental health issues is my weight and would hate to fail based on these things when I'm working towards one other way to alleviate them by loosing weight. Thanks for any input!

  6. I meant "stage not states" lol @@Algae
  7. @@Algae I feel the same way...I know what a great tool this can be and that it works if you use it right I just want to take this six months to get to a point where I trust myself to use it right. Failure is a big fear, but I feel the resources at st. Vincent in the program I'm in are going to help me not fail! It's nice to here from someone who is in the same states I am...I wish you luck and congratulations in your decision and I'm sure you'll see my "stalker" posts all over here in the months to come! Haha
  8. What finally made me decide was when I went with my family to a fireworks show this Fourth of July on the ohio river...when walking back to your car it is all uphill. By the time we got 1/3 of the way back I was dripping sweat and my lower back was killing me. I am 25 years old and felt 80. My family with me were mostly over 40 and I felt like compared to me they were practically running up the hill. I was almost in tears by the time we got back to the car because I was in so much pain and out of breath. The whole ride back with my family all I could think was this 300+ pounds is going to kill me it stops now. From that point I began researching what help was covered under my insurance whether surgical or non surgical and stumbled upon the hidden section of bariatric resources.....made my decision last month and am starting my journey to save my life.

    Aetna- weight gain?

Haha...That works lol. Well I wish you luck with getting approved....I am in my first month of my supervised diet so I've got a ways to go....anxious and wanting it to be march/April...bit I know it will be here before I know it!

    Aetna- weight gain?

Right! I've been havering yoplait light yogurt...not my fav and doesn't satisfy the fact that I'm wanting carbs and grease....BUT it does satisfy my need to feel like I'm eating. I've also started come on here and watching YouTube and walking my dogs when I feel like that...I think for me ...I don't know if you feel the same but a lot of it is boredom ...I eat to have something to do (of course I crave too) but it's comforting, tasty, and gives me an activity

    Young Gastric Bypass Patients

Hey all...I am 25 and have started the process for my gastric bypass I am in my first month of the 6 month supervised diet for insurance approval....I'm glad I found this group. One reason is because most of the people I even hang out with my age don't understand why I would do this surgery and why I can't just diet like they all do, also most of them are normal weight so they don't understand even where I'm at being a morbidly obese 20 something.....it's a whole different ball game trying to live a normal young life when you are uncomfortable in your skin. Anyone else like just starting would like to have a buddy that is on the same time frame for surgery...I am supporting everyone in this community on their journey and welcome any advice and lend a listening ear....or I guess lend a read screen haha!
  14. I also have uhc and u posting this put that question in my mind as well....I am starting my diet this month so I'm at the other end as u...congrats on being done! I literally just left a message for my nurse advocate I was assigned after I read your post to answer that question. She is out until next week, but if I hear back I will def. post here...if u find out anything before then I am very interested in how everything works out for you!

    Insurance

Maybe this question fits here....I have united health choice plan and have to do the six month supervised diet...I've been reading some posts that people have been denied or had to start over if they gained...anyone have any input with this insurance company or any company about gaining during this time?
  16. I have started my journey recently as well I made my final decision last month and have started all the necessary appointments. My surgeon is Dr. Brenda Cacucci with St. Vincent Bariatric Center of Excellence in Carmel, Indiana. I too have never had any surgeries only one stay in the hospital and am kind of nervous about the actual surgery part. From what I am reading though through this wonderful community is helping me ease some of that. I am starting my 6 month supervised diet this month and hope time goes quickly with that I have planned little things to look forward to so that I dint obsess every day about how many days until that 6 month mark or watch every YouTube video about surgery until my head explodes lol. I do find great support in these forums though even if I don't have one specific connection it's nice to know you are not the only one in this position since most of the people in our every day lives don't know what we are going through! Just my little story to join this convo!

    Pre-op 6 month diet plan

Gee vann and time4changeny congrats on ur surgery dates! I figured the six months would be a good thing to have to go through given all the things I need to get done...and 25 years of being overweight what's another six months lol! Thanks for the feedback though from people who just finished this process!

    Pre-op 6 month diet plan

I spoke to my nurse advocate I was assigned by my insurance (I have united healthcare) about this diet that I am starting soon. I asked her if I would be denied if I lost weight or did not loose weight and she told me that they just want to make sure that I am able to follow a regimen and doctors orders before they pay. So, possibly the same purpose for your insurance.
  19. Hi, I am completely new to this but I have made the decision to get the gastric sleeve. My insurance requires I do a six month diet followed by my physician so I am starting apps with her next week. I have my first appt with the bariatric center in October. I feel like this sex months is going to take forever! Just wanted to find somewhere with some support in the wait and a place where I can have questions answered by people in the same boat!
