    FAILED GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY

I don't know what all that means but I think the good news is there is nothing acutely wrong. If the sleeve is too big will they modify it surgically? Hang in there and I hope you get answers soon.

    Breakfast question

After 7 months and almost 80 lbs I have had an occasional "carby" breakfast. I usually eat my Protein first and then am VERY satisfied with just a bite or two. You will be amazed at how your body doesn't even crave those kinds of foods any more. I am able to eat most anything I want but I an usually full after my protein that the other stuff is not as appealing. A bite or two is all I need. Hope that helps. I was freaked out early after my surgery because my brain and body were not on the same page yet. It takes several months but it will happen. Good luck, stay in touch and welcome to a new and healthier life!!
  3. Just checking in to see how everyone survived the holidays. I'm back on track after a very slow December and early January and am losing steadily again. Not as fast as in the beginning but I am still going down. I have a doctors appointment on Monday and am anxious to see what my blood work shows and how they feel I am doing. I really don't have anyway to compare my progress to what is "normal". I know everyone has to go on their own journey but it really helps me to see how I am doing if I can see others. That's why I keep checking back in here. I was sleeved on August 29th and have a pretty uncomplicated course (thankfully). Exercise has become my new friend and I can finally start to see muscles again. Hope everyone is doing well and keep the posts coming. They really help!!

    New here and nervous.

I had several bouts of "what have I done " in the first few weeks, but now that I'm 4+ months and 60 lbs out I'm feeling very happy. It took a while to get used to what is my new normal but I feel so much better and it's getting easier every week to manage. I survived the holidays without gaining (lost only 2 lbs in 3 weeks-yes I indulged a bit) but I'm back on track now. Exercise is critical physically and mentally for me. Hang in there. It gets better. It does take a while but you'll figure it out. ????
  5. Hi I am Sue and had sleeve surgery on 8/27/14 and so far so good. I live in STL with my wife (finally got married 2 years ago after 25 years together) our dog and cats. My weight has been up and down but I decided to do this before I had any real health issues. My wife has been super supportive and has even lost a few pounds because were not going out to eat and the food at home is a little boring right now. I'm 3 1/2 weeks in and am down about 17 pounds post-op (28 total). I need to exercise more but overall I am doing fine. Glad to have this forum to check in and get support from people who are doing the same thing. Sue
  6. You're probably building muscle. Don't focus on the scale but on how your clothes fit and especially how you feel. Sounds like you're doing everything right so hang in there!!!! You will notice the changes soon enough.
  7. I'm 53 and just had my surgery on 8/27. So far so good. Had a bout with "buyers remorse" a couple days ago. What had I done, but I got on here and started reading and felt better. I'm just bored with the liquid diet and am ready for some food. Start week 3 tomorrow. Hello cottage cheese!!! I'm just pushing through because I made this decision with a lot of thought perspective and input. I just have to get my head right some days. I'm mostly good though.

    Lack of Support

Traveler I worried about people thinking I took the easy way too but after years and years of struggles I made this decision for me. It's not easy and it's not like you sit around and weight just melts off. (I wish). It's just now when I diet correctly and exercise I will see results and be able to live a long healthy life. I've told very few people because it's no ones business. I'm eating healthy for my life and I'm happy about it. Proud of you for doing something for you. Your overweight friend knows the struggle but probably doesn't have the courage to take control of her own problems and doesn't want you to leave her alone in "overweight land". Misery loves company, right. Hang in there and do what you need for you.
  9. Carlagrant. Dr Minkin is very nice and very thorough. He takes his time and answered all my questions. The overnight stay in the hospital wasn't bad but my surgery was later afternoon and I should have stayed a second night. Felt queasy and crabby but it turned out fine. Make your. f/u appt with the nutrition nurse for the same day as your one week post op. Makes it easy. You can ask me any questions you have, I'm only 2 weeks out but doing good so far. Good luck!
  10. Happydales. I had a sleeve with dr. Minkin August 27th. Would love to chat and if this group meets I'd love to join you all. Still on full liquids but sure could use some experienced people to talk too. My name is Sue. Thanks.

  13. Hi. I had my sleeve on 8/27/14. I've lost about 21lbs and am feeling pretty good. I've been wearing my fitbit and trying to get in at least 6000+ steps this week working my way back to 10,000 a day. I feel good I am just really bored with the liquid diet and find myself craving foods although I am not hungry. Thursday I get to add some "real" food. Glad to have this place to share. Thanks.
