Second Weigh in / Insurance / Sigh

Since I'm so close on the minimum BMI - I had to be very careful not to lose much weight or it would put me below...Okay - and I admit...I had to cheat on my food diaries in prep for submission to my insurance. I even had one of my staff help me prepare them by putting down her meals cuz I wasn't very good at keeping up on them daily, weekly...monthly (I'm ashamed). Interestingly enough - when Doc's office was preparing to submit to Aetna I mentioned that I had to fill in some holes that I had missed on my food calendars and she told me that they simply do a summary when submitting. Who knows - I just got the call from the Insurance Advocate yesterday advising me that everything was in order and they submitted to Aetna...now I'm just waiting it out to see if I'm approved...and biting my nails to the quick! I have 3 left - they'll be bitten by the time the insurance responds I'm sure!

    Your Aetna experience?

Okay - sometimes I read the board and get really excited --- and other times I get nervous thinking I may not be approved...BMI is 35.7 and I was tested for Sleep Apnea - which I still think I may have but I was so miserable and restless during the testing that I didn't sleep at all that night...very bad experience for me by the way. At any rate, just completed 3 month supervised plan, submitted 2 years as is now the requirement from Aetna, pysch evaluation and follow-up and nutrition counceling. Everything was in order and sent to Aetna on Monday. The Insurance person at True Results (Dr. Carter) said that she has been very pleased with Aetna's turnaround time - 2 weeks or under...so now I'm just waiting to see. Nurse at True Results said that it's a difficult call right now since BMI is just over the limit and I don't have any co-morbesities - but that they have seen several cases that they thought would never get through approval - and yet they did - but also, some cases where they thought it would fly through and was denied. I know our Aetna plan covers LBS...just hoping my paperwork gets in front of someone in a very good mood! As soon as I hear - ya'll will probably here me crying or whooping it up here in Southlake, Texas!!!

I'm on the board daily now - just wrapped everything up and ppwrk has been submitted to insurance for approval. Can't wait to hear everyone's experiences and look forward to the "day before my surgery" post!

    Your Aetna experience?

I've been watching and reading throughout my journey --- I have my last appointment with Dr. and Nutritionist on May 7th...and we have Aetna - which we have never had any problems with approvals for anything...hope my approval will not be the first one. I am right on the cusp of the BMI 35.7 so even though I'm on this Dr.'s supervised diet - I've been careful not to lose too much cuz it will put me out of the required BMI range for Aetna coverage. I have to admit - I'm sick of not being so concerned about losing any weight - I've got my head around this whole thing and really want to start this process - and even though I've not gained/lost much over the past 6 months I just feel so much more overweight now than ever! I'm ready. Keep your fingers crossed...! I'm encouraged by the Aetna posts...most seem to be approved and moving along. Hope mine is as easy as most of these are.
