  1. Hey ya'll, Reading the posts on this topic has really made me think about how I am going to handle this. I confided in a few trusted people what my plans are...but I think that when I get the surgery done and I start losing weight I am going to say that I started LA Weightloss again (hell, that's what everyone that I suspect of having had wls told me:lol:) Thanks girlies your input!
  2. Has anyone else stopped taking pictures? The last few years of my life are recorded only in my memory. Whenever I hear "say cheese" my response is "I don't do pictures."
  3. Hey girlies heres a main thread where we can chit chat and talk about whatever!
  4. Girl, now I thought only my panties stopped dropped and rolled-holla!:thumbup::smile2::crying::smile::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
  5. I'm down:wink2: I'll start a master thread on our forum and we can shoot the breeze. we can also start threads with specific topics.
  6. Girl Lucy was off the chain and didn't take any mess! Lady, welcome and I hope to join you in band land as soon as I defeat the insurance trolls!
  7. I have called my ins. co. everyday this week and they said that my info.is not showing in the computer. So today I called the ins. coordinator at the dr. office and she said that it was mailed a week ago and it may take a while for it to show as received. She is part of my frustration. She does not return e-mails and the receptionist screens her calls like I was asking to speak to Obama. So today when I finally got her on the phone I was like I know you are busy but I need some attention. This waiting gamei is torture
  8. Hey girl, The only first hand point of reference I have about loose skin is my girlfriend that has had a gastric bypass. She has gone from a size 22 to an 8. She is two years out and looks great! I asked her about loose skin and she says that it is not an issue. She has had c section birth but says the loose skin on her stomach is not an issue. I have seen her in short sleeves, knee shorts and knit shirts and I can tell you-homegirl looks good. What's her secret? Exercise. She has been exercising from day one. I plan on following her example. Also,I have been thinking that a good moisturizer from day one will probably help. At first I thought pure cocoa butter but then it hit me---pure shea butter. You know the clumpy kind? Maybe mix it with an essential so that it won't smell bad. Maybe some Vitamin e as well. So I plan on rubbing down with my concoction everyday. Maybe we could do like a test group amongst ourselves for a few months and collect data on how it works?
  9. Ya'll r so sweet. Thank all of you for taking ownership of this forum, creating new threads and posting replies. Let's keep it going!
  10. Hey ya'll. What's up with everybody? I am trying not to be irritated and impatient :cursing:while waiting on insurance approval. How did those of you that are banded handle this stress? If you are not banded how are you dealing with the insurance game? Pray for your girl. Holla!
  11. You will not be defeated! Whatever hoops they want you to jump through, do it!! Arm yourself with knowledge first. Ask him how much weight specifically. If you get the knee surgery how will that delay your band and will that hinder any efforts that you have at weight loss without the band. I am so sorry that you are in pain. Let's make a plan to get healthy with or without the band. Keep us posted. Let's all pray for each other as we struggle on this journey.
  12. It's coming your way. Welcome aboard! If you go to the home page and scroll down the folder is on the bottom left under new social groups.

  14. kiah, u r right. those of us who wish to remain anonymous really admire people like you.
  15. Ya'll are hilarious:lol:
  16. Anne, you are so the bomb! it sounds to me from this and your other posts that you are at a point in your life where you are ready to take control. you are so well traveled and opened minded that this journey will be a cake walk for you. OMG! My mother is 5 years older than you and her mind is so closed to wls that I haven't told her my intentions yet. I know that she loves me and fears the unknown but I wish that she would understand that I have to do this. My husband is very supportive! So Ms. Anne, you just do you so that you will be around for your son, and his family!
  17. Hey y'all: My name is April I turned 35 in May I live in Birmingham,AL I am married; today is my 8 year anniversary! I have a 4 1/2 year old son I am a high school ass to the principal- I mean assistant principal I remember when I was fine! I want to fall in love again with the person in the mirror I am waiting on ins. approval You all motivate and inspire me Holla! ( I so think I sound like Tyra Banks in my head when I typed that)
  18. china how many pounds have u lost since december?
  19. Travel lady, have u been banded yet? I agree a sista has to take care of herself. How does the song go.. you just do u imma do me! so stick with your decision! Msnika... I am in education as well (administration) so i know as i lose weight it will be all eyes on me. I agree with the earlier post about thinking long and hard before telling. A friend of mine has the bypass and has handled it with so much class. I have told a couple of people my plans and now i am having second thoughts should i just not mention it anymore and attribute weight loss to nutrisystem:confused2: or something? Where I'm from there have been a lot of obese educators losing a lot of weight lately. They would say oh i went to la weight loss or weight watchers. it took me a minute to realize that our ins. covered gastric bypass surgery! Our ins just started covering the lap band last year.
  20. It sounds like u made some really good choices msnika. I am still awaiting ins.approval and my dr. Told me not to lose any weight yet ( bmi 40 no comorbidities) so I am prone to make a bad choice or two!
  21. Hi moon, Sorry I am not qualified to be the mentor that you are seeking because I am waiting for approval as well. I just wanted to say hello to a fellow Alabamian. Stay encouraged, Who is your Ins. co. ? I have bc bs.
  22. To tell or not to tell? That is the question. Hey girlies how do you tell your family or friends that you are having or had wls? I haven't told many people for cultural and regional reasons. #1 In the south it's ok to trust a big butt and a smile #2 Most of the people I know consider themselves "thick" but are actually medically obese Maybe it has nothing to do with culture or region. Maybe it's just a human thing. I kinda struggle with this. Look at my avatar, it's a cartoon, Will I ever be brave enough to replace it with my own photo or will I Keep it in the closet!? Holla!
