    Halloween challenge

Today 207.5. Hit my FIRST goal since sleeved 9/16 and it feels so wonderful. Wasn't sure if I would make it with medical issues and going on Prednisone, but here I am???? YAY!!!! Thx Susan, safe travels and hope ur move goes smooth????
  2. I have just been diagnosed with RA. It flared a week pre-op. Didn't know what was wrong . They put me in prednisone. First an high dose injection and then daily pills. Not sure about your current meds, but I know prednisone is approved by my doctor. Good luck with your surgery. Please let me know how you do and what your doctors all say.

post op time off from work

Sleeved 9/16. I am in outside sales running to clients all day. I only took off 8 work days. It was not enough for me! I am 53 with 4 kids and I'm full of energy normally. I was so tired for the first 4 weeks. By the end of they day I would get home and go right to bed. I had no issues with the surgery and not much pain afterwards, just ZERO energy. This last week I can say I'm getting back to normal. I guess it's a personal journey for everyone. For me I should have def taken 3-4 weeks, even 2.... Lol. I just thought I could bounce back quick. Kudos to those who were where able to get back to normal in 1 week, I'm jealous, but happy for you????

    Sleeve or Bypass?

For me the sleeve was an easy decision over bypass. But that was based on my medical history of ulcerative colitis. My good friend had a bypass and is very happy with her decision 5 years later. It's a very individual decision based on your own personal medical history. I know people that have been successful and people that have regressed on both surgeries. There are so many factors involved . The surgery is def not a quick fix. It's changing eating habits for life - regardless of what you choose . Good luck!!
  5. Someone else posted this article and I found it informative about why our bodies stall.. Doesn't make us like the stall any better, but at least explains why... http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.php
  6. there is an alert option on the main menu. I have mine set for my 6 meal times, but you can set it for anything. I also use my alarm on my phone . So now my phone goes off all day. Chose a calming alert sound for the phone alarm. I'm 5 weeks out and thus has been very helpful for me. My job is crazy and I'm driving all over so my alerts/ alarms help keep me in track. Find what works for your daily schedule and stay with it???? good luck!

    Here endeth the stall

Great article thanks! I am 5 1/2 weeks out and just came out of a 2 week stall. I wasn't worried because everyone keeps talking about it, but did not understand the physical reason so thank you for sharing. Now 6 lbs just melted away in under a week????????
  8. My Doc and NUT said to wait 1 month and only have 1 drink if you are going to partake. I was in a social situation 4 weeks Post WLS and had a glass of wine. I was fine and couldn't even finish it. Mind you - this passed summer pre- sleeve my friend and I easily polished off a bottle in no time. Listen to your body and don't over do it. Just remember your overall long term goals. Good luck!
  9. You've done such an amazing job, congrats on your huge overall weight loss ! After reading your post, sounds like you know exactly what's going on and how to fix it. I'm still new, but my friend had a similar experience after 2 years. The scale started going in the wrong direction again. She told me that weight management is a lifetime event and she had just fallen back into old behaviors. She went back to basic Protein meals and tracking to lose the added weight. At least you caught yourself at only 15lbs up. Good luck!
  10. I was sleeved 9/16. HW 249 SW 229 CW 210.5 I just came out of a 2 week stall. After I got home from the hospital I went from 228 to 237. But I kept tracking and monitoring everything I ate and drank. It is finally starting to come off again. I also got really sick during this time and could not walk. They have me on prednisone now and the pain is gone. So I have had minimal exercise during this past month. I am just so happy that I did this and feel blessed. Every day really is a gift!!!

    Week 6: May 27-31st Sleevers

Now more than ever your son is your reason to be strong and healthy, he needs you. My good friends son has Aspergers, was diagnosed young. He is now 18 and heading away to college soon. It wasn't easy, but there is so much help out there. They belong to support groups and learned so much from these groups over the years. They had him changed schools till they found one he thrived in. Now he is doing great and heading off to college next Sept. Good luck and breath deep . You will make it through this, just don't try and do it alone????

    Week 6: May 27-31st Sleevers

    Congrats!!!! You look great????
  14. Taste buds change and change again from what I've been reading. I know mine did. But Protein is critical right now. I wasn't doing well with meat in the beginning so I used a lot of dairy protein, but definitely not carbs. The dairy helped me through and now I'm getting better with meat Fat free sugar free mini Ricotta cheese cakes have become a favorite of mine. I spent a lot of time searching homemade recipes for alternative protein sources that appealed to my new taste buds. Find what u r craving that's protein based and get off those carbs, the craving should dissipate. That will help the physical cravings....The mental part is something only you can work on. Good luck????

    One Week Stall?

My stall was 2 weeks long, don't focus on the short time, look at the bigger picture and take a look at before and after pics. It helped me stay focused on the prize and finally my stall ended and the lbs are dropping again???? good luck

    Will I ever feel better?

Agreed , we have all had our moments and the beginning is not easy but it does get better. I'm only 5 weeks and this past weekend was my true turning point. You are going to have these moments, stalls, and other things. But nothing is as sweet as watching that scale drop. Then you will know it really is worth it! Good luck and spend time on this app, it helps to know you are not alone. We are in this together????

    Halloween challenge

I can walk again!! Loaded up on prednisone but happy to be able to move !! 213.5
  23. Is there a medical reason your doctor has you on this "only protein" menu, or is this what they do for all their patients. That would be the 1st thing to ask. I'm only 1 month out, but from spending hours on this site the only certain thing is that so far every doctor has had different directions from pre op , through surgery , and then after post op. Normally the rule is to follow doc's orders. But as an adult you have the right to question ... Why?? Then you can make an educated evaluation -Is this right ( the best choice for success) for you at this time
  24. *Pics n measure monthly , they say sometimes u won't loose a lot but will loose inches . *Get your house in order, first month I was very very tired n other medical issues came up so absolutely nothing extra got done. *chew slowly, don't drink n eat together, follow all doctors directions *i was very generous in hospital to myself with pain meds (pump) and really never had much pain, and I am horrible with pain aka- a wimp! I wasn't looking to win any "tough guy" awards. Listen to ur body n do what feels right for you. *Eat slow, measure everything in the beginning that you put in your mouth n listen to ur stomach. You shouldn't need to ever dump if you do this (throw up) I haven't . I stop before I ever get to that point and walk around. * I use My Fitness Pal to track my daily intake n make sure I am on track with Protein, Water Vitamins etc . Everyone has their own method, find what works for you n stick with it. * Enjoy the journey and good luck????
  25. this is sooo true . I only had a tiny gout attack 1 time. and it came back with a vengeance when I had the surgery !
