    Possible Dumb Question

I want to know what I'm doing wrong I'm five months post op two weeks ago I drank a 12 oz protein shake in about 20 mins it hurt like hell and in short order came right back up was first time since surgery I had ever thrown up I was trying to finish it before it got warm and yucky I won't do that again anytime soon

    avoiding temptation when...

It shouldn't be much of an issue for two or three months u likely won't want it and like the others have said there isn't a lot of space in there so u better eat the protein first and u get so full really fast I'm five months post op I still can't eat more than a 1/2 cup at a time which my dr office says is right so don't worry too much about it I cooked and froze 6 weeks worth of dinners for my husband before my surgery I'm glad I did too I didn't feel like cooking at all
  4. Hope all went well and u have a great recovery
  5. If you see a cardiologist or endocrinologist for any reason lots of times they will approve also gyno all mine were willing to ok it for me

    Why Am I So Tired?

@@Indieflickers it wasn't fun but I'm great now was mostly due to dehydration the dr thinks hope you feel better and you get answers

    Why Am I So Tired?

I had this issue as well I'm five months post op sleeve but it was just a few weeks after surgery I felt so weak could barely shower I wasn't getting enough fluids u may need more than your getting I also had to eat a bit more than I was however I also have AFib and it was determined that my potassium was low and I was given a RX for that and my thyroid meds had to be adjusted do not take any supplements without dr approval though potassium can alter heart rhythms u need blood work to see what's going on

    Kinda Screwed up... :(

I'm five five months post op and I can barely eat a small piece of a chicken and cheese quesadilla mine wasn't fried but I still couldn't finish it your very fresh from surgery still that wasn't a good idea just yet your still swollen inside and it was likely too rich for you at this point pls don't beat yourself up we have all been there being on strict pre op diets and barely eating post op when things start to taste good and smell good again our brains say yes!!! Let's try that doesn't always work well lol as for ppl being critical of you having surgery well you kinda have to have a thick skin u can't let it bother you don't discuss it that opens the door for ppl to give opinions and if some assclown starts anything shut it down say I only discuss medical issues with my dr thank you the thing is ppl don't get this unless they have been thru it some ppl like to feel superior and give comments on issues they know nothing about they will say oh your fat why don't u do something about it and then when u do they sit in judgment for those saying oh it's the easy way I say this well when you have the procedure and u live with it and all that it entails we can talk about and review why you feel it's so easy until then keep your opinion to yourself
  9. shellyd88

    Having Doubts

Yes u can gain back again the issue is the same as always burn more than u consume if u eat or drink high calorie high fat high carb high sugar yep it will be right back where it was
  10. I agree pls talk to dr this can be true for some ppl usually ppl that have underlying issues such as lung disease which my husband has and takes steroids for if your daughter is otherwise healthy she may be accepted to surgery with a lung function test first the steroids do inhibit healing however is more impacted by bacteria if she isn't having a bypass they may do it always ask the dr first before discontinuing meds it takes so much time to adjust to diff meds etc
  11. shellyd88

    Having Doubts

Ok I'm five months post op I chew gum every day I was told no gum don't think it was explained why I took up gum chewing when I put down smoking lol I'm alive to tell about it so I guess it won't harm you as long as u don't swallow it I agree with what others are saying lots of things I used to like and eat a lot of don't taste the same which is a good thing for those of us who tend to eat bags of chips or pints of ice cream etc put in whatever your favorite is or was lol plus u get full faster so u do feel satisfied after a while u can eat things not so good for you occasionally just not everyday for example I've had a bit of potato or bread here or there I just don't make it a habit or the meal I sometimes miss being able to have say a sub but I sure do like not having high blood pressure or heading into diabetes or sleep apnea and not having trouble breathing going up the stairs and fitting in the chair in the dr office hair salon etc
  12. U may not want to hear this but ... Be happy your going lol ok seriously this happened to me too when u transition to diff stages things will move faster or slow down I think not being able to go is worse I personally found I cannot tolerate sugar free foods at all they don't like me and bad things happen lol so maybe keep a log of what your eating and if u have ill effects maybe you will see a pattern too much sugar or fat can cause troubles too or if your eating fruits and veggies too early in your healing that can cause a lot of discomfort too
  13. Ashelybrady87 I'm sleeved and I felt the same way for a long time I'm five months post op meat fish etc some things take longer to get used to and to be able to tolerate small bites chew very well make it as moist as possible and don't try to eat a lot at once try a couple bites this is what I found I had to do there's a lot of swelling and it takes time to get used to it's a process that can be very frustrating it forces you to slow down I would feel as if it was stuck in my throat too flake it up small and fine and try that just maybe a couple bites and try to build up to it from there I just today was able to eat a portion of tuna and finish it and not feel like it was going to come up in my throat and take up residence lol my dog was so unhappy he didn't get to finish my lunch lol I still have trouble eating in the morning at times I take a bite and feel sick my nutritionist told me it's probably still some swelling and to try some warm tea or warm drink of whatever I'm allowed and then try eating later it seems to have helped
  14. Well yes this is the part they don't say much about while your waiting to have the surgery it's a process it takes time to get used to and yes it's normal for a few weeks I was only able to take tiny sips there's a lot of swelling on your insides nothing tastes good etc it does get better the important thing is to not get dehydrated force yourself to drink drink drink it's like a job at first lol it takes a few weeks to get to where you can take a normal sip again at least for me I hated the protien drinks I ended getting unflavored protien powder and mixing it with drinks soups broth tea etc tip mix it with a bit of water first when adding to hot liquids or it clumps I used genepro
  15. Could be notes or weigh ins by the surgeons office call the insurance company and ask them what it means what are they missing etc?
  16. shellyd88

    Waiting is the hardest part.

Do what I did I had the same nonsense happen go to the office get a copy in your hot little hand walk it down the hall and give to the other dr we have to do all the work and then we have to pay these idiots oh yeah keep a copy for yourself in case they don't have it or never received it later on
  17. shellyd88

    Prilosec/Omeprazole

My surgeon put me on it for 90 days prior to surgery and 90 days after when my RX ran out within 24 hours I had such reflux woke up from a sound sleep felt like someone lit a fire in my throat that's never happened to me in my life ever was horrible chewed like 4 tums to put out the "fire" they said I had a hiatal hernia which was supposedly repaired I can't seem to get by without it had to go buy over the counter stuff I told the np at surgeons office they don't seem to be concerned I was told well that happens to some ppl

    Fat confessionals

@@natnat919 u absolutely are valuable no matter what your weight never let anyone make u feel otherwise how wonderful for you to have such freedom with your job wish that was me!!! Lol
  19. One thing I will point out is that to my knowledge no weight loss will be counted until u begin your program and u get officially weighed in and they start a chart for you so it doesn't count unless they record it after I did that they started I had to go once a month to be weighed etc was told I had to Lose 5% before I could even meet surgeon for a consult

    Anxiety overload

I think it's totally normal to freak out and be scared it's a life changing thing to do u can eat again I promise it will take time to work up to things you ate before but u absolutely can and will eat normally again now by normally I don't mean making a habit of eating high fat high calorie high sugar foods that got us this way to begin with I'm close up five months post op sleeve I can eat most anything I've had no issues meat is a little hard u really must chew carefully I've not thrown up or anything eat slow when u start solid food u get full very fast and u can easily become uncomfortable after just one bite too many I read that advice for months before my surgery on this site however it's a lesson I had to learn in the moment it will seem impossible in the first weeks that u will eat normal food again we are all here to tell u that you will it is a process I'm not gonna lie or bs you it takes getting used yo it's a re adjustment u will find that u feel satisfied as u are full just as u were full before but on much more food then needed follow what the dr office tells u to do
  21. The surgeons know what will hurt you if u go to low as far as coverage they deal with insurance everyday they will instruct u on what to do
  22. Hi u will be ok tell them when u have the pre admission testing they will ask u if u have any questions or concerns tell them about past experience with anesthesia or nausea thrust me the Drs and nurses absolutely do not want u throwing up so u don't bust stitches etc it will delay your healing they will give u all the anti nausea meds u ask for I promise it's a standard order for post op they don't want u to not drink fluids and if your nauseas or throwing up u won't drink that's opposite of what they want
  23. shellyd88

    Light headed

Yes this happened to me as well I was taken off my blood pressure meds I was warned prior to surgery by my reg dr and my surgeon that this could happen however pls notify your dr before discontinuing any meds and yes stay hydrated this can cause those symptoms as well I also take heart meds that had to be adjusted if you have any issues call your reg dr or your cardio dr or your surgeon asap for instructions
  24. I feel the pain lol I too am always jonesing for a diet coke I've had a little bit here and there a few sips but it really doesn't feel that good u feel like an overfilled balloon and that's not even drinking a large amount either I smoked for 27 years and had less trouble giving up cigarettes
