  1. I was the 4th as well. I haven't been able to get more than 20-30 grams of protein in and I'm having trouble getting to 64oz of hydrating fluids. Every day seems a bit better but it's still been rather troubling. If I drink too much too quickly, it hurts. But going slow makes me feel like I'll never reach my goals. Trying to remind myself that we're all different and that it was a major surgery so I need to focus on healing right now. One day at a time!
  2. I've been exhausted today. Just feel weak and I hate it. I've been struggling with getting in protein supplements and my water. I really was planning on being back at work Tuesday but I think I'm going to need a couple more days. :-(
  3. Are you on a PPI at all? Getting in your 64+oz of water? I'm only 4 days post-op (surgery was Tuesday) but I haven't felt any actual hunger yet. I'm not looking forward to it's return!

    Where are the November Sleevers?

I was released yesterday morning and have been recouping at my parents house. Kinda nice having mom baby me again. Lol I'm feeling pretty good but still pretty sore. I've only taken one small dose of pain meds and that was right before bed last night. Weirdest post-op issue... I couldn't wear my contacts into surgery so I wore my glasses. They put a motion sickness patch behind my right ear and she said that it might effect my vision. And it did! I have to take my glasses off to read my phone. But far away stuff is fine. Such a weird reaction! I'm still not getting in a full 64 oz of water but I'm getting really close. I never expected it to be such a struggle to drink water! I was used to guzzling down 3+ liters a day, easy! The only things I've had besides water was chicken bullion in the hospital Tuesday evening, a hot chocolate protein supplement and some strained chicken and dumplings broth yesterday. I definitely like how the warm liquids feel in my little tummy. Good luck to everyone still waiting. Can't wait to hear your stories and start sharing our "after" pictures!!!

    Where are the November Sleevers?

I'm just over 12 hours post-op. So far, so good. I've had some discomfort but nothing unbearable. They have done a great job keeping me medicated. I will say that sipping the water is tough. I want to take bigger gulps but even my little ones kinda hurt. In pretty sure it's all gas because I'll burp after almost every drink. Lol Been doing my hourly walks and finally about to settle into bed and try to get some sleep.

    Catheter during surgery

I asked specifically about that because I've never had one (even though I've had a couple other surgeries). My doctor said that he doesn't use one either for much the same reason as the above poster. Surgery doesn't last long and he wants you up within a couple of hours post-op.

Money out of pocket day of procedure

I have Anthem BCBS with an $1100 deductible. I met that with my sleep study back in the beginning of October. However, my surgeon is out of network and has had issues with my carrier in the past so requires his fee upfront ($3725). The hospital also required my 20% co-pay upfront as well ($2484). I paid all of that Monday at my post-op on Monday. I knew all this from day one so had planned for it. Any portion of that the insurance ends up covering will come back to me.
  9. I'm only taking a week off. I'm a manager at a cell phone company and we're getting into our busy time of year and I need to be there. I'm a little worried about it but my team is very supportive so I'll be able to take breaks and stay hydrated.
  10. I've been very open with everyone about my surgery and they've all been super supportive. Everyone at work knew that I've been stressed about my pre-op appointment today because I hadn't lost the full 38lbs the doctor required (I was 3lbs shy yesterday). So when I came to work after my appointment, they were all anxious to find out. It was such a great feeling knowing how much these guys are rooting for me. :-) Then to make it even better, my District Manager, who I just saw last week, came in right before we closed. I came out of the back and he immediately commented on how he could really tell I've lost weight. Totally made my evening. One more week!!!

    Pre-op drinks.

Depends on your plan. Mine is just a scoop of powder with water, no fruit. Check with your dietician/nutritionist and see what your clinic guidelines are.
  13. My dietician says 50/25/25 with the 50% being protein. That's how I have my goals set in MFP. :-)

    Where are the November Sleevers?

Looks like this is happening! The surgeon even gave me a high-five. Lol I'm currently sitting downstairs in the hospital waiting to have my pre-op labs done. This time next week, I'll be on Clear Liquids and a bundle of nerves!!!

    Where are the November Sleevers?

Sitting at the clinic, waiting for my pre-op appointment. I'm so nervous he's going to tell me that I can't do it on the 4th. I don't know why, I just am! Ugh

    Where are the November Sleevers?

I just watched a video of a sleeve procedure on YouTube and now I'm kinda freaked out. Lol! I think I liked it better when I didn't know what it actually looked like in there! Hahaha

    Where are the November Sleevers?

My surgeon doesn't require the EGD either. I don't have a history of reflux or heartburn so that may be why. I do know that a friend who used the same clinic but a different doctor had one fixed that they discovered while doing her surgery so I'm not worried about it. Look at it this way, it's one less out of pocket cost/hit on your insurance!

    Where are the November Sleevers?

At my clinic, the cost actually goes up by $1000 if you get it done in December. They said it was the hospital that raised it, not their fee. I thought that was crazy. But I think it's because most people have the extra time off work and because everyone wants to start the year as their "new self" so there's a lot more people trying to get in. Plus like another poster started, insurance deductibles start over so folks are trying to save money.

    Where are the November Sleevers?

It's called final countdown. It was just a freebie in the android market. I can't wait to see single digits!!!
  22. I'm kind of an exception because I have a very short availability window to have surgery this year. And I didn't start seeing my surgeon until the end of August. He's strict on requiring a pre-op weight loss and my required amount was 38lbs. Tried just eating healthy the first month and only lost 9lbs. Switched to three shakes and a lean protein/non-starchy veggie dinner. Lost about 16 in three weeks but still had 13 to go so dietician put me in full liquids a week ago today. Only 7 pounds to go!!! Yay!
  23. That's what I have to keep telling myself! I am on all liquids, since last Wednesday. It's been rough but I just keep focusing on how I'm going to feel a year from now!
