After a 10 day stall my scale moved. I lost "1" lb. SOOOOOO EXCITED this morning. Jeez, 9 days was an eternity. Anyone had had long stalls like that? I don't understand why it happens. Has anyone heard a good answer from their doctor. My NUT just said not to worry about it. Well!!!

@@misstvb So glad you have felt better after eating. I too usually feel fine after eating. I have come to the conclusion my nausea it is mostly from eating a bite or two too many and not chewing things properly and slowly. If I eat slowly like I am supposed to, I am fine. Yesterday, I didn't do so good with lunch. I had something I had 100 times before but I was watching a movie and it was an exciting part. I forgot I was eating too fast and of course nausea for an hour. The rest of the day I was iffy. Dinner was a fabulous ground beef patty. After two bites I was full. I waited another 10 minutes and was able to get another two bites in. Then, another 10 minutes and my final 3 bites. My NUT told me to try after a break to eat some more and she was right it does work. Patience is key. Not my strongest quality but I'm working on it.

Luna and Amy, you sound like your Iron and or Vitamin D level maybe down. I had those exact symptoms when I was anemic a year ago. Are you making sure to take your multi Vitamins everyday? I take two horse size Centrum complete daily. One in the morning and one in the evening. I feel amazing. I have more energy then I have in years. I mention this because Bypass has that side effect for many of us. But at the 3 month visit you'll have a complete lab work done. That's when your doctor or RN will adjust any supplements.

    Constipation

My doctor's RN has placed me on a daily pill of Peri-Colace. I take it in the evening with plenty of fluids. If I still have issues I dissolve a packet of Miralax with a drink during the day. But I will also add a little amount of prune juice to my cold drinks. Just a splash but I am going to add flax seed powder and insoluble fiber ASAP because lots of people have reported to like it. I was in such trouble I wasn't willing to see what worked. Not taking a chance. Yes, it was that bad. Still it is 5 days to a week per BM and I went daily before surgery.
  5. I am 8 weeks post RNY and I can eat anything in small amounts. I have to eat slowly and chew very well but so far so good. My most difficult foods are banana, baked salmon and noodles from chicken noodle Soup. But I can eat both but only one or two bites as part of a meal. At times after chewing, I spit out something too textured like pineapple, orange or the skin of red Beans. My NUT says I should be okay but I am a little afraid. I have also tried pizza, steak, all the "meats". I have tried dessert: pie, chocolate, cake, fudge. But only one bite. I did have two bites of fudge once and my heart was racing. Now I now my limit is one bite. I think it's because it's so sweet. But just being able to savor that small bite is so satisfying I am actually very happy about it. As you know, we can't eat too much of anything because our stomachs are so small. It works! Take it slow and easy. Even if something doesn't work right now try it again in a month.

    Compression garments?

I use then and love it. I have several types. You have to ry and see what works best for you.

    meat eaters

I use the slow cooker. Chicken thighs are the best. There are countless recipes and I place cooked portions in baggies and freeze. I can defrost when I need it. I also like chilli with black eyed peas. I find the red bean skins too thick to chew. I grind my own beef because I found the store brought ground beef had too many chunks (cartilage and tendons) I needed to spit out. I use the food processor or the grinder attachment on my KitchenAid mixer. You can also have your meat department grind the beef piece you choose. Giant Supermarket does it. You can even ask them to grind it twice for a finer texture. We eat so little that the cost is less then what we used to pay prior to surgery. The chilli I make is heavy on the beef but I also add some bell peppers and celery chopped fine. Again I use the slow cooker. If you don't have a slow cooker you can use a pot on the lowest heat possible of the smallest burner and check for liquid every 1/2 hour. Anything cooked 2 hours will be so soft. Give it a try.

Hair loss has started for me too. I am taking Biotin as well but I can see a little thinning on the front, where my natural part is. I bought something this week I have wanted to for years, a wig. It's a hoot and I love it. I have a pixie haircut and the wig I purchased is the same color as my hair but about shoulder length. I can put it on and look amazing in 5 seconds. My natural hair is curly and I usually blow dry it and straighten it. Of course, it's a chore. This wig is such a treat. I just did it for fun and you should have seen the look on my husband's face when I got home. I wish I had recorded it. It was worth buying the wig just for that. It took him two days to realize it was a wig. Men! SO my hair grew 10 inches between breakfast and dinner? Right! My youngest said, I guess I never realized you hair was that long, lol. The entire family was shocked but not one realized it was a wig. Silly boys.

@@AuriP You look amazing. What a difference. Your hips are shapely and things go where they belong. Last Tuesday, I measured myself and for the first time in forever my measurements show my tummy smaller then my hips. Apple shape gone. I don't think you had the traditional apple shape but your tummy is going away really fast and it will continue to do so. Hurray!

@@superbariatricbabe Your father is having a hard time seeing the world through your eyes. You'll have to teach him. It maybe a rocky road at first but he is capable. Don't let him get away with it. The best way to handle that is to come out and say. I know you went through all this trouble to make a beautiful pizza but I can't eat it. I had gastric Bypass and I have to eat a high Protein diet or I will get sick and nauseous and throw up. It's not good. But the good news is I can eat all the meats and veggies, blah, blah, blah. I am glad you didn't eat the greasy pizza. Tell him you can't. However, I did eat pizza the other day. I had just the toppings and not the crust. I had a slice of a veggie and then a meat lovers. Yes, it had lots of fat but I was actually testing out my ability to eat fat. My NUT thought my burping maybe because i can't tolerate fat. Well, not true. I felt absolutely fine after the pizza and next day I had my first normal BM since surgery. Because I have lost 50 lbs, and I am 8 weeks post, my NUT actually wants me to eat more. I am by no means suggesting you should change your diet but I was told to include some fat because some Vitamin absorption and hormone balance require it. I was eating too healthy, lol.

    Left side pain

At 4 weeks it was completely gone for me but it was more like a pulling sensation by week two and it would only bother me getting out of bed or bending. Take it easy. You'll get there. Now I don't even know I had incisions and i'm 8 weeks post.

@@Janice1968 I too take some very urgent trips to the bathroom. Is it worth it? 100% YES. I feel like a million bucks and gladly give up an hour here and there of misery until I learn to eat for how good I feel. I swear I even feel like I can think more clearly. My entire day, I'm happy. I stare at myself in the mirror as I am amazed at my 50 lb weight loss. I have a long way to go but how I feel is priceless. I can run up the stairs and shop for hours. Everything was hard before, now all my daily activities are easy and those are things most people take for granted like clipping my toenails or shaving my legs. I actually got to the point were I wore long pants and closed toe shoes to avoid doing those 2 things. Hello, I LOVE my Bypass surgery and I will scream it from the mountain top because I believe it with all my soul. Is it easy? No. But nothing really worth having comes without effort. It's like giving birth to a new person.

    Dismorphia raised it's ugly face

I understand. He didn't say it but you heard it. Because ultimately we hear what we already believe in. I think there maybe something more to this holiday season then what you are conscious of. You'll have to dig deeper to find the source. I may very well be a place you don't want to visit. However, I have seen your photo and you do look amazing. So, it's all in your head girlfriend. It's hard to love who we are specially because we did not for so long. A great goal for 2015 is for us to learn to love who we are, battle wounds, scars inside and out because we are like these magnificent trees with textured bark, wise and alive in the full sense of the word!

    Frothing

I am not sure what you mean but foamies as they are regularly called by the WLS community are caused by eating too fast and not chewing enough. Also overfilling will cause a slime like saliva to coat your esophagus because as food gets stuck at the opening of esophagus it causes a protective reaction in the form of slime. This is true for both Bypass and sleeve. Are you drinking too much at one sitting? Consider lingering with your cup of coffee. My favorite sweetener is Nectresse. It's monk fruit and hard to find.

We all look fantastic and feel fantastic. All this weight loss is giving us the energy to be even more wonderful then we already are. Have a wonderful Christmas and Holiday season! Love you fellow gladiators!
  18. Many of us are lactose intolerant after WLS. Also, the right enzymes are not present in your stomach for a few weeks even months after surgery. This is why in the early stages you have to eat like a baby, trying each food to see what agrees with you. However, you can give it a try later on and you may be fine then. I am 8 weeks past RNY and I can have a little milk again. Not a full glass (tried, no good) but a splash on herbal tea or if included in a recipe. Don't hesitate to take a little u-turn in regards to food if something doesn't work. You and your tummy are getting acquainted. But I will tell you, some of your favorite foods may no longer be. I was a big fan of bananas, now I can't even smell them. But potato chips all of a sudden are the cat's meow. I steal a little one here and there and my tummy likes them. Now gas, me too. I burp and pass gas a lot. I hope this resolves because it's ridiculous at this point. Oh well!

I was thinking about some of you girl's comments regarding other sites and threads being unkind. I have seen it too and I was wondering why people do that? What need does that fulfill? The judging and almost bitchy attitude is upsetting for sure. I wonder where does that come from? Why? Does it ever make us feel better to be that way?

@@misstvb I know what you mean. My closet is full of clothes but nothing fits. I have a feeling we are going to be in this in between stage for a while. We can't get new wardrobes in every size but maybe a couple things here and there just to brighten up my life is my plan. I feel sorry about my jeans I have a lot of nice jeans and they are all huge. As in even we a belt they look huge. Hey, I bet we are going to be able to pose with our huge pants someday, standing next to them and they will look twice as wide as us. I'm going to love that. Remember, this stage won't be forever and we are on our way. Soon enough we'll reach the healthy weight that will allows us a stable wardrobe. It will be glorious too because the choices will be fantastic. I can fit in XL right now and wow, there is so much choice available. It's just around the corner for all of us.

    Total TMI

Keep on top of things. I am 8 weeks post and my first 4 BMs were horrible. I too didn't go for a week at a time. I take Peri-Colace daily now. That first BM required two doses of Miralax, one milk of Magnesia and two full bottles of Magnesium Citrate and those burned all the way down. Please don't let it get so bad. I believe it was 14 days before I went and at 11 days I was in agony. I started taking meds at 7 days. I urge you to start now. I thought I was going to have to go to the ER.

@@wildGoose I am behind you 100% on the clothes issue, we simply have to stop wearing potato sacks. I mentioned in a previous post I was looking at photos at another WLS site and was struck by how unflattering we dress as a group when overweight. Myself included by the way. I think we just don't want to deal with it. At least I didn't. I felt like I was going to look bad anyway, who cares. Well, not anymore. After the amount of weight we have all lost we can see the difference now and our shape is changing for the better. I think it's so important to feel good about our incredible success so far. We are doing so awesome as a group. We rock inside and out. I want to celebrate who we are. It's going to take some adjusting and it won't always be an easy road. I know but we owe it to ourselves. Every single picture I have seen of our group after WLS has been so good. Just so good. I am beaming with pride.
