  1. Yesterday I had my first raw veggie. A celery stick with natural peanut butter. It was delicious. Unfortunately, the celery didn't sit well. I even pared to remove the strings for ease of digestion. This morning's snack is a 1/2 of a med gala apple which I used to eat like candy pre-sleeve. Sadly, I have found this particular apple to be too sweet so I won't be eating it again. That kind of apple is probably too much in the carbs dept which might account for upset tummy (it was a super sweet apple.) Its funny because strawberries & blueberries don't bother me. I want to try salads....I was never one for iceberg, preferring field greens & baby spinach instead which break down better. Has anyone else had or has trouble with raw fruits and veggies? If so, are there any that you've tried that has not messed with your sleeve? My NUT gave me a list to try little by little but so far no luck other than strawberries and blues. Definately can't do bananas thanks to an allergy. I am tired of cooked veggies and fruits. I am 5.5 months out. Any suggestions are appreciated. ????
  2. Same here even though I do get all my Protein and take my vits. It is slowing down though. Saturday I am going for the pixie cut.
  3. Every morning. I like getting on that scale and see it go down.
  4. I thought I was the only one! I never like Krispy Kreme for that exact reason. I prefer cake donuts like Dunkin anywho. Well, I "preferred" Dunkin. I am scared to eat it and don't even crave em.
  5. ???? So sorry to hear of complications. Hope all works out. Blerdgirl is right...def find a surgeon you are comfortable with as this sounds very serious and definitely needs expert medical attention.
  6. I saw that after I responded...my mistake! ???????????? LOL Hang in there. Don't get discouraged. I am routing for you!
  7. I feel that way about my hips! My booty will never go away as I have enough to spare but it is going to sag someday so squats are part if my rotation. Plus it helps build a strong back too which is very important as one gets older.
  8. I gained 6 pounds right after surgery. By weeks end I was down 10. Its fluid retention, etc. Not uncommon. How are you now? ( I see your original post was several months ago)
  9. Right after surgery I was told to strive for 90 grams. Then they had me dial it back to a max of 70 daily to avoid kidney stones. Be sure to stay hydrated because that helps prevent stones.
  10. Happy Belated Birthday. I hope your 2015 and years to follow become uplifting, positive, and bring you happiness. You are in my thoughts.
  11. Here's a link with a hair type chart and recommended hair care products. I use it as a guide. http://m.mizani.com/?m=86&rid=300
  12. @@wicked_ash Guess who was on news this morning? Termini Bros. The line was out the door and every other word was "cannolis!" LOL I could SMELL the cannoli. .......Didn't want even a tiny bite. Isn't that a great feeling? Happy Holidays & may everyone's 2015 be even better!
  13. Look into Pocket Protein. Thats another good item to have on hand post-op dietary wise. Here's a link for the product: http://pocketprotein.com My NUT found it in Wegmans Market. I put it in my flavored waters because I not fond of taste. Goes down smooth and doesn't mess with my tummy. I started 1 week post-op. It looks like one can order a free sample to try it out. A box goes for 14.99 at Wegmans with a Wegmans card. Good luck and congrats everyone!
  14. Wait til you shop after you start losing! Its gonna be fun, fun, fun!Add---sugar-free pops for post op. They were a big help with staying hydrated.
  15. As I read through these boards I've noticed that some input deviates. Case in point...NSAIDS. I was told by my surgeon that the first few months NSAIDS are off limits. Later its ok to take ONLY if a) prescribed by a medical professional who is aware of the fact that a procedure was done, closely monitored & c) only short term. This. From my surgeon. Board certified. Licensed. Excellent tract record. UPenn/Boston med grad. Just saying at the end of the day I take what my medical team says under serious advisement over folks who aren't medical professionals.
  16. That is such a good quote! I am borrowing it!
  17. Congrats! Feel better soon...you will! ????
  18. Me too. I hate them. They're gross...have yet to try one I like enough to get down. I find many have a slimy "under-texture" and leave a bad taste. I still drink them a few times a week but try to get my protein from real food.
  19. I had that. I ended up using a teaspoon. I think it was from gulping and once I started with teaspoon it got much better.
  20. "Therefore, I want to lie about what surgery I'm having. That's where I need your help. What surgery could "look" a lot like the gastric sleeve? And what are the symptoms of that surgery?" Gall bladder, hysterectomy, or hernia. I had all 3 and they do feel and look similar to gastric sleeve....except the post-op diet restrictions. BUT----- A: You don't have to lie about a thing because 1) you don't owe your co-workers any explanations & 2) your medical situation is private. People who ask........ just tell them you had a medical issue, got it under control, and to keep it that way you've made life style changes. This explanation isn't a lie. Never apologize for doing whats best for you. Congrats! I am happy for you! Best wishes and here's to a healthier life!
  21. Post-op....just have a small, firm pillow on hand to hold against your tummy when having a bm, riding in a car and whatnot. The hospital gave me one. My husband was really great so I didn't need or want for much. Oh! Maybe a pitcher or thermos to keep by your bedside filled with water. I would wake up in the middle of the night thirsty. Also, a nice comfy warm robe and socks cuz you are going to get cold! Best of luck and congrats!
  22. ????FOH....the nerve of folks. But I ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ your quick come back. Serves her a$$ right. YOU served her right! Lol
  23. It really is ridiculous....the amount of "food" that is piled onto ones plate in restaurants. At the risk of sounding uppity, I have found that the more upscale a place the less you find your plate filled. Of course, many serve in courses but if done right other than the main course, each portion is small but full of flavor...meant to cleanse a pallet, not to stuff like so many hogs at the trough. I am just going to unashamedly admit that I love food and no amount of surgery is going to change that nor should it. Tastebuds exist for a reason. Lol I think "we" as a society need to realign our emotional thinking about food & need to slow down and actually have a meal that doesn't require scarfing it down. That little rat in the movie Ratatouille had it right (btw, ratatouille is a wonderful dish and can be made sleeve friendly.) Alas, at least in my neck of the woods, slowing down to enjoy a meal isn't a top priority. Growing up I was lucky enough to have learned about gardening too so I grow almost year round. 2015 I plan to embark on year-round growing. I support eating locally and that has been a big help. And I realize all of this may not practical for some but any positive changes you can make is a step in the right direction. I still indulge if it can be called that. The relative difference now is I am acutely aware and mindful of my limits, no longer am I hedonistic about food but instead I call myself flexible because I have to be that way. However, I sure did put an end to my habit of losing sleep over food.... Sorry for the long rant about me. Thats my two-cents anyway. Lol Food does not have to be our enemy, it sustains us and keeps us alive....when treated right.
