Yes. I am . My surgery date is This Wed. the 5th. I go to the hospital Mon. morning for presurgery testing . I'm excited ,scared and inpatient . I'm going through a whole jauntlet of emotions right now .

Congratulation ! I'm so happy for you . I also just got approved. I was supposed to set up my surgery date last friday but it snowed and the office was closed . Now I have to wait until monday.

My last visit to the Dr. was 10/17 . I was told then that they were going to submit everything to BCBC and it would take two months for insurance approval. I called them before Thanksgiving and asked if they heard from the insurance co. yet . They told me they didn't and they would call me as soon as they did. Well, I just got off the phone with the DR.s office and they told me they didn't even submit the paperwork yet that they were waiting for me to get my 5 year weight history from my primary DR. before they could submit any paperwork to BCBS.WHAT!!! I've been waiting for approval for over two months and they were never in touch with me to tell me that they needed my weight history? I told the woman at the Dr.s office that this was the first time I heard of the 5 year history thing. She insisted that I was told all about it . I felt like she was calling me a liar . As a matter of fact that was exactly what she was doing .Bitch!!!! I've been working on getting this surgery since Jan. I did EVERYTHING they told me to do when they told me to do it so why would I intentionally leave out an important piece of the plan? At least admit they made a mistake .And why didn't they call me two months ago and ask about it . I'm sitting here crying I feel like they wasted a year of my life.Can I still trust them ?

Approved at last ! I got a letter from BCBS yesterday that said I was approved. I call the Dr's and they didn't hear anything yet so they are going to call BCBS to confirm it on Tuesday then call me to set the date for surgery. I'm so excited!

I have Horizon BCBS of New Jersey I had to do 6 months of dieting and now waiting for insurance co. approval . The Dr. told me that they go by your starting weight not your weight after the 6 months of dieting . He said even if I lost 30 lbs. and was no longer morbidly obese I would still get the band and be 30 lbs ahead .

Thanks I need all the good luck I can get and I think you're right about the Dr. not seeing the letter.

When I mailed them my paperwork I also inclosed a letter to the Dr. about what happened and how I felt about it . I haven't heard anything from him . When I called the Dr.s office to see if they received my history they didn't say anything about it and when I started to say something I was told that it was in the past and we have to move forward now . No apology , She just brushed it aside like it never happened. Like I said before if I didn't have to start all over again I would go to another Dr.

Well I think you have alot of nerve going to , of all places a DR.s office knowing you were sick!

If I knew for sure I wouldn't have to go through the whole process all over again I would go to a different Dr. We have at less three or four in the surounding area . This one was suppose to be the best . It wouldn't be so bad if they would admit that they made a mistake instead of blaming me for their mistakes . Just say we're sorry we thought we told you that we needed your weight history .and then why wait over two months to call me to get . After they put the package together and saw it was missing call and ask for it don't wait two months and tell me that I called in Nov.they didn't tell me that it was submitted and they were waiting approval. I know what they told me .

The though of losing my hair scares me ,but I still want the surgery. Besides a woman I work with had LBS over a year ago and lost alittle over 100 lbs and she said she didn't have any hair loss at all . So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't lose my hair .

I have two cats 1 male 1female . The female ,Chloe , loves to steal my sons change that she finds on his floor . She carries the coins in her mouth and walks through the house crying until she finds me and drops it at my feet. If I'm not home then she leaves the money on my bed or on the floor next to my bed .My male cat , Lenny , stands at the foot of the stairs at night and cries untill I get out of bed and carry him up and put him on my bed to sleep. Then in the middle of the night when he wants attention he will bite me to wake me up to pet him. I pull the covers up so only my head is sticking out but that doesn't stop he he bites my nose, my cheek or the top of my head what ever it takes to get my attention.

In the one support group I went to there were two men one was 64 the other was 72.They both just had the LBS .

Before I made up my mind that this is what I neded , a few of my coworker and I were talking about WLS and they all thought it was the easy why to lose weight and if people tried hard enought they could lose on their own. I've tried for over 30 yrs and I know I need help

I told my two grown children and three of my closest friends that I'm going to get LBS. I didn't tell any of my coworkers yet . I didn't want them to try to talk me out of something I know I need .

I was sitting here thinking about the apple pie and ice cream in the kitchen when I read about your very bad day . Don't get me wrong I felt very bad for you but I have to admit I laughed so hard . I almost got stuck in a chair at a friends house . It was an old chair and the arms were weak . I was sweating bullets . I haven't been banded yet, still waiting for approval ,but after reading about your day it reminded me why I want the band in the first place.I didn't get the pie .Thank you for snapping me back to reality.

The Dr.'s office submitted my paper work at the end of Sept. and I still haven't heard anything yet .I was told it would take two months for approval .I don't know why it's takes so long . The healthier I am the more money the insurance is going to save.

I get up at 5am and stand in line for the store to open

mine was 40.3 now it's 36.9

I haven't had WLS yet but when I told my best friend of 15 years or more that I was going to get it she was not supportive at all . She told me I could do it on my own and that I just didn't try hard enough and I was taking the easy way out . Mind you she has tried to stop smoking and failed even with the new pills they have now . I now know I can no longer share this part of my life with her .Thats why I started to talk on this site because you understand .

I went to my grandaughters pre school the teacher asked me to sit down then looked at me pushed the little chair aside and pulled over a bigger chair . I was so embarassed . I'm looking forward to sitting in that little chair and not breaking it.

I work for everything I have . I'm a single mom of two . I never received welfare ,food stamps ,housing or medical assistance. I did it all on my own and I'm proud of that . My friend's daughter on the other hand works ( I'll give her that much, she doesn't want to become a permanent employee because she wouldn't be able to miss as much time as she does ) receives section 8 which is housing assistance and medical assistance (even though she can get insurance from her job but doesn't because she would have to pay for it ) . When one of her three children get sick it's off to the emergency room instead of the dr. office .She doesn't care medicade pays for it . Meaning you and me . She has two cars and her boy friend lives with her . Some times he works and some times he doesn't . Oh yea , the state also pays $150 per week per child so she can work . What the hell is wrong with this system ?

I think the whole welfare system needs to reworked . A woman I work with husband was hurt and unable to work for several months . She went to welfare to ask for help until he was able to go back to work . They have three small children .She was told she made to much money for them to help her but , if she would quit her job then she would qualify for help .She refused and they almost lost their home . I thought welfare was supposed to be there to help people who find them selfs in a tight spot to get back on their feet and to get off welfare as soon as possible not to encourage them to become depended on it .

I don't know the Dr's office said it would take two months . I called and no info. yet .
