3+years out milestone?
I don't mean to sound like all hope is lost! I personally regained because 1) my band had problems and 2) I had 2 young children and a lot of family drama and didn't make good food decisions. I learned my lesson for sure and I take full responsibility for my regain. What I meant to express was that we need to be constantly vigilant and keep up with the latest data that can help us stay healthy. @vsgann201 I know that the published LABS studies don't reflect a 3 year gain but what I heard was based on the research coordinator at my center who came in to chat with me at my last appointment. She is giving ANECDOTAL observations based on her experience with patients. I myself was a LABS subject with my lap band and she said I was the #1 most successful patient from my center.

3+years out milestone?
So I don't want to be debby downer here but this is what I heard. My surgeon is one of the surgeons who was involved in the multi-center study "LABS" or longitudal assessment of bariatric surgery. They have found with most surgeries at the three year mark there is a lot of regain. I don't think they know why. I do know that your body will always "want" to gain weight. It will try to go back to your highest weight. One reason is that you never lose the fat cells that are created when you gain weight - they simply deflate so it will be much easier for us to "re-infflate" those cells. This is a huge fear for me since I lost all of my excess weight with the lap band and then regained when the band stopped working. I regained incredibly fast. I was told that this is something we will almost all face and that it will be a lifelong battle. Almost nobody is "fixed" by this surgery. I don't have an answer but I was told that if I felt the hunger coming back strongly at the 2-3 year mark I could see a specialist for a medication that would help with that. This has been very successful for bariatric patients. I apologize in advance - I know my answer isn't precise or maybe correct but I am not in the medical profession!

Oh many breakfast today!
I hope so. Do you think my calories are too low at this point? Some days my carbs are VERY low like under 20 some days they are slightly above 50. I feel like I am losing more slowly than with the band but maybe that is just my perception. I can't find my weigh-in records from that time. My husband thinks I am crazy by the way.

What do you do when you just cant tolerate another protein shake ?
How far out are you? I am 5 weeks out and when I went on solids at 3 weeks I started phasing out the Protein drinks. I just make sure I get my target 60-80gm each day by food. Is this a possibility for you?

Oh many breakfast today!
I somehow just consumed 300 calories for breakfast! I am averaging 600-700 calories at 5 weeks out but I didn't plan today and ended up with a 2 egg omelet and a piece of bacon from a takeout place and I had already had a skim milk latte. I wonder if it will have an adverse effect and ramp up my weight loss? I have been averaging an ounce or 2 every couple of days and no more than 1/2 to 1 lb a week since week 3. Edited to say please forgive my typo in the title!

Steak
I've had a positive experience as well!

Probiotic Anyone?
So my nutritionist told us that there is some evidence (not conclusive evidence) that there is more weight loss with a daily probiotic. Does anyone know about this and if so, what probiotic are you taking? We were told we could take this once we managed to take all of our other supplements faithfully. The idea was it can't hurt you! If it helps great. Thoughts?

Revision surgery

MFP and Other questions
Does anyone else have a problem with myfittnesspal ap for iPhone? Often I log something and then it doesn't show up in my diary- i do this repeatedly. It is very annoying - am I doing something wrong. I am almost 5 weeks out and eating between 600-800 calories a day and hitting the Protein goal without shakes. I have been on solids for a week now, eating chicken, burger patty without bun and chicken burgers, meatballs cheese etc. Does this seem weird to anyone? I feel like many on this site can barely eat. I don't understand this. I asked my PA and she said that I think it is because your surgeon is amazing. She said she goes bariatric conferences and is bewildered that patients even have problems with this surgery. This made me feee a bit better but since I am a revision I can't help but worry. My carbs are usually very very low but I have no problem eating small meals. Keep wondering if something is wrong!

I feel so full...
Is it that you don't like taste or temp of water or are you having pain? Try changing temp or adding a squirt of lemon. If it is pain try sipping very slow.

Hamburgers are gross
I love half a burger with no bun with a bit of ketchup and Carmelized onions.

Quest bars
So I just had half a s'mores one which I nuked for 10 seconds. It wasn't bad but a little sweet.

Roll call all who had surgery JUNE 2015

Roll call all who had surgery JUNE 2015
You have the same stats as me except I had surgery 6/30. I am in a stall and was losing hope that I would make my goal of 229 by labor day but you have given me hope! I am slightly shorter than you though 5' 6''. Can I ask how long your three week stall lasted if you have one?

June 30th Sleevers?
Hi All! I haven't checked in for a bit. I hurt my back right after surgery (like a week later) then received from that and then strained it again! Such a bummer when you cannot take advil. Anyway I am up and going again but very weak. I am phasing in solids now and find that the amount I can eat varies completely by what I am eating. Fish I can usually do 3-4 ozs and other kind of meat ( mostly chicken or burger patty) I can only do about 2 ozs at this point. I am eating about 600-800 cals a day but really not going above 60 grams of protein mostly because I can't stand the protein drinks. I am in the middle of a stall for the past week but I am down about 20-22lbs if you count my 2-day clear liquid diet. I have been following your thread as a fellow 6/30 patient but have been so busy haven't been able to post much. Edited to say that I find that I can eat about 1/2 cup of egg salad or more (so I need to stay away) or only 2ozs of tuna salad or deli meat like ham or turkey. I am going to try to stay away from the foods like egg salad since I can eat much more of that and focus on the ones that give me more restriction. I am also thinking of experimenting with different things to make my tuna salad with like avocado instead of lf mayo.

The dreaded stall....
I'm similar. I lost about 12 the first week, 4 the second week. 1 each week following. I am about to start week 5 and hoping things pick up soon! Averaging 600-800 cals and 60 grams of Protein.

Quest bars
I just went to look at the quest bars to have around for emergency protein but the look very high in carbs. Am I wrong? How do these work for people and what are the favorite flavors.

I feel so full...
Do you mean June or July 22? Either way that sounds pretty normal. I'm 6/30 and I manly feel like that with dense proteins now.
