  1. The whole idea of staying 2 nights is to make sure you can walk drink etc properly without passing out or throwing up every time . The past 2 years I've been in hospital 6 times under for eye operations. They wouldn't even take that nasty IV out till I could eat and drink and able to move around.
  2. It's don't eat or drink 6 hours before op. I was told if you take meds if it's ok small sips are ok. But if yours is 2:30pm just don't drink anything after 7am. That's what I was told its way to unhealthy to not drink longer than that.
  3. That's ok everyone always feels better knowing they can have someone to talk their problems too. I tend to bug ppl a lot like ringing my friends a lot even if it's not about health related etc just a good chat and laugh can do wonders.
  4. Gonna be a Saturday operation hopefully not to busy or noisy. I have my trusty iPad and iPhone all set up with new songs tempted to download a pile of movies to watch tho lol
  5. Hiya I'm from Perth Australia booked for gastric bypass RNY on 25th October. I'm 31 6 ft 2 height and weigh 161kg.
  6. Hiya all, been to see my surgeon filled all the paper worked and all paid and booked for the 25th October. I'm 31 weighting 161 kg Was told I'll only have 2 days liquid diet pre op. Which is pretty good I've been on optifast past 4 weeks so far for 2 times a day getting tired of drinking those lol . So good luck to everyone.
  7. I was told a suggestion instead of potatoes try mashed cauliflower with some garlic and chives. I'm gonna try it out tomorrow with a bit of meat. Just as test before my op on the 25th October.
  8. Yours is 5 days before me. I was told my surgeon doesn't do liquid diet till 2 days pre op. However I've been drinking 2 Optifast a day with a dinner of meat and salad and for a snack a can of tuna and salad. That has helped a lot I haven't been as hungry as I normally am ???? So good luck and keep us updated.
  9. I'm going for a rny bypass but whoever I have told said go for it. Maybe a lot of Australian know more about these operation not sure. The only person who I'm not sure on is my uncle but he's a health freak. That said 6kgs over his average is overweight. All he really has to do is stop drinking beer to be on a diet so I'm not rly bothered.
  10. In restaurants just talk to the manager and ask to purée a meal for you. I was told a story a friend of my mums had the sleeve done and went on a cruise a week later. He just always ordered milk etc or got the kitchen staff to purée something for him.
  11. RNY for October 25th might change depending if I can get all the tests done and apps with diabetics specialist and dietitian.
  12. That looks tasty bummer I can't eat pawns allergic to any shell fish ~_~
  13. Yeah. Well hoping the date doesn't change and everything goes smoothly for tests and my diabetics specialist.
  14. I'm told my op will be October 25 but setting everything up then gets confirmed next week. I'm type 1 diabetic living in Perth WA if anyone wants to chat.
  15. Well I got the date set for 25th October.
  16. Already had those done. Did blood test last week EKG before I had to get laser eye treatment for my eyes at royal Perth hospital it was a older test might have to redo but my weight from then and now is only around 2kg diff so I'll see. Need to see diabetics specialist as well. Was told he only does a 2 day liquid diet tho and post op was told I'm not allowed to drink Optifast. Interested how my overall blood sugars are ATM my diabetics haven't been very well controlled for years. And lately been around 4-8 they call it differently everywhere else lol. But the norm is 5-8 around but on occasion it's gone to 13.
  17. Just waiting on to see what date my op is my guess would be near end of October. And to do any needed tests.
  18. Did the surgeon suggest a dietitian etc my surgeon told me to see one straight off. Just to be the safe side but some diabetics react differently.
  19. How are you with tuna try a 100g or close can they give 20+ g of protein and if the flavour is bad or need it softer don't remove the water n add a lil fat free Mayo. My Nut said I need 20g more for myself so I have a small can. Be sure to only get the tuna in spring water the others have way too much salt.
  20. Sometimes it can be caused by pinched nerves I know one reason is diabetics for me also pinched a nerve between my rips and hip. If I lost weight it can help lessen. Just by dieting ATM my feet have been feeling so much better besides at night time ???? I'll also suggest have you ever tried laser acupuncture I did for a few weeks first time I had no numbness or pain for weeks.
  21. What about just walking on steps. I'm gonna have the op in around 5 weeks and im horrible with blight sun have had 5+ eye operations so everyday few times a day I use a step I have in the lounge room or a rowing machine to get exercise.
  22. I have numbness and burning pain in my feet due to type 1 diabetes. I have been told it will get better if I loose weight and fix my posture. So far with this diet I can move my toes a lot better so I'm hoping if I loose most of my excess weight it will get better.
  23. Diet coke lol just as bad ???? or diet cordial
  24. Blood sugars even can go low for non diabetics you just overdid youself. And a lil food helps with it
  25. I'm a bit different type 1 diabetic, high blood pressure, under active thyroid I'm 6 ft 2 321lbs at 42 Bmi. Was told to have gastric bypass however if I loose another 25kgs before op I can get sleeve but loosing that in 6 weeks I'm not pushing it. I would say you are not selfish if you were so am I. I want to loose weight it's just not possible with diet for me with the amount of insulin I'm on and other meds. So do it and loose weight so you can feel good there's nothing wrong with wanting it.
