    Does Anyone Here Smoke Marijuana?

I was lucky in that it has never really given me munchies...doesn't now. It was fine for me. I smoked it sometime around my second week post-op.

    Any PCOS sleevers?

I was sleeved September 24, 2014. Was diagnosed with PCOS November 2013 and had a Mirena IUD inserted after my wacky period just stopped and left me with only spotting. Anyways, my highest known weight was 374, on my surgery date I weighed 327. I am now 202. I was wearing a size 28W or 5X, am now wearing size 14 or L/XL. My period started started about one week post-op. It wasn't regular after that...I still spotted, but it did start again. Recently though it's been in overdrive! I had 3 "periods" in July-August...still spot...crazy PMS abd water retention. But I don't mind.
  4. Omg yes! The bony ass...who knew that was there? And the impossible to shave pits...super concave with loose skin to navigate...dangerous to say the least! And yeah, I can shave my lady garden, but I even have loose skin to deal with there!! Damn! At times I find the extra skin fascinating and amusing...but it sure creates some interesting challenges! A friend of mine is even more fascinated by it and loves to squish it...even calks me "squishy one" which makes me giggle.

    Gout?

Just based on symptoms. On colchicine for it...yay. This should be fun. Good news is I can't get gallstones because I have no gallbladder. Lol

    Gout?

Has anyone developed gout post-op? I've never had this before, and now have it affecting my left index metacarpal joint. Seems likely due to the high protein diet and maybe not as much water as I should be getting. Curious to know if anyone else has dealt with this. I'm only 36, and my weight is 203 at present.

    Any other Canadians out there?

Hi Henner! I am originally from the Cowichan Valley and started my journey in early 2010 with Dr. Amson. I wound up moving to eastern Saskatchewan in 2012 before I was deemed ready for surgery. Followed up on a trip home in March 2014, was green-lighted, and was willing to see a colleague of Amson's, Dr. S. Malik, and got my date by the summer. I was sleeved just over a year ago on September 24, 2014. I'm 36. 5'8". Registered nurse. Highest known weight was 374. Weight on my day of surgery was 327. Current weight 203. 23 pounds to go to reach the goal I set myself. Good luck!!

    Sleevers over 300lbs?

Right on everyone. I'm 4 days from my 1 year surgiversary and only have 23 pounds to go to reach my goal weight. These past few months the loss has slowed, but I am making progress. I've lost over 120 pounds in less than a year!

    Extramarital temptations...

It's a weird situation to be in... I have very good friends in long-term open relationships that work for them. Until recently it's not something I would ever have considered. It's not how I was raised, and it was just something I viewed as a recipe for misery. I have been cheated on. It's not a good feeling. Let's differentiate between having an agreement and cheating. The former is with an understanding and acceptance, while the latter is done clandestinely without the consent of the other partner. I admit I have not divulged to my partner the fact that I had someone in mind, or that I am actively pursuing my hall pass. He did tell me not to tell him, but is aware it's a possibility. I extended the same permissions to him, but he declined. The only thing is, I would prefer to know, and to have established ground rules. I won't say this hasn't caused some confusion for me, but at the end of the day I love my partner and want to be with him. I love my friend, as a friend. I enjoy the hell out of his company and just happen to be enjoying some extra benefits.

Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)

Hi gang! I'm still trucking along...weight loss slowed quite a bit, which was fustrating, but I'm still on track. Still working in LTC, combination of 8 and 12 hour shifts, days and nights. Sometimes wonder if the surgeon was right and I should stop shift work, but that is easier said than done. From March-September 24, 2014 I lost 50 pounds on my own. I was sleeved September 24, and have lost 119 pounds to date. I have 28 pounds left to reach goal! I feel amazing. I am so proud of myself. More energy, less pain, the heat isn't bothering me like it used to, I can buy clothes in a straight-size store. I used to wear a 26/28+, but am now wearing a size 14...might be into a 12 soon. 4x/5x, now anywhere from M-XL. Here is a picture of me with a friend in March 2014, and me on July 4th at a wedding in a short dress, and me in my kitchen a few days later!
  11. Hi folks! Well, the weight is still coming off, but slowing down. I've lost 78 pounds since being sleeved, 125 total. I've got 68 more to go to reach goal! I finally followed up with the nutritionist...got told I need to increase my calorie intake, but otherwise am doing well. I was getting between 800-900 calories daily and she said to aim for 1200 otherwise I likely won't lose weight. I'm getting 80-90 grams of Protein daily. Maybe bumping up my intake will help with my slower loss and the lightheadedness I get. I talked to my trainer about my workouts. He also told me to eat more...cautioned me against overtraining. I cycle for 45 minutes almost daily and was weight training Tuesday and Friday. He suggested I increase the time between weight training sessions, so am trying Three days between sessions. Trying to decide if another readon the weight loss is slower is due to increasing muscle mass. I'm feeling great. I'm starting to see more loose skin. I suspect this last bit of weight will leave lots of saggy skin! I'm finally getting some follow-up with a bariatric surgeon in my home province. He has booked me for a gastroscopy to start. Was anyone else booked for a follow-up scope after their surgery? Hope everyone is doing well on their journey. Be proud of yourselves! We are all working hard and making positive changes to live healthier lives.
  12. One month stall...over! Yayyyy! Best. Gift. Ever!

    Happy Xmas (Stall is Over)

May be building muscle. I did because even though I stalled weight-wise I still lost inches.
  14. Almost 3 months post-sleeve. I've been on soft diet for almost 2 months. I'm finding that when I eat solids I feel full way faster and get quite uncomfortable after eating. When I have fluids or mushy foods I do not experience this. Has anyone else found this with solids?
  15. The scale really hasn't moved since November 25. I am almost 3 months post-op. I have lost some inches, but I'm really getting frustrated and worried I'm doing something wrong! I work shift work...combos of days and nights, 8 and 12 hours. I wonder if that is causing my stall. I am also worried that maybe my calorie intake is too low, or I need even more Protein. I get so full so fast! I know that this time of year is not great for me, because there are treats galore at work, and I have eaten a few little tidbits. Do I need to exercise more? I bike 30 minutes nearly daily...have just increased to 40 minutes. I haven't started weight training, but am bringing my new gym home this weekend! I know plateaus are normal, but I'm starting to feel like a failure! Ugh! I am so disappointed in myself. Is this normal? I'm trying so hard...

    Am I doing something wrong?

Usually get in between 750 and 950...some days because of the shift work I have almost no intake because of needing to sleep...but I eat later in the night and the morning then.
  17. Yeah...I do not really enjoy solids. Bleh

    Tattoo

I've got 7 tattoos...from weights of 250 to 370...almost 100 pounds down from my highest...no distortion yet. But I would recommend waiting till you maintain goal and have any skin fixed...unless you pick a "lean" place like a shoulder blade or wrist or foot.

    Catheter problems.

I've removed a lot of drains, but never had the experience of having one. Different drains, different areas of the body...I'm sure it varies a lot. ????

    Catheter problems.

I was straight cathed once...good afterwards. As for drain removal...sometimes it can hurt...but it's usually just a funny pulling sensation...maybe a little discomfort. If they forget to deactivate the drain before they pull it tht would hurt!
  21. I actually really love it. I lost 0.2 pounds of hair! Lol. Was glad to donate my braid, and hope it is useful for someone. I've had shortish hair before, but forgot how light it feels, and how much simpler it is to deal with. So glad I did it.
  22. Hi folks...I've had chronically recurring lower back pain for a little over 10 years. It's generally sciatic in nature, but has at times affected both sides, and at times left me barely able to get out of bed, walk, or clean or dress myself! Not fun! The 6 weeks I was away from work I had almost no pain, because I didn't do a damn thing. As soon as I went back to work (I'm a registered nurse in long-term care, full-time shift work, 8- and 12- hours shifts), my back pain came back. It always hurts to a degree. Can I look forward to this getting better anytime soon? Has anyone else with chronic back pain found relief after WLS? In the meantime, I am planning on asking my family doctor about getting an MRI or something, because I'm worried it's a disc problem...i have a lot of years to put in before retirement is on the horizon! Lol.
