I had my surgery this morning at 9:15.am. I was supposed to have gastric bypass, but I received the sleeve. This is as due to my liver being huge. The doctor said that I did everything I was supposed to due to shrink it, but it was just bigger than most he's worked with. He said it would have been too dangerous to do the bypass.
Right now I'm doing ok. I'm groggy and dozing off and on . I'm due to start walking around a bit shortly. I'm in pain and the pain meds seems to be helping some but not entirely.
He said everything went well. Now I'm looking forward to the future.

So for 18 days you lost 1.8 pounds A DAY!
Then your body probably said : "WHOA--wait a minute here!"
Take it one day at a time and do what you are supposed to do and your body will likely begin loosing again.
You didn't gain all your weight in 18 days did you?
It still takes time to lose it even with weight loss surgery.
    Blessings,
    Kathleen

For me after I got my approval, I scheduled the surgery date and the pre op appointment. At the pre op appointment, I talked with the surgeon, then when to meet the anesthesiologist. He ordered a few blood tests since it had been six months since the last ones. I’m on a two week phase 2 liquid diet and the day before I will be on a clear liquid diet. My surgery is on 9/23.
Sometimes insurance wants a few more things done before they get approval, but that didn’t happen for me. My dietician said sometimes they want exercises records or a few more pounds lost before approval. It took two weeks for my approval. Once you get approval everything will happen quickly. The best things is to not worry about it. These things can take time and worry can cause different problems. Remain strong, you got this!
    Hope this helps.

Had my three month visit yesterday. I was really trying to hit that 50 pound mark but missed it by 1 pound. Arghh!!
The surgeon was very pleased with my progress. He kept asking about complications or how I've felt, like he couldn't believe my answers about feeling like a million bucks! He told me I looked great and when I said "Thanks to you", he said no, that I had done all the hard work and his part was just a small part of it all. Very nice surgeon!
I told him I would be his poster child for relative lightweights and he asked me if I would be willing to post before and after pics on his website and Facebook page. I told him sure. Well, when I posted my pics on his Facebook page, I didn't realize it would post to my timeline and all my friends and family would see it. I hadn't told them all about having surgery. I got SO many positive likes and comments about my weight loss and not one negative comment about having had surgery.
So, the cat's out of the bag, now!

I understand your problem, simply because food is not like smoking or social drinking . You have to eat, you don't have to smoke or drink. Let's be honest Burger King and McDonald's smells lot better than a cup of Soup or should I say broth. But stay focus on the big picture. I don't start my liquid until the 26th. surgery Oct 8th. During that time I may need you to remind me of these words I shared with you. Good Luck

Hi everyeone! I'm new here. I just signed up yestreday. I've found a lot of the posts very helpful.
My gastric bypass surgery is in two weeks and I've started my phase II liquid diet in prep for the surgery. The foods that I'm supposed to eat aren't bad, but when you work in an office where someone is constantly bringing in Burger King, McDonald's and pizza it can be tough! I know that I have to stay true and follow the diet, but I'm going a bit mad here!
If anything I'll have a better willpower after going through this, right?
Thanks for letting me vent a little bit.
