Dee, I am right there with you. It is hard to get through this time. I have seen it over and over as those on my Facebook bariatric groups get so stressed out before the surgery.
We just have to take it meal by meal, day by day. Exercising (swimming) helps me. It breaks up my day and gives me a good focus.
I have decided to make myself go down into my (dark, dank, cold) basement and do some painting because that always makes me feel better and I have a lot of new canvas that family gave me for Christmas.
I do some of my best paintings when I am under stress.

Hello I am scheduled for gastric sleeve procedure on February, 4th (Tijuana, Mexico). Scared:)
Hi Nina, I have the same date as you! I admit I have the jitters, but I am pretty well prepared emotionally. I went through some therapy to help me make sure I was ready.

When is mercury retrograde? My surgery is on 2/18/15 :-/
I am not sure what that means. Can you elaborate? My surgery is on Feb. 4th. I know there is a full moon, but that's all I know.
Thanks!

They are lucky that you were nice to them. I think I would have been crying or angry. But I think it would be worse the closer the date was. I mean, how long is your pre-op liquid phase? Can you imagine if you had started that already?

My surgeon's office called and told me I needed to reschedule because they had a "scheduling conflict"... so now my new date is Feb 16th. I'm a bit disappointed and a lot annoyed I have to ask other people to change their plans for me if they can... but on the bright side I won't be getting surgery in the middle of Mercury Retrograde now (a bit of astrology humor).
I am sorry that they had to change you. Wow, that would be upsetting. Hang in there!

Now I feel like part of the gang!!

I had my pre-op blood draw this morning. I was SOOOOO stupid! I had to fast yesterday, too and at some point, in the middle of the night, I got up and ate toast. It was about 2:30 am. My bloodwork was supposed to be fasting.
I told them and they said that since they drew it at 10 am it should be fine, but it might show elevated levels of stuff. I could just hit myself. I should have rescheduled.

I had my final insurance weigh in and was down SIX pounds! So my packet is off for approval. My date is Feb 4th in Pittsburgh. Tomorrow I go to the vampire for preop blood work.

I am thinking:
By next summer, I will be able to ride a go-kart with my kids. I was just barely able to ride last summer and I took up two seats.
I won't have to have anyone ask me how much longer until the baby is born.
My back won't throb constantly from all of this fat.
I will be able to wear my rings again.
There is so much more, but those are some that came to might right off the top of my head.
22 days to go, for me.

Mine is February 4th. I have UPMC insurance through my husband's work, although they tripled our deductible this year. My surgery is being done at a UPMC hospital in Pittsburgh and we live in Pittsburgh. So no travel, it's just eight miles away.
Sometimes I just find myself thinking, "What the heck are you doing?"
Then I remind myself of all of the reasons that I need to do this.

@@Jana64 I hope your back feels better soon, too! We are almost there, right?!
Thank you, my back is doing much better.

@@staceytapia thank you
I am doing quite well actually! My jitters have gone away, I am really calm and just ready for this to happen. Sure, I might be nervous prior to surgery, but that is normal and expected.
How are you doing?
I am glad you are feeling peaceful. I think your surgery is the first.
Staceytapia, when is yours?

My before pics and one picture of me after losing 120 pounds in 2007 (which is probably close to what I will look like after I lose again) are on my blog, here is the link to the page that has photos:

I am trying to keep my mind off of it by looking at my calendar and keeping my mind on the things that are coming up. Also, paying bills earlier, in case I have a hard time with recovery, getting my house in shape, cleaning up and doing laundry in advance of the day will help keep me occupied.
Not to mention swimming every day.
Although today I am hurting so badly. My back is really bothering me. I have thrown it out again. Just another reason for me to want this surgery. I am so tired of hurting.

Jana... Are you using my profile pic ....?,
Not sure what you mean.

Tonight I was out driving in town and I saw that the moon was nearly full. I realized tonight that this is the last full moon that I will see before my surgery, it falls on a full moon, too.
I am virtually assured that I will be having a period during my surgery. That kind of sucks. Oh well.

Good luck! I'm two weeks post op and have no regrets. Best decision I've made for my health.
YAY! We have a veteran here!!

My husband just got a sleep study last night and after having told me for months that he would NEVER use a CPAP, they titrated him because his sleep was so bad (50 minutes of stopped breathing in two hours) and he said he had the best sleep ever.
Man, I love a convert.
